Even better than a few years ago, now you find caramel, honey, flowers, and fresh, sweet, overripe pineapples with a hint of spice, racy, honeyed apricots, and orange rind. Drink from 2024-2040.

UGCB SF Tasting Event (Metreon, San Francisco): No 2021 because of frost, so they've chosen to pour the '18? What an odd choice. Overly sweet, a bit oaky, and insufficient acid to carry the botrytis and sugar. Didn't care for this. 85

UGC 2021 Bordeaux (Vibiana, Los Angeles, CA): The nose is immediate and a bit unrefined, filling the nose with kumquats, melons, red apples, nectarines, apricots, peaches, and yellow flowers. The tones more sit on the surface and this doesn't really show off too much depth. The Full bodied feel is balanced and textured with tart, high acidity. The lack of depth from the nose carries through on the palate. It is well textured and possibly a bit awkward right now. I could see this improving with at least another 5+ years of aging.

CdT Dinner (Christy's): Delicious, what Sauternes is supposed to be in my mind. Rich, sweet syrup with bright sweet fruit. Golden color. Great wine and a great value.

Fine spice of saffron, honey, bees wax, caramel and toffee. Pretty suppressed fruit, however. Viscous with creamy texture, not enough acidity and hence lacks freshness, leaving you with a rather flat sensation.

Montag 16.10.2023 Rene Gabriel Apero 10:00 Viel Frucht, Ananas, reife Aprikose, mittlere Tiefe, mittlere Säure, keine übertriebene Süße, guter Trinkfluss. Eigentlich ein Barsac, kein Sauterne.

Lively and piercing, particularly for affordable Sauternes, the result of noteworthy framing acids. Showing younger than one might expect, with white and yellow meadow flowers, stone fruit, dried tropical fruits, and touches of citrus zest. Behind the freshness, sous-bois and terroir-driven substance make their mark.
Highly enjoyable now (ridiculously so with blue cheese) and improvement seems likely. An overachiever! Exceptional QPR! 92-93.

Nice gold color with syrupy legs. Nose is apricots, lemon rind, pineapple, acacia, and custard. Fresh pour has the same, with pineapple and honey hitting high notes. Great creamy texture, and floral finish. Saving the rest of the bottle for tomorrow, will update.
<Edit> Already quite good, got better on second and third nights, with grilled pineapple taking over at first, and then more almond and butterscotch notes by the third night. Never cloyingly sweet. Good QPR and should age very nicely.

Good melange of flavors both sweet and crisp. It's in that zone where it works *with* dessert instead of *as* dessert. It's got some crystallized lemon and apricot, but it's fresh, ripe apricot instead of dried or jammed apricots.

Good, short of great for me. Quite enjoyable but the complexity wasn’t there for me, single note of orange marmalade. As others have said probably a great entry point to Sauternes.

Tasted from a 375 cc bottle, this medium golden Barsac is impressive from start to finish. Highly aromatic and intensely flavorful, it delivers a package of dried apricots, candied peaches, crème brûlée, honey, pineapple, jasmine and ginger in a medium-bodied, moderately sweet, seamlessly alcoholic (13.5%) frame. Everything works here, which can most be attributed to the wine's beautiful balancing acidity. Rich and dense on the mid-palate and lengthy on the back end, this is a well-crafted sticky that should provide pleasure for many years to come. Drink now-2048.

Assorted flowers, honeysuckle, white peach, lemon curd, yellow tropical fruits, vanilla and honeyed overtones work here. Lush, show, rich and sweet, with loads of candied apricots, pineapple and honey in the finish.

Typical Sauternes profile with notes of dried peaches, oranges, pineapple, vanilla, cotton candy, etc. Very sweet and slightly bitter — not enough acid to balance the sweetness in my opinion.

Tasted side by side with Château Doisy-Daëne. After the funny discussion about Doisy, I have to say that I am usually reluctant to taste sweet wines because when they are young, they quickly saturate my senses of taste and smell. This time presence of food in the form of fresh grilled foie gras with peaches and a lemon meringue pie helped pass the sweet drink. Most curious thing about these wines is how they divided the components of this tasting 50% between those who believed that Daëne was creamier and more elegant and those who considered Vedrines as more capable of aging due to its fine acidity. For my part, I prefer Vedrines because its acidity overcomes me and I don't see that it lacks the aristocratic character of its competitor.

Great price point for an introduction to Sauternes. Not highly complex but not to be expected. Really recommend to introduce people to the noble rot.
