Fuzzy mouthfeel with orange up front, chalk green grass on the core, bright finish on good acidity. Nice to see these staying so fresh and bright under the screwcap, have at least one more down in the cellar.

Just so perfectly in balance. Juicy tasty so nice an entry bottle. Got it as a second bottle after Julian Haart entry wine also from 2018, but that bottle did not have the same charm and minerality as it normally have, guess it is because of the year. Donnhoff have a wonderful concentration and freshness for a wine in this price range

Under screw cap. This pours quite pale yellow/green. The nose is very fresh and classical, with loads of bright citrus, lime, white flowers and just a teensy petroleum like hint. Extremely fresh and clean on the palate, with citrus driven flavors and bracing acidity. Exceptional entry level Riesling and for sub-€15 the value is superb. Especially with the screw cap, I expect this can improve for at least a decade and should drink well for three. 91-92pts.

I hate screw caps and was hoping this would be reduced and faulty, but no it was delicious! However, I won’t buy another bottle until the winery realises that they need real cork to give their beautiful wines the best expression and breathability they deserve....
This is one hell of an entry-level riesling. Super quaffable and really fantastic quality/price ratio. Would happily drink again and again...and again.

Väldigt ljus i färgen.

An inviting nose with surprising complexity; freshening acidity on the palate that is still approachable; and a sweet-to-tart fruity finish that treads a lovely line between gulp-another-sip and slow-down-and-savor.
I can't think of a single other $20 wine that I'd rather drink with cheese and friends, after a day of work.

Great value for money entry level Riesling from Donnhoff: soft minerals, stone, lychee, papaya, green apple, tropical fruit, citrus note, strong finish.

If you have been reading my TN´s over some time, then you know: beneath the Mosel, the Nahe zone is a reference for dry Highest class Riesling! Same with this entry level Dönnhoff! Drunk over three days, light, balanced, ultra fresh, mouthwatering, great! Objectively around 86- maybe up to 88, but if you got such an impressive "beginner" bottle I score my subjectively 89 today!

PnP. Initially has some kerosene notes on the nose. As it warms up these become less noticeable. Also smells of minerally, lemony pineapple. Palate is lemony and chalky. Tasty. Nice cleansing acidity. Good value.

Masterclass on Nahe with Weingut Dönnhoff (Zoom): Pale lemon, with starlight brilliance. White floral and lemony aromas. Dry, highly acidic, light bodied, of lemons, and bright minerals. Medium, floral finish

Pear, quince, citrus and classic Donnhoff minerality in this wine, with plenty of good acidity to stand up to food. We paired with sumac-rubbed hake on a bed of lentils and spinach, which was a good match give the sumac’s sourness. GV

Screwcap, 11.5% ABV. Fruit from Niederhausen and Oberhausen. Harvested early and it shows. Remarkably dry and minerally for a warm vintage like 2018 at present, the fruit is there but still a bit hidden, refreshing, hearty, typical for estate and terroir, much more structured than the 2017, chalky and lively, will need 18-24 months to show the charming side which it undoubtedly has.

Nice and refreshing but a bit closed yet. Has aromas of stone fruits, slate, lemons, limes and veggie hints. Its refreshing typically unfruity, slate infused white fruits palate has got good linearity and highish acidity. Ends mediumish and a bit clipped. 11.5%. Lay down 2-3 yrs.

Another bottle of this young soft drug Riesling, light and very fresh initially, lemon, salty, on the next day much more harmonic, more stonefruit leading the wine to sing, quite long convincing aftertaste, *(*+), around 87(+)

First full bottle of this basic Dönnhoff Riesling, this vintage very light in ABV, only 11,5%, fresh, a little simple in structure, citrus zesty, lean and lightbodied, strong acidic finish, compared with the entry level Riesling trocken from the 10 Km away Bockenau (SCHäfer-FRröhlich) a clear step backwards in quality, *(*)

11.5% vol Some green in the colour Pretty nose: fragrant floral peachy tones, with bright citrus and stones, and something ‘blue’ beneath (violets?). Touch of spritz on the tongue (less than previous wines in the line up), grippy mineral extract: feels more serious all of a sudden, though still delicate and pretty in parts. Dry mineral feel. Lovely balance as always.

Expressive nose of nectarine, citrus and shale. It is full in the mouth, with loads of fruit and cut by citrus like acidity. It is long and satisfying, offering plenty of drinking pleasure right now.

A rouch brighter and more expressive than it showed Sunday, with peach and apple blossom, and a distinct wet stone element. A hint of nectarine in the finish.

At the winery. Much more interesting that the pinots that we started with. This entry level dry riesling has green fruit on the nose. The palate has slate, mineral, round mouthfeel and a lingering finish. Well balanced acidity. Outstanding QPR.
