Decanted for 3 days, days 1 and 2 quite similar very brambly and fruit forward and was a bit cloying, didn’t notice as much oak influence though I did have an oak bomb just prior to this. Was mildly tannic on day 1. Day 3 it was at its best, still very fruit forward with a mixed berry jam flavor, raspberry maybe being the dominant flavor, had a nice acidity, tannins were completely gone, only thing I didn’t like was the hint of raisins I got on the finish, overall it was good but I think I prefer the Taylor’s, also my wife didn’t like it as much.

Outstanding, best on day three with about 1/2 the bottle remaining. Day one, concentrated hard tannins, cocoa powder, black fruit jams, vanilla, and a bit of heat, not showing much. Day two, much more open knit, fleshing out the fruit, moderate booze, persistent tannic finish. Day three was exactly what I was looking for in a young Port: raspberry compote, black berry jam, with some saltiness, tannins are still definitely present, but much less hard and aggressive. Rich and concentrated with a warm boozy finish. A bit of infanticide to drink now, but worth it to pop to see what you bought. Needs a few decades to really strut, IMO.

2021 FTLOP Harvest Tour; 9/19/2021-10/2/2021 (Portgugal): Dark opaque in the center with magenta on the edges. Surprisingly integrated nose of violets, dark fruit, and raspberry. While the fruit is not fully integrated on the palate, this seems like it is going to be a really fabulous wine. Some noticeable tannins on the very long finish.

Smell of prune, caramel, licorice, coffee, oak, raisins. Taste of delicious dark berries, raisins, caramel, leather, smoke and oak. Complex, extremely long finish. Tannins present. Excellent port! Will get better, better and even better. Get a bottle of you can.

Embryonic of course, but wanted to try to see if I should buy more. That being said, it really didn't answer the question for me, as this is difficult to judge right now. Deep, dark blood red when swirled in the glass, with nose of warm dark and black fruits. On the palate this is just huge with the same dark and black fruits, spices, very tannic, and almost teeth staining. Followed over three days, and it got sweeter and the fruit started to show a little more. Seems at this point this is just a bunch of huge parts that haven't started to join together yet. This is going to take a long, long time. Not scored.

Obviously very young, but worthwhile to get a peek at this early stage. Very primary; packed with luscious, plump, plumy fruit and spice. Hints of violets as well. Grippy but very fine tannins. Long and palate coating. Come back in twenty or so years.

Niepoort Vintage Port 2017. Ettersmaken varer sikkert i 5min. Vanskelig å score. 95?

Annual Delayed Christmas Day Tasting: Really primary fruit forward with nuanced cassis. A spicy touch of clove to a points its almost peppery. Erica and heather. The concentration is massive on the palate and shines with lots primary dark fruit. This wine is going to last forever. 95+ points (and will probably be more in 20-30 years).

Surprisingly restrained fruit for such a young VP, with huge tannins that grip your tongue for nearly a minute. Despite that power, it hints at its future complexity, with hints of coffee and aromatic bitters. By day three this became richer and even more powerful but mostly shut down - tannins barely softened at all. A knockout built for the long haul. Word to the wise though, buy with care and keep them in a case away from UV and blue-spectrum lighting. Niepoort uses much thinner and less opaque glass than the major houses. Rather shortsighted for such a wine. Otherwise this wine is a refined rock-star.
2019 FTLOP Harvest Tour; 9/19/2019-9/28/2019 (Portugal): Almost completely opaque with a dark purple center and lightening only on the very edge. Some dark fruit and a note tankiness. Unintegrated fruit and tannins. Full-bodied, very long finish. A but “lodgy” – fruit, earth, and wood.

Extremely refined aromas with amazing freshness and complexity of dark purple berries, real concentrated coffee beans, licorice boats and wonderful leather.
Lovely full-bodied port wine that makes time stand still. So delicate, yet so complex and detailed! Fantastically slim with freshly dark red currant fruit, mocha beans and sweet licorice. Long and elegant finish. This is hands down the best Port wine I've tried. Will probably build a little more body in the last 40 years, but this will be the top score in the near future. 98 points. For now. (98-100p)

Excellent fruit concentration. Should live for decades. Next bottle will not be opened for another 15-20 years probably!

Svært konsentrert duft. Mørke bær. Søte plommer. Mørke bringebær.
Svært konsentrert. Fyldig, men samtidig delikat og elegant frukt. Balansert sødme med godt integrerte tanniner. Tørr avslutning med en utrolig lengde.
Min tredje portvin. Gruser de to eneste referansepunktene. Følger MB på poenggiving her.
