Bought in Franschoek. Garnet without any fading. Aromas of cassis and tobacco. Tannins starting to soften. Ripe with good balance . New world but with a nod to the old--what we found in South Africa. There is more ahead for this wine.

Who says SA Cab cannot age? This is still drinking wonderfully well at 12 years of age. The fruits are autumnal rather than super ripe and all the better for it. Remains a well balanced wine with a decent length on the finish. Perfect wine for leg of Welsh lamb

Drinking so well right now! Classic South African terroir comes through in the aromatics and finish. Currants, spiced cherry, beef jerky, savory herb, campfire embers, this walks a tight line of balance and power! #wine

Deep purple. Lovely Cabernet nose with cedar, cassis, leather, herbs and spices. Very subtle burnt rubber notes that do not spoil the bouquet. Full-bodied, rich and round, with soft tanins, generous fruit and adequate acidity. Long finish. The burnt rubber element appears in the aftertaste too, but remains subtle and...elegant. A typical, attractive cab.

Deep purple in colour this wine showed blackcurrant, dark choclate and a hint of mint on the nose. The palate was quite savoury - minerality, herbs, earth and a hint of smoke. A nice cabernet, but nothing special - epecially for the price! Their Syrah is much more of a stunner!

Royal cabernet nose, with coconut and vanilla on the nose. Strawberry and current also show up on this complex nose. Phenomenal on the palate, with a silky texture I’ve not experienced in South Africa. This has seen 27 months in oak. It is still very tannic, with a clear oak presence. It will continue to excel for years.

very alcoholic, smoky, oaky, and earthy. Still disjointed and needs time to integrate.

Boekenhoutskloof Winemakers dinner. (@ Bottles; Sas van Gent, Netherlands): In the bouquet and on the palate beautifully ripe red, but mostly dark berry fruits. Good oak and sweet spices. Beautiful and harmonious wine.

Very good new world cab. Full bodied and with a nose of blackcurrant. Starting to mature but will last for another 3-4 years.

This bottle seemed a little more unsettled than last year. A bit too aggressive for me. Tannins quite drying.

Color: Deep core of dark red, red edges
Nose: Whiffs of cherry, subtle oak, some cedary spice and tarry notes.
Palate: The tarry red fruits are framed by good tannins that extend the lush finish.

Opened for 3 hours before consumption. Identifiable SA nose, some CS rubber. Drinking pretty well.

Just a nice pretty little hint of green pepper. But such a great tart cherry fruit. Like a great late 1970 Napa.

Full bodied and much too young. Needs at least another 5 years.
