This was excellent. Quite elegant and refined. Good complexity for a Gamay. Excellent acidity. Some minerality. Very food friendly. One of the best Gamays I’ve had.

Consistent with previous bottle. Loaded with high toned red fruits and floral notes with a brightness to the fruit that is just really pretty. Touch of mineral driven savoriness on the finish. Love this wine.

Bright magenta, fresh cut roses and voilets on the nose. Sugar plums on the palate and well balanced tannins. Sure, drinking well now and probably not a wine that will last a decade but it is lovely drinking now. Tasty and moreish.
like other good beaujolais, a wine of freshness, quaffability, and approachable fruit without a lot of underlying structure. some serious strawberries tasted here and it was a lovely paring with Alexander the Great's Peking Duck. but nothing to chase after.

Drunk on a hot day in Rome in a beautiful room with little ac.
Beautiful buttery blueberry crisp on the nose, we couldn’t stop smelling! Delicious and rich atmosphere in the bottle, immediately drinkable.
Light effervescence, cinnamon or other sling spices from the get go, with red fruit and other rich treasures alongside. Maybe stewed/baked fruits, but definitely a fresh, vibrant quality throughout. Celery came to mind as well.
Rich and a balanced savoriness without being so complex as to have to work to enjoy! Yum! France takes Italy by way of Brooklyn. Glad it made the journey.

So I love me some Cru Beaujolais and a local shop had some of my usual suspects....but then I saw something out of the corner of my eye. 'Leroy'. I'm not a big Burgundy guy but I'm obviously familiar with the producer. The conundrum was the price vs. Some of my other favorite producers. Was it worth literally double the price?? Screw it, let's give it a go! And while I fully expected to be a little disappointed.....I'm definitely not! This is outstanding! Clean, pure gamay fruit but with a bit more complexity and structure compared to other Cru Beaujolais. Absolutley delicious and one of the more enjoyable bottles that I've had in a while. Is it worth twice the cost of other top producers in the region?? I'm not sure....but I'm not mad that I bought this! Cheers!

This is perfectly enjoyable bojo but no where remotely close to far, far less expensive Cru Bojo. If you ignored the Leroy, there’s no way you’re enjoying this nearly as much as any number of other options. Save your money and pass on this.

Decanted for around 30 minutes. Explosive red fruit and floral notes on the nose with ripe raspberry and cherry notes. Similar flavors on the palate with bright, juicy red fruits mixed with fresh florals and slightly earthy undertones. Medium+ acid and tannin gives a bit of grip in the mouth. Very happy to have a few more bottles of this because I think it will continue to get better but definitely delicious right now.

Felt like something was missing for me. Wouldn’t have placed this as Beaujolais, more tannic, has a bite, and fairly short. Maybe should have some more age on it. It was interesting but not my favorite.

This is an incredibly dense gamay, definitely a gamay made like a red burgundy (and a ripe one at that). That being said it's very good, dark fruited, some tannins. Reminds me of Godard, definitely not like the gang of 4 bojos..

This was, hands down, the most technically perfect gamay I have ever tried. I really enjoyed this, although it lacked that feeling of wild abandon that the best Beaujolais can give. Still, I would drink a bottle of this any day.

Spectacular for a gamay! First pour revealed spices, deep dark fruits and cherries. Still a tannic bite, feels like this can age quite a bit. Firm and a bit short, though beautiful. Very Pinot-like profile. With air, the nose showed more sweetness, becoming more akin a Beaujolais, but still with an additional depth.
A 100 points for the wine making, 91+ for the actual wine in the glass. Great experience!
Overall an incredibly strong showing from Lalou’s ‘19 Bourgogne Gamay. Highly recommend letting decant for 4+ hours (or waiting 5-10 years before opening), we had our first taste at hour 2.5 and it needed time. Planning to buy more and let sit, should be even more delectable in 2028. Tasting notes: strong, dark fruits, nice granularity,(hints of wet pebble), maple in the mid palate, maintains the prototypical effervescence of a playful gamay while adding a line of pinot-derived complexity, a lovely florality presented with time. Really interesting wine to buy from Leroy at this price-point and highly recomendable.

