Yikes, cork was soaked about halfway to the top already, but good shape otherwise. Soaring nose of tropical fruit and banana. The palate is a fascinating study in contrast, as it quite rich and concentrated in flavor, while light and airy in mouthfeel. Good pairing with Braunschweiger sandwiches and Limburger cheese.

It's hard to believe a five year old Kabinett is so tight. On day one the wine is unyielding and closed. I recorked the bottle after a glass and an hour and figured I'd see what happens. I didn't get back to it until day 3 and the wine was singing after having this chance to unwind. Bright acidity with notes of tart and sweet citrus fruit, and slate emerge in abundance. Classic Prum in terms of it's lightweight mouthfeel and relatively dry presentation. This was great. Also, hands off until 2027 or later. This is a 30 year wine.

Drunk for lunch with pea and mint soup. Very pale lemon gold - barely any colour at all. Nose of peach and white flowers with a slight hint of petrol. This continued through onto the palate, together with some citrus, apricot and apple notes. Very slight sweetness but in total harmony with the acidity. The poise and balance of this wine was extraordinary. - it felt so light. Great persistence and length. This is going to last a long time. An excellent Kabinett - one of the best I have had.

From Coravin. Sulphur, dusty, a little green apple, lime, with time a little apple drop boiled sweet. Medium plus intensity acid married to apple and apple drop boiled sweet. It's a bit short but kind of nice. Acid/sugar balance is pretty good. Yes, young but lovely.

Yum. Beautifully poised, light on it's feet, a few more layers than the Graacher but honestly they are both incredibly delicious so who cares. 17's have a bit more electricity and verve about them than the 16's.

JJ Prum - 2017 range tasting: Heady perfume - musk, orange peel, ripe pear, graphite and pineapple. Ripe palate with power fruit intensity, expressive tropical notes that are representative of the vineyard. Should lift well with time.

Very herbaceous and minerally at this point with a real savory character. Can drink now if you must but this is going to be very different and I think very very good in many years.

Enjoyable nose of peach, citrus, white flowers, and a touch of smoke and herbs. The wine is light on its feet on the palate, with less structure than I recall than in recent vintages, but still enjoyable nonetheless.

Honeyed nose, grapefruit palate. Refreshing, engaging, slightly lacking in length and complexity but utterly gluggable now.

This has blossomed beautifully - light on the tongue but with intensity and lovely spice, this is gorgeous and flexible as it is not too sweet. Yum

Vibrant fruit (tropical, apples) on the front end; focused, balanced with great acid and minerals in the finish.

Ripe lemon/lemon curd with spice and nuttiness. Off-dry balancing acidity for an overall warm and smooth mouthfeel. Blind at Monopole.

Approachable now but still very early days - this has nice crystallized notes, delicious and nice harmony.
