Wine Experience Pairing Dinner: Slightly chilled, clear, bright med straw color. Bigger nose. This is a wonderful wine and one of the best domestic SB I've had. Clean, bright, intense, full flavored, slight oak, huge acidity and fresh. Completely fooled me vintage wise. Excellent wine and nothing off. Retail $40, sale $34

Vinetasters: This and That (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Unpleasant sauvignon blanc notes on the nose coupled with some sulphurous reduction does not make for a good combination. Ungainly with its fatness and oak but also carrying the thinness of sauvignon blanc just doesn't work for me at all. Heavy-handed extraction and pretty discernible high alcohol further detract.

A repeat buy and one we like to share with company. Some nice complexity that makes it appealing even to people (like Max) who don't usually like Sauvignon Blanc.

Pale lemon in color. White floral aromas (honeysuckle, jasmine) with fruit elements of lemon and pink grapefruit. Medium acidity/nice balance - creamy full body texture. Citrus flavors (honeybell?) orange/lemon/grapefruit, (slight tropical hint) on the palate with good minerality. Med+ Finish, Complex wine!
Winemakers Notes: 56% Sauvignon Musque, 34% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Semillon Whole-cluster pressed, the juice was fermented in a variety of vessels. French oak barrels (6% new; 63% neutral) bring a depth to the body and a hint of oak spice, while Acacia barrels (4% new) add a complex floral spice on the nose. Egg-shaped concrete fermenters (14%) add richness to the palate while retaining fresh aromas, and stainless-steel barrels (13%) maintain the purity of the fruit. Semillon adds a round mouth-feel to complement the vibrant and tangy Sauvignon Blanc. Lees stirring enhances weight and complexity.

Rich and weighty mouthfeel balanced nicely with a firm presence of acidity. Fresh notes of lemon meringue, citrus, ripe pear and wet stones. A great example of a well-made California SB.

Nose of petrol, tropical fruit. Palate of bright pineapple and a chalky lemon pith finish that lasts quite a while. Nice salinity and acidity. A dollop of creamy lemon meringue throughout - maybe some malolactic fermentation. A more appropriate balance of power and finesse than recent NZ SB I had. For reasons unrelated to wine (Operation Varsity Blues), I hate that i like it as much as I do. Appropriately priced in the mid-30’s that I found at Whole Foods: not worth the $40+SH from winery.

Light straw colour, yes, but heavy on ripe white fruits and with a high acidity palate. Taste lingers as intense and creamy. An SB, yes, and well made according to the winemaker's intentions, but very, very Californian.

Light straw color. Big grapefruit nose and flavors. Hints of grass around the edges. Acidity was noticeable even for a Sav Blanc. This is a big wine. At the “look at me” end of the SB spectrum.

Have had before but this bottle took a good hour to come together. Didn’t feel balanced to start (too much acidity) but got better through the night. May let the next sit open for a few hours before drinking.

Light yellow color, slight greenish hue. Lean nose with apple, pear, lime, and minerals. Medium body, medium (+) acid and finish, with flavors of lemon, apple, pear, bit of creamy viscosity which I'm digging, and minerals. Nice one.

Simply the best white wine I've ever tasted. It noses like really good Sancerre and tasting follows similarly, with notes of traditional CA sauvignon blanc quite apparent. Creamy. Simply delicious. Really, really delicious.

Translucent straw. Nose of fresh melons. Medium bodied with medium-to-medium-plus acid. Rich mouthfeel with flavors of melons and strawberry juice. A little bit of heat on the finish but that improved with air. Day 1 we had it with a lemon-date chicken and the wine could not stand up at all to the sweetness of the dates, leaving it tasting thin and bitter. Finished the bottle with a more neutral lunch the next day and the wine was much more enjoyable, and offered some lemon-lime flavors.

More oak than the 2019, but was really quite coming together well. Notes of melon, citrus, hints of oak all part of a really great medium-bodied wine. Drink before 2026.

Nice, crisp—grapefruit on palate. Paired well with grilled shrimp. This is a nice, everyday sort of wine
