Tasted blind at Saddle, Madrid. The first notes made us thing south of France , Banyuls etc but the excellent sommelier pushed us away a so we went with well aged ruby port as there was little evident oak. Surprise surprise this was tawny. Beautiful 92-93 still

Full tawny colour. Pronounced and developed nose with honey, fig, raisins, cinnamon, orange marmalade, toffee, licorice, dried orange and roasted walnuts. Pronounced taste of fig, raisins, honey, cinnamon, toasted walnuts, licorice, orange peel, vanilla, smoke and caramel. Long and sweet finish. High acidity. Full body. A very good Colheita from a good vintage. Drink now or over the next ten years. Goes well with meditation, or with caramel based, nut based or chocolate based desserts.

Tasted at the Wine & Spirits Top 100 Symposium in NYC. Certainly a fine port and one I thoroughly enjoyed, but it was right next to the 2017 Graham Stone Terraces, 2017 Quinto do Noval Nacional and regular vintage, as well as 2017 Taylor's and 2017 Taylor's Vargellas single Quinta. Making for very tough comparisons! This was quite chocolatey and prunier than the 2017's and was a couple levels less dense. Still lovely.

Made from Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão.
Tawny colour. Pure, med+ intense sweet bouquet. Sweet, med acid, med- tannins, med+ body, intensity and alc. Extraordinary would be the right way to describe this. Complex, harmonious, balanced. Long, incredible finish.
Drink or keep (doesn't improve with age).
My notes: raisins, compot, grilled garlic, figs, coconuts, hazelnuts, apricots, liquorice, cocoa and vanilla.

Tasting at Graham's (Graham's 1890 Lodge, Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal): This was Graham's bottling of what is essentially a Colheita from the great 1994 vintage. Really excellent stuff, and probably my pick of the tasting. The nose had a little dose of penicillin drifting in and out of an otherwise heady melange of honey and golden syrup and nectar liberally drizzle over dried figs, with flowers and exotic spices dancing around the sides. What a bouquet! The palate was really full and round, and wonderfully complex, with savoury, almost balsamic notes in the background, and lovely black cherries and dark berry flavours at the fore. There was just superb balance here - with a lovely freshness to the wine that lent it a really pure, almost transparent clarity that I have found rare even in the best tawnies. Nice finish too, with the fruit being met by a gentle breath of coffee grounds, and more of those little savoury hints pulling away into the distance. Superb stuff. One of the best tawnies I have had - my only regret was that these were sold out at the shop.

Another beautiful showing of this off the chart great Tawny/Colheita. Superb aromatics of nuts, vanilla and other sweet spices, gingerbread, some red and darker red berries too, as well as some figs, dried plums, citrus, orange zest, overall a very pretty aromatic and textural freshenss despite its richness. It‘s medium+ bodied, deep and creamy, with excellent freshness and pretty high acidity cutting through everything. The sweetness is perfectly balanced by the acidity. Excellent length. A superb Colheita and probably the best Tawny I have ever had.

Beautiful dark amber/violin rosin color. Notes of nuts, pungent vanilla, spices, dark red fruit, some caramel, and citrusy notes too. It's medium+ bodied, has high acidity, barely any perceivable tannin and excellent length. This still seems very young but so lively, fresh and complex. Love it.

13th Cellier Wine Fair (Hilton Athenaum Hotel): The alcohol kicks in, the fruit is more on the dried side of the spectrum, beans and bits of coffee and chocolate, some spicy and oak notes too. Very rich mouthfeel, impressive, alcohol heat, nice acidity that keeps the balance. Considering its age, this is very fresh and youthful, quite fruity, dried fruit flavored med to long finish.

This was really singing with well balanced smooth tannins, the classic dried fruits, caramel, spice, nutmeg, vanilla with a delicate smooth finish. No effort is required to fully enjoy this tawny, the sugar content is significantly less as well, the only question, shall I have another glass?

Outstanding Tawny port. Well balanced, not on the sweet side. Goes down smooth...too smooth, be careful :)

Amazingly smooth considering the 20pct ABV. Caramel and all the classic tawny characteristics but just so plush and satisfying.
