I opened this wine 2 hours before consumption . Upon opening, the color was brick and the tannins overwhelmed the fruit. Two hours later, this wine was lovely. The color evolved to garnet with tawny at the edge. The nose was dark fruits and eucalyptus. The fruits opened into cassis and dark berries. I’m sad it was my last bottle, but will cherish the memory.

Dark ruby colored, medium bodied, red berry and black cherry fruits with notes of floral, earth, herbes de Provence, sweet tobacco leaf, smoke and dusty rose with a moderate lingering tannin finish.
Integrated smooth tannins. Dark cherry flavors, interspersed with herbal notes. Price adjusted, fantastic value. Misses the gravitas compared to canon la gaffeliere, but I like !

Zoom blind tasting #4: Bordeaux (At home during circuit breaker): Probably at peak and very enjoyable. This was very different in character from the two elegant wines that preceded it - there was a bit more force and old-school charm here. The nose had a coffee-ish roastedness to it, with ripe dark cassis and red berries along with a dash of spice and tobacco. There was just a hint of meaty, earthy funkiness creeping in at the edges too. With time, a nice floral character came out as well - violets I thought. Really nice. I liked the feel on the palate too - velvety tannins and lovely integrated acidity forming the backdrop for deliciously plump flavours of red cherries, plums, and a lovely flush of spiciness and bittersweet dark chocolate tracing its way into a satisfying finish. As with the nose, there was just a touch of earth and meat in there as well. Nothing mind-blowing (it was a tad simple), but this was certainly moreish and delicious stuff - this really hit the spot today.

Coravin 4/7/18: Deep ruby with age-appropriate moderate bricking; nose wafts out of decanter while decanting, moderately aromatic in the glass, mostly red bell pepper, soil mulch, slight mint, moderately complex; palate is medium bodied, tertiary but still present red fruit, balanced medium acidity, lovely moderate alcohol (13%?, bottle confirms 13%); medium finish. Strengths: Classically styled bordeaux (a nearly-extinct type of St. Emilion), showing surprising maturity for a 2000 (much further along than a lot I have tried recently), well balanced, low alcohol, tertiary aromatics, good acidity. Weaknesses: Only moderately aromatic in the glass, could use more complexity on the palate, could use a longer finish. My only bottle, and I would have loved to have 1-2 more. 89-90, drink now, as it is at maturity and will only fade from here. 4/9/18: Similar to when first opened, but has a slightly more pronounced bitterness on the palate (present two days ago as well, but a bit more now). It does hold the wine back a tad from deliciousness. 89

Bad cork; double decanted. A fair amount of sediment. Mature; bricking at rim, cinnamon-brown meniscus. Nose of mushroom soil, oak and berries. Austere on first sip, but with food, round and lovely. Firm structure, decent acidity. Recommend drinking within the next year or so.
Stood up surprisingly well to smoked trout salad and marinated octopus appetizers, and paired splendidly with grilled ribeye.

During a tasting. Nose of dark fruit and some strawberry. Soft and light on the palate. Tame and old claret with typical subtle molasses sweetness and earthy notes. Quite light and aromatically rather short. Good table wine quality but not more.

Brownish-red on the eye is inviting. Warm, mature red fruits on the nose even more inviting. Merlot-driven, excellent Bordeaux Blend that is singing now. Subtle and silky tannins. Medium-bodied. Soft, friendly, snuggly finish...you just want to cuddle and snuggle with this luvly! We do not see it going much past 2020, but very happy from now until the end! We have yet to sip our Chateau Quintus, which is the name of the wine now under the helm of the Clarence Dillon family, but we are very confident it will be as good if not better.

We sipped a bottle at Aureole New York City during a fantabulous lunch and after several excellent glasses. Outstanding!!! This wine, now called Quintus, will only get better now that Chateau Haut-Brion is at the helm.

