PnP, this had the typical very grassy nose that sauv blanc shows from this region and initially it did not do much for me. As it slowly warmed up and trended towards room temperature the harshness in the acidity and the strong nose faded somewhat and made it much more enjoyable to drink, my suggestion would be to allow this to rise in temperature before drinking up.

This sells for $16-25 in the US. Organic. They even use sheep and cows to weed and add organic matter to the soil. They practice some green harvesting. Hand-picked from 8 estate vineyards. Partial ferment with native yeasts. Whole-cluster pressed and fermented in stainless steel at cooler temperatures. Aged 4 months in tanks. No fining. Screw-cap. Starts off with ripe white fruit, but not quite tropical fruit on the nose and palate but some savory, herbal green vegetable notes eventually come too. Also citrusy with lime zest and floral notes. A little effervescent at first but it goes away. Good acidity. Ultimately, a bit more intensity, body and acidity than the Errazuriz MAX SB, but almost the same in style and quality.

Pretty classic New Zealand Style Sauvignon Blanc. Pale straw color. Aromas of grapefruit with hints of lychee, pear and apples. Pallet is full of citrus and passion fruit flavors. Hint of a green element on the long and lingering finish. Medium bodied with a very silky texture. Loads of mouth watering acidity. Crisp, bold and fresh.

100% sauvignon blanc. Pale yellow color. Pure aromas of fresh grapefruit, citrus. On the palate medium bodied, crispy, complex, refreshing, long lasting finish, just a lovely Dog Point!

Always good to leave Dog Point in the bottle for a few years while the tartness and reduction blow off. This was in just the right spot. Gooseberry, passionfruit, pineapple accompanied by some leesy creaminess. The palate is quite textural, but what I love about this producer is that the acidity is always strong but not overpowering like in most NZ Sauvignons. Paired nicely with sun-dried tomato bruschetta.

Definitely different from most Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs, but not necessarily better. Maybe a little more sophisticated so the melon holds back a bit but it's still quite refreshing. Not sure if it's worth the extra money though.

Pretty electric. Almost too much so. Reduced at pnp, blows off eventually…not fast enough for most. With Sancerre in short supply, go here. But drink against a Dagueneau Montes Damnes. Prolly not flint enough, but aside from that. Light passion fruit and very mineral palate. High acid, light tannin. Wildly good right now.

Had I tasted this blind, I would have undoubtedly guessed incorrectly that this was a Sancerre. It's smoky and flinty and not really at all a "typical" Marlborough sauvignon blanc (at least not in my experience with them). That being said, it is very tasty and enjoyable.
PALATE: Sweetness: dry Acidity: medium (+) Alcohol: medium Body: medium Intensity: medium (+) Flavors: grapefruit, crushed stone, white peach, smoke, lemon zest Finish: medium (+)

This wine's nose was it's best feature: heavenly rich fruit, complex and funky organics with sweaty wet wool, passion fruit, and grapefruit peel, some barnyard even...all very 'French' for a Marlborough Savvy.
T....drier and more restrained than the Nose had hinted it would be. Mouth-feel is gentle tannins with a slight grip, good power and length, a classy well-made wine; fresh acidity, a touch of wet river stone and limestone earthies. Some passion fruit, some quince and yellow fruit, lemon. Pithy. Nice lilt at the end.
The Nose told me it should be marked 93, maybe even 94, but in mouth that drops to 92.
VFM?....feels worth £25.00, costs £20.99. Good value. Will buy again, the next season, 2020, in Marlborough is reported as easy/problem-free.

I felt this was very sophisticated SB, kind of took me by surprise, actually.
Part of a WineAlign tasting, this wine has loads of citrus on the nose - almost pungently so: grapefruits & lime.
The palate was like 'Spring in a Glass', with high acid leaving my mouth watering. However, I was not expecting that chalky/salty texture on the mid palate & the long length! Very reminiscent of the Loire Valley!
Give it 30 minutes to allow the SO2 to blow off - but then pour away...preferably in the sun. 🌤

Tasted alongside the 2019 Astrolabe and Rapauru Springs Reserve sauv blancs.
Very pale color, lemon sherbet on the nose, with a noticeable zingy feel. Nice yellow fruit, very subtle hint of burnt matches, Comfortable acidity, very long finish. This is a superb wine, yet less intense than some other vintages. I think this vintage is on a par with Cloudy Bay, but I prefer Astrolabe and Rapauru Springs which are marginally cheaper in New York.

Christmas Extravaganza Zoom tasting, hosted by Tim Syrad of Tim Syrad Wines, UK. I know this wine and I would have expected to score it well into the 90s. But good as it is, I think we were tasting it too young and it needs another couple of years in bottle. Medium gold. Fresh, NZ style sauvignon nose. It's got a lot of acidity, it's young and it's fresh. Recommend coming back it to it later.

Friday Dinner at Friends' House (Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong): Light silver-green colour but showing some ‘weight’. Nose is lifted and light, somewhat typically grassy in typical NZ Sauvignon Blanc character but with an intriguing added dimension of vanilla and lemon custard that gives it an extra dimension. Palate is fresh and invigorating initial attack with a clean, steely cut and some fresh asparagus but followed up by a bit more weight....lemon infused Creme Brulee custard without the brulee bit. Very moreish and went really well with slightly spiced appetisers. Pleasingly long in the mouth. As many likely know, the team at Dog Point originally provided the majority of the grapes for Cloudy Bay back in the early days. To my mind, Dog Point now beats Cloudy Bay hands down but at a significant price discount (my case cost $16 per bottle). This impressed everyone tonight. Reinforced by opening another bottle on its own the following day.

Tasted this during the Dog Point Tasting with Matt Sutherland organised by Wine Exchange Asia.
Straw gold in colour with lots of freshness and acidity. One of the speakers commented that this wine presented lots of saltiness from the sea and this coupled with the clean, crisp finish presents a quality and wholesome everyday drinking wine.
The 2019 is less impressive as compared to the previous vintages but nevertheless this is still a very well crafted wine. Cloudy Bay has always been the benchmark for quality New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc but this Dog Point surely puts up a very good and close fight.

Mouth: Juicy, round Meyer lemon, key lime, and white flower notes mingle with a lemongrass acid ahead of an extended quinine finish.
Overall: Steely and pure along that lemon-lime axis and bright in flavors without over-relying on acid. Not explosive, but linear and direct - knows where it wants to go. This makes it a bit more versatile with food pairings than many NZ Sauvignons - certain types of seafood will go beautifully with this for example. Drink now - 2021.
