La Tablee: Graillot Dinner (Al Coro): On the young side again. It's the end of the night but I think I talked about it being a bit more highs and lows. More time to integrate. Still enjoyable.

YES. I bought a case of this some time ago and, quietly, regretted it because I sort of developed the view that Crozes-Hermitage was never going to be up to much. However, I was pleasantly surprised. It is young and purple with some scratchy tannins (still) that improved on opening. But, gave way to an attractive fruitiness that could be considered superficial where it not for its distinctive fragrance. So, there is the Margaux-like perfume coming off this wine, that makes it quite special. I look forward to seeing how this might develop. It reminds me of Chave's Offertus.

Note: drank from a magnum that arrived wth slightly elevated cork and a bit of seepage. Fill was still great, however. Aromas of tobacco, pepper and dried cherries. Palate confirms the nose with rich medium body. Should have aged a lot more, but I was worried.

Great purple fruits, shoe polish, long. Enough structure for the long haul. Tasty now, but will be great in 10 years. Time to hide all the others away.

A quiet Rhone night; 8/17/2007-8/18/2007 (At home with Mark and Keiko): Wonderful deep purple colour. Nose has some floral violet notes and grilled meat. The palate is concentrated and powerful with fine but noticeable tannins. There's some decent fruit up front which dries out to leave a long muscular finish. Don't drink it yet!

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasted double blind. Black fruit, spice hints. Somewhat coarse and rustic start-to-finish. Some heat showed through from middle to finish.

YESwavering. Still great purple and deep, like last year. Almost new world in it's fruitiness and alc. Not sure whether I have changed or the wine.

Not overly ripe - a fine balance between acidity and ripeness. Some elegance. Day 2 brought more leather notes. Some length. Still quite acidic.
