Finally got another bottle and got a really good read on this one over the course of the afternoon. 100% Chard, no dosage, disgorged May 2020. This is more about being delicious than being cerebral. Lots of pure lemon here, the Chardonnay really speaks. And with the elevage, the wood imparts a few delicious qualities to the wine by giving the lemon a creamier note, and also lifting the apple with a caramel feel, like a candied apple. Juicy, with some stone fruit of apricot too. The kind of wine where the quality feels really high to me, the fruit more sunny and delicious. Really enjoyed this and I'd say this is int a good spot to drink, a vintage that shows well now.

This was gifted to me by a kind friend. Took to dinner, started to enjoy it and then we had to leave the table quickly because my wife was not feeling great. So, we left the bottle but my quick take impression was good density, more open-knitted and some supporting saline. I want to get another and assess it again, but from the glass I had, I really enjoyed it.

Aromas of ripe citrus and apples, autolysis and toast. Quite hefty, with a lot of fruit and a dry finish. Feels rather low on acidity. Performed better on day two, with better intensity and more power.

First bottle from Marguet and this was quite impressive. Yes this was Ambonnay based ripeness and richness. But balanced and delicious. Some strawberry and baked pear, and ripe apple. Mineral and a bit of pastry crust. The palate has such volume and richness but still fresh and balanced. I loved it

Consumed over two hours. Not much development in bottle. Moderate flavors of lemon, chalk, finishing with a touch of biscuit and saline. Enjoyable now. Moderate complexity. Disgorged May-20. 58% Chardonnay, 42% Pinot Noir. 91-92.

Pretty damn good. Moderate body, wonderful acid that’s really well balanced. Solid orchard fruit, with the aforementioned acid creating a lovely finish. Still a baby, but no worry in popping one now.

In my continuing research to reacquaint myself with some grower Champagne I wanted to have this alongside the Bouchard. This was a more lean and mineral expression of Pinot Noir than the Ursules. It was an interesting comparison. While I also thought this was really good, neither of these wines excite me in quite the same way as Filaine or Collin. Unlike the Bouchard, I have a couple more of these to follow. Will try again in a couple of years.

Champagne Night (Perman Wine Selections - Chicago IL): Tasting, small glass, brief note. Very berry from start-to-finish. Much more powerful and attention-seeking vs Cramant, but also slightly awkward and less graceful (for me). But most others preferred this wine.

2015 Marguet mini-horizontal: Wow again, really nice and layered. For today, probably the best of our mini 2015 Marguet lineup here. While all four are clearly cut from the same cloth (producer+vintage), the two lieux-dits show more depth than the village wines even today.

This showed well…not overly austere, as can be the risk with these wines in their youth.

Full of citrus and very mineral. Not in love, but very drinkable. Not worth the price point.