Perfumed nose of red cherries and fruit, a hint of pepper, and spices. The palate is a bit darker and more concentrated with nice acidity and crunchy red fruit. Nice finish. This wine is obviously very young and needed quite a bit of air to show. Definitely made in a "Burgundian" style (i.e. not carbonic) but very tasty. I think this needs 5-10 years. 93+

Trying to taste some 2019s to get a feel for them as they come into the market... this is tight and young, but has plenty of promise; the nose is full of red berry fruits, flora notes, and a bit of minerality. The palate has a hint of spritz or something initially that disappears pretty quickly and then shows lovely bright fruit and mineral notes. Good concentration and length, but tightens up and likely needs 2-4 years to really come into its own.
Wow this is much better on day 2. The nose is similar, but has a bit darker tone to the fruit. The palate however has another level of depth and balance that wasn't there. It flows and has a richness, but also still feels sinewy and light. Long finish. If drinking young I'd decant for several hours, but ideally wait a couple years on this.

Decanted and consumed over 1 hour. Beautiful aromas of fresh strawberry jam. Similar flavors. Suave texture. Fresh. I was immediately struck by the elegance. Not showing much depth, but it appears to be there. Enjoyable now, but this needs some time. Revisit in 2023. 91-93.

Bright ruby color with such an aromatic bouquet of baking spices on the nose. Flavors of pomegranate seed, red cherry, cranberry, kirsch, and clove. Continued to develop in glass with flavors of strawberry, moss and just a bit of bubble gum. Juicy on the palate with beautiful acidity, lush and velvety tannin structure (well integrated though), and a smooth long finish.

Holy smokes! Not sure what everyone else has been drinking to only barely give this 90pts - this hit it out of the park for me. DRC-ousted Lalou Bize-Leroy has made an amazing Gamay and I have to confess my ignorance - I didn't know Gamay was allowed in the burgundian appellations. Anyway, the wine is earthy and mushroomy, with a distinct sense of wet soil and rained pavers, finished off with a peppery smokiness. I used to buy a little beaujolais as a reaction to my early Amarone-heavy days, but it's been quite a few years since I regularly dabbled. But this feels like it would give the best producers there a good run for the money. Heavenly wine.

Showed much promise despite initially being extremely disjointed on opening. Almost a bit of CO2. Got much much better over the course of 3-4 hours.
Will hold remaining 5 bottles for minimum of 1-2 years before trying again. I really see this as a wine that won’t peak until somewhere between 2024-2029.
I was so excited to taste this but honestly don’t know what to make of it. First impression was the wrong side of carbonic maceration with tropical bubblegum fruit. With air there was some more depth, but I had to search for it. In the end this is 2019 and it is Leroy so I don’t take too much stock in this early impression.

An absolutely stunning wine. Focused structured and pure. Hard to justify the price point but this nats up there with all the big names of Beaujolais. It’s my understanding this fruit comes from Regnie in Beaujolais. If anyone can verify would be great full.
We enjoyed our 1st bottle of 6 of this Gamay from the Bourgogne region, which is not common from our understanding. At this point in time, this 2019 is not overly complex, but quite enjoyable with red tart fruit that is dominated by baking spices and a very dry finish. Went perfectly with our grilled kielbasa sausages with Anita's homemade beet and cabbage coleslaw. Drink over the next 5 years.

While this is nice on the nose, it’s disappointing on the palate, and I agree with the note below that it has grippy and astringent tannin in that it has spent a little too much time on the skins. Seems more Leroy in style than Beaujolais, and I would rather have Leroy’s Bourgogne rouge when I want low-end Leroy or “real” Cru Beaujolais from Foillard when I want Beaujolais.

Nose is immediately quality gamay, violets, crushed rocks, other dark florals and juicy dark berries. Palate matches nose with a touch of white pepper, quite a bit of structure for gamay, grippy and astringent tannin, berries and more dark florals on the back, good finish. For me very cru beaujolais, very nice wine, for me QpR is ok, I got what I expected which was a very nice gamay.

Fun wine to taste now; lots of blueberry, raspberry aromas that are quite ripe and yet fresh at the same time. A bit of dark chocolate comes through with no signs of new oak at present. Soft, supple tannins that are not obtrusive today with an ever-so-slighty lowish acid impression. I would imagine that might close down in a few years but this is really accessible right now. Would be fun to track over the next 5-10 years. 91+

of course I should have guessed mdm Leroy makes a great Gamay. blinded several people on this and got guesses from across the board, but it jumps out of the gate like an Italian with that dusty rusticness but then resolves in the glass to elegance where we all ended up guessing burgundy pinot. either way its tasty

With air there was some more depth, but I had to search for it. In the end this is 2019 and it is Leroy so I don’t take too much stock in this early impression.

This was superb even at the very front end of the window. Glad I have five left.

Crushed it quick. Have 3 more bottles to do a formal note on later.

Flowers and berries. Tannins more evident tonight with a turkey dinner.

This is damn good juice for the price. Kudos to Leroy for making a great Gamay. Clean and pure fruit with a silky but peppery finish.
