A whole 6 years since the last, so let's do a fresh note...brickish garnet color with transparency. Aromas of mushroom, earth, dusty cedar chest, dark fruits, lemon, orange, fresh herbs, potpourri, anise, and dry tea leaves. No complaints there. Medium (+) body, acid, and finish, with flavors of high toned red fruits like cranberry and cherry, bitter orange peel, a fair amount of lingering oak spice, lemon, and minerals. Really solid pinot that's drinking well. Sadly my last bottle, but could probably last another few years as well.

Wonderfully balanced Sta. Rita Hills pinot. Dark fruit inflected, but with some red currant notes, secondary flavors have developed, still lots of fruit. Smooth tannins not fully resolved. Some spice, earth, and evergreen on the nose. Long finish. Matured, but no reason to rush drinking any remaining bottles.

So very delicious! Lots of earth and mineral framed by some nice cherry and pomegranate. After some air it's firmed up a bit, and developed some sense of crushed rock and flowers and herbs. Excellent.

I actually liked this wine, much to my surprise. It's big, ripe, and somewhat alcoholic, but the fruit is so big and exuberant that I couldn't help but smile. Plus, it does taste something like pinot noir, with ripe red cherry and strawberry dominating. Good acidity still holding all that together, and well integrated tannins.

Very well balanced california pinot. Light in color. Somewhere between a lighter balanced Oregon pinot and a fuller California pinot. I imagine this would appeal to a broad range of wine drinkers

Nice bouquet, full of peppery spice, forest floor, and tart red berry fruit. There's a lot of verve and life in this pinot, it sits solidly in the "red fruit" spectrum of flavor. Tart cranberry, red cherry, and plum skin flavors all come through, along with a pleasant, balanced wood note, and a finish of cola and grape stem. That finish is a bit short but still doesn't do much harm. There's unfortunately a little bit of heat too on the finish, despite the modest 14.1 alcohol. A very enjoyable bottle.

I think this has hit a bit of a dumb phase... as pinot often does. I've enjoyed it before, and I'm sure I will again, but right now I'll let the rest of the bottle sleep awhile.

Hate to go against the grain, but this was a major disappointment. Upon opening, it showed virtually nothing. After about an hour and a half, it opened up a little, displaying a typical Pinot nose. Light to medium color, some oak and a little strawberry on the nose. Very hot wine, oak is prominent, displaying unresolved tannins and insufficient fruit to mask the high alcohol profile. A very unusual, almost spicy character. An undercurrent of bitterness that carried over into the finish. Drinkable, but not what I expect from a high-profile Pinot Noir at this price point. Overall, this gives the impression of an over extracted, somewhat unbalanced wine that is stretching to reach levels that are beyond its capacity. Will it settle down and improve with more bottle age? I think this is problematic,

double decanted, much better than a bottle about a year ago. Dark fruits, ample acidity, perhaps a hint of earth. My inclination is to let it go a while to see if there is any development.

Deep ruby color. Nose of earth, smoke, and cinnamon, along with some dark berry jam and maybe some cherry pie sitting underneath. Medium bodied with a decidedly red fruit focused palate, along with some earth and spice, and a long finish. Dude saying short finish is smoking crack. Good acidity. This is really well made. Very nice bottle of pinot. Went fantastically with Burgundy braised oxtails with creamy grits (duh). Re-buy for sure; glad I have another. 91-92 for me.

Nose: Cherry and cranberry, with a touch of spice, smoke, dry leather, and autumn leaves. Elegant but reserved. Would like more expressiveness.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied but a tad lifeless.
Palate: Cherry pit and flowers, with a nice flinty minerality and hint of earth. But like the nose, rather muted. Some acidity before the medium-length finish, which is quite dry and shows tea leaf, a touch of heat, and a bit of tannin.
A pretty good pinot with considerable elegance and sense of place but also a bit of stage fright.

Very solid pinot. Popped the first of two on Xmas Day. Drank half the bottle while my dad and brother were distracted with an IPA and a Russian stout. Nice and smooth with a very pleasant finish. I confess that I usually like my Pinot with a heavier mustiness in both aroma and taste, but this was nicely done. Though a bit high on the price point, it definitely stood with the higher priced pinots. I'd buy again.

Tasted non blind at a restaurant. Opened and briefly decanted before serving. Followed over two hours. Garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose is a bit grapefruity up front like I tend to get from a Rosella's vineyard Pinot Noir with added notes of cloves, sandalwood, berries and a bit of white pepper. Flavors of berries, raspberries and cherries. Medium to bright acidity, medium tannins, medium body. Drink now with some air or continue to hold, perhaps into the medium term? 90.

Being that today is 'Take your pants for a walk day', I figured the most logical wine to open would be something by the hands of Peter Cargasacchi, as only he would understand the true meaning of the holiday, or even just what taking pants for a walk means.
I draw a glass to my nose, then realize I didn't have any wine in it, but recognize with clear and confident authority that the glass does not have cupboard funk in it, therefore I can proceed by pouring some wine into it.
Once graced by the Pinot Noir, after slowly swirling the glass clockwise, my nose was greeted with a genial warmth - not to be confused with a genital wart - blossoming with fresh Northwest berries, the scent of wildflowers in the prairie meadow, a touch of Landreth-style raw ('cooked') meat, and a dose of smoked wood so tender that I felt gently kissed on the forehead. I then realized the top of the glass rim had a touch of wine spilled from the pour, and my head had come into contact with it.
The mouthfeel is soft and weighty, yet extremely bright and acidic - a combination of silky and sharp seen only on WineBerserkers.com threads that feature both Dick Kreuger and Ty Hockstaff. The alcohol on this has got to be lower than 14.3% claimed on the label - it's wonderfully low - Zachary Lang's navel low, even. I'm sure this will go wonderfully with food, as it has such a pleasant fruit profile of Washington cherries and wild raspberries and blackberries combined with a mouth cleansing acidity. The wine siren, she commands me to eat, so I succumb to her song. I prepare wood plank wild salmon - 100% Panda free - and commence to enjoy my meal in utter loneliness.
The finish on this Pinot Noir gains a bit of a syrupy sweetness - more so than I'd like, and more than was present on the palate, as well as more than what is present in the writings of Bob Wood when anyone mentions music other than Jimmy Buffet with praise. The finish is of medium length - 20 seconds, perhaps - and trails off with the cherry and berry profile that has been dancing across my palate from the first sip.
I believe tomorrow this wine will shine brighter than Michel Abood's forehead on a summer day. It should, since it is National Milk Chocolate Day.
