Jadotfest 22; 12/1/2022-12/2/2022 (The Medlar): An unusual wine, and a treat to taste it. Lovely nose - some bramble, some sous bois. Nose more inviting than the palate - crunchy acidity - cranberry perhaps? I'd love to try this again, perhaps when not surrounded by wines with less bracing acidity.

2022 Jadotfest (Medlar, Chelsea): Shy on the nose initially, then some cherry and crabapple coming through. Very dry and quite tannic when drunk, not very giving really, and especially tight on the finish. Not unenjoyable, but this tart, youngish wine didn't appreciate being drunk with the two Ursules.

Richard's Jadotfest (The Medlar, Chelsea): A little less ripe than the preceding wine, cranberry, touch of meatiness, slightly leaner, raspberry, spice, fresh acids, grippy, medium length finish.

Jadotfest 2022 (Medlar, London): Really on the red fruits here on pouring; real cherry and cranberry character. Later a couple of pipette drops of grapefruit juice in the mix. The palate is a little less giving but suspect an awkward age thing rather than anything else. Compact but perfectly formed. Slightly prefer this to the '05 Ursules but not much in it.

Very light flavored wine but with some tartness, and fruit diminished. More fruit on second day. Actually very nice and a welcomed change from California pinots, more about structure and body. Drink now.

Red center, slightly less red rim, so some modest signs of age. Strong, complex, and delightful nose of cherries, a bit of orange peel, violets, and a hint of forest air. Palate of cherries, some forest floor and stone, good acidity, medium-light silky body though with light tannin, and a pleasant finish. Palate is restrained relative to the nose -- I could happily smell this all day. Last of 3 bottles and the best of them; unsure if more age will completely resolve tannin without loss of nose/fruit.

Nice expressive aromas of clove cinnamon, tobacco, rosemary, cherry and raspberry. Medium body. Nowhere near the voluptuous silkiness of the 2002. In a good place now if still a bit reticent. Worry about this during out. Vibrant acidity and a hint of grip. Still a few years left. Unsure if there is really any upside...

Red center, red rim, modest signs of age. Sweeter spring cherries, dried orange peel, cloves, blackberry and violets. Smooth, black cherries, limestone, touch of blackcurrants, sinewy, good acidity and tannin still, white chocolate, a little leafy, very good finish. Much better than the previous bottle, but still hard to know where this will go. Its very restrained, good fruit, but significant acidity and tannin for a 12 year old wine. Not sure if the fruit will last for another 5 to 8 years. Will keep the last bottle to see what happens.

Good red center, red rim with slight sings of age. Reticent nose, sweet cherries, strawberries, a little primary. Smooth, faded raspberries, woody note (not pleasant), lacking fruit, good acidity still, okay length of pale fruit. Either this has a way to go, or its already gone. Good structure still but lacking fruit. Can hope for more from the other bottles maybe.

bright red, clear, fresh on opening. Decanted for two hours. Opens with a good red cherry flavor, a bit tart, mid palate a bit disappointing, although some nice dark, slightly bitter notes, and then a very pleasant somewhat spicy finish, with lots of red cherry. I still think the 2005 Burgundies need more time, or maybe they just are not destined to be that great.

Lean though with a certain elegance. The green/tannic finish was off-putting. I will hold my other bottle for several years. Hopefully it will smooth out. I was surprised by the lack of mid-palate fruit in a great Burgundy vintage.

Nose of bitter cherry and dried orange peel. Similar flavors with a slight mineral streak. Medium body with bright acidity. A bit of sharp oak and some alcohol heat throw off the finish.

Another great young burg, subltle nose-ethereal, sour cherry, crushed rock, soil. Palate- shy hint of ripe-rich dark fruit-dry puckery-great acidity showboated during the textured finish-last sip was the best. 91+
