A bit tight when I opened it. With a little breath and after warming up a little, it exhibited a bit more depth but never quite got to the level I hoped for.

Nice straw color; nose of pear and honeysuckle. taste was initially unbalanced, but became integrated after 30 minutes open in the bottle. Nice stone fruit flavor - light and sublte... but pleasant. Just a touch of acidity to keep it bright. May have lost a little with age... but still enjoyable. A well made wine.

First thing that hit my palate was the citrus, then some vanilla. Finished with a reasonable amount of oak. Nice amount of acidity--not buttery like many CA chardonnays. Better food wine than many of his offerings. 4/24/10 Got a lot more peach and melon than citrus this time. Still noted a lot of vanilla.

concentrated aromas of baked apples and sweet spices, followed with deep, wonderfully rich flavors that are long on juicy fruit and extravagant oak; considerable stuffing, fine finishing acids, keen sense of balance, very ripe

Popped and poured at dinner with friends. A blend of tropicals and apricot throughout the palate with a hint of mineral. Medium weight mouth and nice acidity. Expected a bit more complexity compared to others at this price point.

Butter and toast. Lemon oil and apple. Slight saline quality. Popcorn and orange. Slight green note -- bay leaf? Banana and cream. Pleasant flavors but lacking in focus -- seems slightly diffused and disjointed. Last 1/3 of the bottle was better, tighter, second day.

11/16/08: Straw yellow color. The nose is vanilla creme brule, lemon, apple, pear and tropical fruit. The tastes are layered with mango, orange, lemon, vanilla smokey oak, cream, apples, pears and minerals. This well made wine has good acidity, balance and structure with a medium full body. The finish is long with cirtrus, cream and mineral.

Corks vs. Caps (Farpointe Cellar): A lovely nose of toast, pine nuts, apple, and pear. The palate had pear and almonds, and finished with a tasty citrus and butter mix.

slippery and creamy mouthfeel; banana oil, over-ripe soft white peach (edit: just read the several other TN's listing apricot, I could see that as an alternative to my over-ripe wht peach, biggest impression was a slippery banana oil though), little bit of custard -- drinks like a chard blend with a little semillon . very good, but a little short of high expectations

Enjoyed as much as the last bottle. Shared with Kathy R. at their home in Chalotte - served w salmon, asparagus, potatoes, asian salad. Wonderful pairing - the wine showed well.

Yellow gold with aromas of tropicals, a bit of grass, and oak. Full nectar with a tingling acidity to balance the richness. This one is generous giving away an abunant variety of nuances. First is a strong oak presence romanced by a slick, well dressed butter cream component. PH also has a well structured acidic backbone that pushes it to classic proportions. Vanilla, kiwi, wild apple cream, candyfruit, clove, and a bit of perfume. The finish is long, fruity, and savory with the acid cleansing the palate. A beautiful wine indeed. Highly recommended.

87 pts.

Straw color, bit cloudy. Surprising amount of solid sugar on the cork - so much so that a few rings of solid sugar were found at the bottom of the bottle. (see label foto). Bright acids with some tropical fuits and muted vanilla/oak. Bit grassy on the finish. My cold persists so don't trust my notes.

Not one of Paul Hobb's best efforts. Good just not great. Nice Oaky Buttery finish a bit thin of fruit. Some apricot and citrus but not overly complex.

Ahhh, what a little time will do... The oak is better integrated now, and complements the lemon, pineapple, mango, and even orange flavors with a creamy vanilla backbone; rich and oaky, but delicious

A real pleasure - bold and flavorful with lots of apricot, pear, butter, cream and a depth of complexity from the earth tones and gravel tastes. I really like this one, and am honored to have been able to enjoy it. I'll order more.

Red Carpet: Brilliant yellow-gold; classic butterscotch, pear, apple, very ripe, nice and friendly; rich, expansive mth, med + oaky, though, OK fin., falls flat and a bit flabby.

Once Upon a Vine XIII - New Orleans, LA by Martin Wine Cellar (Pavillion of Two Sisters): I generally enjoy PH Chards. This one, like most of the others that I have tried, seemed to have a round, full body, with a creamy mouthfeel and flavor. There also seems to be a hint of earthiness that I don't find in many Cali Chards. On the nose and palate there is wonderfully fresh, tart fruit, lots of butter and cream, fresh cut apples, lemon pie, and that intrigueing moist soil component. Certainly there are better Cali Chards at this price point, but I don't think that most fans of this style would complain if this was the only wine available. Big and flavorful in the midpalate with a long creamy finish. Good, but definitely not a bargain at the price.
