Dette er så bra som en kommunevin kan bli. Topp produsent, årgang og appellasjon. Elegant nese med tørkede jordbær, litt jod og lær. Lang ettersmak og veldig fine, polerte tanniner.

{bought on release, perfect fill, Pop N Pour and consumed over 3 hours} Lovely, lacy, beautiful nose; at most medium palate concentration, rather light. Great purity of fruit in the nose. Ready to drink.

And on the second night, seamless and much more fluid with a magical dance of soil and perfectly ripe fruit. What a wine! Bigger than the great 2002 Mugnier Chambolle but just as memorable.

Tasted before 2005 Fuees. Very nice Village (I think half comes from a 1er cru parcel) this is a standout, with red and black fruit perfumes and slightly secondary notes, good rising blue fruit flavors over gentle tannins make the wine flow. Decent length with an elegant bitter cherry aftertaste. How to resist ? Hedonistic and very enjoyable now, showed more power after 2 hours of air. Can wait or can be drunk with 3 hours decant. Although not the best value, a real beauty.

SLDS February 2021: Earthy, meaty notes with violets as well on the nose. Really well balanced on the palate and the wine unfurls in the glass. Still feels like it has time to go but it's very nice now.

2005 Burgundy blinds on Jason's roof: Blind 4 of 9. Some cherry on the nose but also some a touch of spice, which led me to Vosne. Some sour cherry on the finish, which also led me away from Chambolle, but this was gorgeous, even if not quite ready. Was the spice a touch of the residual oak that had almost fully resolved? My #2 wine of the blinds and the best of the 05s.

This is a real surprise how intense it still is and the focus of its core is so tight. On 2nd evening it loosened up to give scents of roses, small and very energetic red berries. Certainly close to soprano than bariton and promising great future, even at 14 years of age. I've got a few more bottles and I am not going to rush into opening the next one. No doubt patience will be rewarded handsomely. Cheers,

Great over 4 hours or so. Lots of red fruit here, but also some nice earthy and secondary notes coming through. In the zone now and over next 10 years or so. Wonderful.

Aromas leap from the glass. Sous bois, cherry, mineral. Palate is light to mid weight and carries the flavours of the nose very well. There’s enough acid to lift the palate on the reasonably long finish. Fine tannins remain. Looking really good for this level.

Excellent à l'ouverture - si jeune malgré tout! Se détériore rapidement dans le verre, prenant des notes oxydatives après 30 minutes, donc à boire dès l'ouverture

After about an hour in the glass, this wine just sings. typical mid-garnet colour. There's pure pinot fruits here. Wonderful nose. Palate is mix of spice, blue and red fruits, earthy richness. It's quite dense for this level too. It's pure. Really enjoyable.

HDH auction tasting at Tru; 5/13/2016-5/14/2016 (Chicago, IL): Even for a villages, this is just too young. This is just so well balanced between everything right now, with the red and black fruit showing in perfect harmony. Lovely acidity and freshness here, this has the stamina for the long haul. The palate is a bit ornery, to be sure, as if complaining that you have woken it too early in the morning. The tannins are quite big for such a "lowly' Burgundy, but with a nice slice of veal, this is working perfectly.

Excellent!

Nice nose - strong notes that got better over time. This is still young. If you drink one now give it a decant. Will help unravel some of the flavors and nuance. This got better as time went on. A very solid villages wine - good structure and plenty of acidity here. This will go for a while. 90+

Clean clear purple color, black band berry fruit nose, lively in the mouth but I think still coming together. 10+ years and the village still not ready yet, interesting. Nice drink, think it will get better

Decanted 1/2 hour before dinner. Still very primary, with little secondary development. Showing the rich character of the vintage, with deep, almost jammy fruit, but no sur-maturite. A lovely bottle, quite approachable, but still too young for my taste. At present, showing more black than red fruit notes, although it had both in abundance from barrel in 2007. Lovely wine. Merci Fred!

Drank over 4 hours. Very forward ripe nose of red and black fruit with some black pepper and spice. Very ripe, modern and sweet in the mouth. The fruit is Chambolle, but there is a interest Vosne style spice. The finish is narrow and medium. Very focused and primary.

Very seductive sexy nose, however slightly ripe fruit and a touch of oak. In the mouth this follows, ripe sweet fruit with the oak not fully integrated. However, of exceptional quality for a village wine. I do prefer a lighter more elegant style however. Drinks well now, but will last at least five-ten years.

An Afternoon with Frederic Mugnier, Domaine Jacques-Frederic Mugnier (The Pawn, Hong Kong): Purplish-red transparent colour. Lovely forward and quite beguiling nose of fresh strawberries. Young on the palate.....very, very fresh fruit but a bit primary and one-dimensional. Velvety tannins. Great purity and structure. Develops with time in the glass into very sweet and light fruit with noticably velvety tannins (none of the muscular angularity of the 2006):elegant but not intruiging. Some length. Frederic Mugnier said that it will be good in 3-5 years' time but that in 20-30 years it could be one of the best Burgundies ever. Hmm....at nearly $100 per bottle I'm not sure that I'd take that chance.

HOLD. DO NOT DRINK. This wine is not ready yet....decant for 24 hours if you choose to be silly and open the wine I like did...Massive structure, tannin, power, strength...Almost new-world in style...after about 24 hours, you can tell that it will be interesting to try 10-15 years from now...

It had to happen...finally, a 2005 that wasn't open for business and accessible. This bottle, received about two weeks ago was pushing back a bit. The color is a dark red, young but not as completely saturated or opaque as many examples. Aromatically, yes expressive but I certainly sense that something is in reserve here. What is here is very attractive, very chambolle...not at all oaky nor sloppy. Nice. In the mouth, the wine enters sternly and with a clear declaration of it's structure. Quite high toned actually in a slightly cranberry type of way and yes the tannins are quite apparent and just a bit blocky right now. The mid-palate here is fairly compact and tightly wound I sense and yet the finish is refreshing and medium length. Damning with faint praise I'm afraid, but this wine needs time. I expect the velvety, sensous Mugnier will become apparent in 5+ years. Definitely ageable.

Tasted over two nights- incredibly pure, sweet ripe cherry fruit- a very elegant wine. Great persistence. Lots of structure that became more evident on night 2. So easy to drink right now, but you can sense its serious side as well. Silly good for a village wine. An absolute pleasure to drink.
