No vintage, interesting blend of chambourcin, pinot noir and cabernet franc, 12% abv, medium body, good fruit, a huge surprise, ok tannin with low acid, dark color, great value, an inexpensive wine from NJ that is drinkable, drank with flounder with lemon sauce, dumplings. And bok chop.

Most recent bottling from Alba (purchased in 2018) offers bright cherry, raspberry and anise flavors with a dry, tart finish. Very good weekday wine that will complement most meals.

This version in 2014 is lighter than before, a violet color. spicy raspberry fruit and a good dose of cinnamon. Light body and refreshing served a little chilled.

Light rose color. Nice nose of plum and spice. Light to medium bodied, cranberries, tart cherries, fair tannins, a little dirt, and a medium length, tangy finish. Better with food than on its own.

This is a very satisfying, serviceable "weeknight red." Could do a lot worse for the price, and probably an excellent value compared to similarly priced offerings from Napa.

New Jersey Wine Trail - Alba Vineyard (Finesville, New Jersey): Wow, between this red wine and the white mainsail Alba has you covered for the weekday quaffers, both are excellent wines at a terrific price. I'm not sure what the varieties are but guessing chambourcin and Syrah. Medium dark garnet color. Nose has lots of cinnamon and cherry. Palate is spice driven with black pepper and cinnamon followed by cherry and chambord. Medium finish and firm tannins at this point so a year in the cellar will help.

this is one of alba's better efforts in recent years. tasted it on release and recognized that it develop great complexity and style. wish i had waited a little longer since the tannins still need to resolve further. nevertheless, at present the wine offers a generous dose of cherry fruit with an elegant bouquet. if only they were all like this.

Good wine for grilling out, pizza, pasta, etc. Fruit forward with slightly stronger Cab Franc notes.

This was purchased in 2013 and I'd say time to drink up. Tannins are totally integrated. Fruit is beginning to wain. Spicy raspberry and short finish.

Light raspberry. A bit like a syrah. Suprisingly good
