Deep garnet/red. Nose reminds of Leroy. No forest floor, more teenager of cherries, berries. Taste mouthfilling and delightful. The key with these is aging.

This Aubert was not just singing; it hit high C. We decanted this and immediately served with cheese, charcuterie and other goodies. It was beautifully balanced with enjoyable spice notes. The aromatics were tantalizing and the taste was rich and luscious yet it had a lovely "airy" quality. The finish went on and on and on. A real beauty!

Pooped/poured, floral nose and taste, glycerin silky mouthfeel, blue fruit and some grapefruit on the front with a 30 second finish, some small heat on the finish - this is drinking really well now.
<update> same bottle next day (from nitrogen preservation dispenser) This wine has such a soft mouthfeel while delivering the fruit with floral tones - wow I love the Aubert Pinot style - the alcohol level once again did not intrude. I'm bumping this to 94 pts.

Clear and clean cherry and berry fruit. High alcohol, but it doesn't overwhelm. All in all, a very nice pinot, I haven't had many with this clarity of fruit flavor.

Strong stuff--not sure it's ready. Seven years old and still overpowering. Deep dark thick color--like a syrah--and some syrahs are not as dark. Purple fruits, slightest cola notes and red meat on the nose. Dark fruit and balanced acidity on the palate. Alcohol noticeable but not obtrusive. Finish is moderate-not overly long for a wine this dark. Compared to a 2007 Kistler/Kistler this is much less pinot-like. Not a style I crave. Guests felt the same. Finish nothing to write home about

really surprised by this. nice color and nose. full of red and blue fruit. no heat on the nose. nice wood and little spice. palate is smooth with fruit, wood and earth all pretty well integrated. nice mouth feel although a tad lacking for an aubert. finish is lengthy and overall nice, although there was just a hint of abrasion.

Fall 2012 Blind Tasting Dinner at Hawley's: Despite being wrapped in tin foil, this bottle was nailed as Aubert. A fair amount of spice on the nose. The amazing thing about this wine was not only how good it is, but how well it hides its 15.8% alc. I got some Kirsch liquor on the nose. Also some wood on the finish, but not excessive. This wine didn't require food and was enjoyable on its own. A great effort.

Finally decided to open one of these with some trepidation given the conflicting opinions. Deep red, initially rather closed on the nose; great depth on the palate with candied somewhat prunish flavors and a bit of alcohol on the finish. Clearly in the deeply extracted Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir school a la Kistler but with a bit more finesse. Still not to my liking and clearly a wine that if you did share a bottle with a friend, your head would notice it the next day, given the almost 16% alcohol.

Great aromatics...pencil shavings, no brett or barnyard funk...certainly dark in color and fruit forward, but I found it a bit more restrained than some of the other 05 California pinots. oh, I do agree with some of the comments regarding a bit of heat from the ETOH.

A blockbuster. Decanted about 1 hour--left about a third in the bottle to see the difference because of some of the reviews below.
Nose: Actually reminded me a lot of southern cali pinots. Lots of pepper, pomegranate, dark cherry, cinnamon, forest floor and a strong floral component. Awesome.
Texture: Unreal. The texture was pure velvet. Haven't had a texture like this since 02' Bruno Clair (fonteney)
Profile: Really matched the nose. So much flavor--so much but so delicate and focused. Dark berry, tar, forest floor, black pepper, strawberry, rasberry...........on and on
Balance: Was almost perfectly balanced. I do agree with the most of the reviews--some heat on the finish.
Finish: Never ended
The wine poured from the bottle seemed a tad more intense. This wine is ready to go but certainly will evolve in the next 3-5 years. OUTSTANDING.

This is a tatto on the brain. Permanent marker on how good Aubert can be. Color is a deep red with no sign of age. Bouquet of rasberry, strawberry and dry autumn leaves. Wine explodes in your mouth with young cherry, berry and strawberry. A hint of cranberry on the finish with baking spice and cinnamon. . There is some heat but it coats the palate more than intefers with the experience. This is a whowsa experience. As good as a young pont gets for my tastes. It would have rated better but a few hours in, the wine started to fall apart a little and get a little flabby.

From start to finish, this is what wine is about. From a nice fragrant berry nose to the sip of wine. The complexity in the taste that included dark fruits and a little spice. This bottle was very well liked at the tasting.

I suppose this wine is a good example of "to each his own", or perhaps of the subjectivity of numerical ratings, whether they be from the various pundit reviewers, or each other. I realize that others have loved this wine. I found it poor. To me it tastes generic - just like all the other boutiquey overpriced mailing-list-only Cali Pinots I've had recently. It is hot, a bit bitter, over-extracted and lacking in Pinot character, or any sense of place. There is fruit, but it tastes manufactured, rather than grown and farmed. The oak is overbearing. It tastes like tree resin.

Okay, no doubt that this is a well made wine. But is it well made for everyone? The color is deep ruby purple. The aroma has some, I emphasize some, Pinot typicity. It is heady with strawberries, dark cherries, and a bit of forest floor. The palate is full with cherries and dark berries. The juice comes off as extracted with a touch of bitterness on the finish. I would also characterize the fruit as being somewhat overripe with loads of sap. The alcohol is a little too warm. For my tastes, I would like more tension between the players. This is lush, ripe, forward, and it's all quite obvious. Perhaps I like my Pinots a little more thought provoking.

I find it impossible to provide a tasting note for this wine that will do it justice. This wine is flat-out spectacular, and left me and my Thanksgiving dinner guests speechless. For now, all I can say is this wine is, hands-down, the single best domestic pinot nor I've ever had. I am heartbroken to have only one more bottle of this in my cellar.

Lovely pinot. Nice strawberry and cherry nose that intensified when drinking. Opened bottle and let sit for a half an hour before pouring, which seemed about right at this stage in its evolution.

Tasted blind. Pure cherry and strawberry fruit, some earth and spice. Really pushing the envelope on ripeness (IMHO pushing it too far). A thick, syrupy texture but there's just enough acidity to keep the palate energetic. Long spicy finish. Very well made wine, but just not my style. Someone in the group loved it and gave it a 99.