A truly excellent and somewhat typical (60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon) expression of a reasonably priced St Emilion Gand Cru Classe. Very soft to no tannins, coffee nose. Elegant. Fine. Nice, long finish. Getting even more interesting with age as the finesse shines through, particularly mid-palate and finish.

Dinner without a Bordeaux often happens, but rarely should. We decided something a bit more unique was befitting of our guests from Florida and Latvia, thus the Chateau L’Arrosee 2000. A truly excellent and somewhat typical (60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon) expression of a reasonably priced St Emilion Gand Cru Classe, we rank this heavy, dark fruit and equally elegant drop high among the entire region’s offering. Now that the vineyard has been acquired by Chateau Haut-Brion (I believe in 2013), we expect even greater future sipping as Jean-Philippe's team works its magic!!!

Seemed overly mature for it's age. Smooth but not much fruit. Tobacco, dried cherry, earth, oak. All of these characteristics are fading. Just a cut above your basic table wine. Couldn't help but feel that this needed a good dose of Cabernet Sauvignon. My first time drinking this wine and probably my last. Way overpriced. I think this bottle was a victim of poor storage

No notes taken, but this showed more age than I would have expected. This bottle was past peak for sure, but I didn't get this on release (and have no way to know if that impacted it's performance).

Medium garnet. Again quite a woody nose here with a bit of earth intertwined. Medium mid palate with not much presence and aroma but a bit alcoholic finish. Does not go beyond basic table wine either.

2000 Vintage Bordeaux Tasting (Crystal Wines): Very nice nose of light red fruits and cherries and oak. Pleasant, broad and developed. Palate of light red fruits and slightly spicy. Quite a straight forward wine. Aftertaste quite long.

After an hour of decanting, this became a gorgeous wine. Almost full bodied, smooth, and a long, complex finish. Great nose. This is why you age Bordeaux.

Wonderful cherry, blackberry favors, with earth tones after 30 minutes. Deep red color and a smooth finish. This has improved dramatically over the past two years and should drink nicely for at least five more.

The Brett is so heavy on this wine that I cannot get past it. I find it worse than the example tasted 6 months ago. End of the line buying L'Arrosee for me if this is what they produce.

This wine shows a deep ruby color with a density to it. Showing a bit too much Brett on the nose for me, might be fine for others, but the black fruit flavors are somewhat subdued by the leather and barnyard notes. Medium to full bodied with pleasant black Cheryl, chocolate flavors.

Drinking really nicely after the bottle was opened about 1-2 hrs. I was quite surprised that the WA recently downgraded this citing bricking on the rim and early maturation. huh... really? The wine still needs quite a bit of time to open up and no bricking on this bottle. After some time, nice cherry red fruit with leather, graphite and earth. But so silky smooth and long.... I really like this.. Great with steak and hash browns at dinner.

Opened in honor of wife's birthday. Decanted for one hour. Beautiful nose, which started out as mostly currants but evolved into mostly espresso. Currants and cherries on the palate, with some tobacco leaf, pencil lead and just a little of that espresso. Long finish. Still on the upside of a beautiful ride.

Everything you would expect in a St. Emilion Grand Cru, very well balanced at 9 years old as of this tasting. Nose has consistent sweet fruit and currant. Smooth throughout , excellent flavor no overpowering alcohol at all. Almost delicate in balance. Holds it bouquet magnificently after opening.

Classic balanced St. Emilion. Some Barnyard funk on the nose, almost Burgundy-like, with hints of black cherry, tobacco and pencil lead. Lots of cherry fruit and tobacco on the palate, and a nice even finish begging for game.

Medium Bodied. Decanted 1 hour: Great nose featuring ripe fruit with hints of tobacco, tea, and eucalyptus. The palate is bursting with plum and cherry fruits that holds into the finish until the tannins begin to dominate. I would leave this alone for awhile as the body is no match for the tannins at this point. Very promising though and certainly a pleasureable experience at this time.
