(Disgorged in 2008, 100% Chardonnay) Lovely golden yellow colour with an endless stream of very fine bubbles and a maturing nose showing cream, butter caramel and some gentle flowers as well. Still showing a very nice acidity of yellow apples and a touch of burnt sugar before a very distinct plums peel bitterness on the lengthy finish that transforms into a pleasant creaminess. Wow! This is really showing very well right now, but should keep for many years to come! (Best 2014-2029)

(Disgorged in 2008, 100% Chardonnay) Yellow colour with a very closed down and still youthful nose showing lots of chalk and minerals at first, with glass time it opens up with mature yellow apples and a hint of chocolate. Palate is very tough with lots of acidity and enough fresh fruit to back it up for further cellaring to soften out, but feeling lighter on the palate than I thought. This was a very positive showing tonight. (Probably best 2019-2029)

After Salon, VVF, Churchill, Cristal, Comtes, Clos des Goisses another 1999. Like all the other 99 in good shape. Reached his Peak for me. Not suitable for Long aging but nowadays very pleasant. Citrus, nuts, Brioche, great fine bubbles, Long clean finish, minimal oxidation signs, drinkable over the next 3-5 years

Not my favorite vintage, last time a little bit fresher than now. At the same level as Louise 1999. Still citrus, some red apples, little oxidation signs, still very joyable but a little bit broad in the finish, will drink my last bottles within the next 2 years, 91-92

Disgorged in fall of 2008) Still youthful in colour with a stream of fine and tiny bubbles and a lovely nose that first opens up with flowers and minerals and after a while turns into more reductive notes showing chocolate. Palate is more intense showing reductive maturity with plums and apples in a very fine and expressive style. This is drinking more lovely than ever before, but still has more to give. Should cellar well for at least another decade.

Yellow colour with an Amazing amount of fine tiny bubbles. The nose is filled with freshly baked bread and hazelnuts. The palate shows licourice and a kaffir lime peel in the nice and long finish. Very refined taste with low dosage.

Yellow colour with small nice bubbles. On the nose there's typical taste for Swedish people called "Björnklister", which is dominated by bitter almond. On the palate there's an oxidization and licorice and with a long after taste of bitter almond.
Much better than the Pierre Gimonnet Special Club -02 we had at the same time.

Meet the man - Nicolas Potel (Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck @ Paragon): The aroma is a bit tight due to serving temperature is too cold. When it warms up, it displays complex aromas along with fine bubbles: yeast, nut, melon and some pink guava notes, honey core, brioche and mineral background. Quite fine and feminine, elegant with good persistent, complex flavors and good energy. Honey lemon, citrus aftertaste at the long finished that echo with light honey sweetness which I believe is from the dosage. Clean. This will need at least another 5yrs for the dosage to settle down and when it is, notch up! 90-92

2010 Maison Roche de Bellene / Nicolas Potel Dinner (Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck, Paragon): I liked this quite a bit. I suspect it may be a Champagne that would divide opinions, showing as it did in a meaty, oxidative style, with wafts chicken essence and brown apples on the nose, this was certainly not one for those who like their Champagnes feminine and freshly fruited. I found it quite delicious though. There was quite a bit of depth and power on the palate, with savoury notes of mushrooms and meat, plenty of supple apple flesh on the midpalate, and a lovely bit of minerality and spice in a long finish, all wrapped in a food-friendly robe of crisp acidity and a fine, frothy mousse. I thought this was very good - a nice Champagne with plenty of character.

Clean and fresh nose. Quite flowery. Apples and some minerlity. A little bit shy. Nothing characteristic, but elegant and pleasant. Medium body with good acidity. Flowers and apples. Harmonious with some development. Yeasty but not in the broad school. Could be kept at least 5-10 years more.

Smells of toast and ripe old apples left 6 months in the cellar. Massive entry, elderflower pollen and an almost oily concentration and texture. Truncated finish - whoops, there it goes - leaves the feeling of sparkling mineral water on the palate. After 3 hours another glass, always the test of a really good Champagne: what does the base wine taste like when the initial excitement and some of the bubbles have blown off? Not a great showing, I'm afraid, almost acrid, sour, bad-tempered juice. Sticking to first impressions, this is a safe 87P

Very fresh and generous fruit. Crispy feeling, good balance and acidity. Evolving beautifully in the glass. May be even better with cellaring for a few years.

Chablis and Champagne 19-22.09.2011; 9/19/2011-9/22/2011: Bottled 2000, disgorged 2010. Darker parchment colour, touch of honey on the nose; ripe and rather heavy Chardonnay entry, hinting at butter, toffee, substantial but rapidly fading finish. €35 au chai. 88(-89)P

Little color to the extent of pale. Very distant nose of mineral and citrus fruits. Initially served a bit too cold which revealled substantial mineral but little fruit. Gradually a more acid citrus flavored palate comes thorugh, but still restrained. Clearly a very good champagne. Better in a few years? - hard to tell...
