Chateau Montrose Tasting (Bentley Bar & Restaurant, Sydney): Brooding and dense, red and black hued fruits backed by touches of red currant, slight herbaceous notes, a little pencil shavings. Juicy tends to medium plus intensity acidity, a little red liquorice, plenty of drying woody tannins which prove tight, chewy, a touch of sourness on the finish for me. With time the nose picks up a more candied note though the palate remains all elbows. Like the 2014 it feels a little out of whack.

As noted by other tasters, bright, fresh tart blackberry acidity, a lighter supple Bordeaux. It is juicy, balanced however lacks weight, stylistically not identifiable as Bordeaux nor St. Estephe. In no way comparable to the impressive 2016.

Nice freshness and intensity aromas with blackberries, blackcurrants, blueberries, anise, tight summer flower, graphite and with a nice perfumed tone with leather in the background. Good full-bodied and playful 2nd wine from Montrose with fresh fruit of blackberries, redder fruit core, blueberries, leather and spices on a good finish.

Cedar and tobacco leaf on the front end, this is all about juicy, bright, crisp cassis. There is suitable spice and a hint of green olive with soft tannins and even more fruit on the back end. This should drink well with just one to three years of age.

Sure a good wine, but the 2018 was better (93). It is quite obvious that 2018 was a warmer year as the 2017 is not quite ripe.

Floral, approachable, elevated acidity. Silky, med body palate. Good fruit concentration.

闻香醋栗,青椒,香草奶油,法桶很明显,还有些香料感,入口酸度高,单宁细腻,酒液咸,青椒和黑果的香气,余味香草奶油。

Surprisingly soft and fleshy for such young wine. Nice cassis fruit in a forward style. Long and soft and fruity fish.

Merlot dominates on the nose, quite linear and accessible. Fruit-forward, spicy, juicy, well-integrated tannins and good acidity. 89-91
