1993 survey, or filling a hole with Chave (Chicago, IL): Absolutely outstanding bottle of red Burgundy tonight; probably my favourite. This was very filigreed and delineated next to the much burlier Corton Pougets. I loved the laser-focused precision on this, with its small red berry flavours and vein of bright acidity. Like the Pougets, a wine that still has plenty of gas in the tank.

Last bottle from a case. Color shows no signs of age. Initially quite firm with nicely developed nose. After an hour, still has the tannic backbone but filling out nicely. Excellent wine at its prime, with years to go.
Bought 6 bottles in 1995 and have had them properly cellared. This is the 3rd bottle I've had and it seems to have faded a little. I'll try another soon.

Unashamedly / unmistakably Gevrey earth character. Some very nice fruit on the attack, cherries, interwoven with great acidity that make me think this can go for longer but is drinking very well now. I felt it started to loose some fruit after 2 hours so it will be a personal preference if you age those it is going to be more on the earthy side while now you have the tiny bit of primary aspect also which would be my personal preference so I would drink them. 93+
Very good wine exceeding my expectations, I preferred this side by side a Hudelot Noellat CdV 02 (though I felt the HN wasn't the best bottle) - I am not a huge fan of this producer but this was very good. Thanks for sharing this Lukasz!

HDH December auction; 12/13/2018-12/15/2018 (Chicago, IL): Killer bottle, better than my last. Incredibly youthful, with heaps of generous fruit and lots of rustic, earthy structure. Tons of tannin and earth still, but the fruit here is showing very fresh. No muddiness or dirt to detract from this wine at all.

Wines Tasted at HDH Auction; 12/13/2018-12/15/2018 (Spiaggia - Chicago IL): Served double blind, correctly identified as Gevrey 1er. Black meaty and showing blots of slowly maturing black fruit, roasted meat and savory spice. Very good power and length. I doubt there is more upside, but so much life going forward.

Good bottle. A lifted aroma component that I sometimes think of as orange-peel but this is darker, adds liveliness and interest to much density in both the nose and palate. This has always been a bit four-square and tannic, probably always will be, but should continue to last.

Opened an hour before serving. Black fruit with roast game character. Lots of structure, but wonderfully matured, softened and integrated. Slightly better when first served vs when finished two hours later.

I've said before that I think Jadot's CSJ is as good as many of his grand crus, and this was another reason why. Just fabulous, in that zone where the fruit's still incredibly fresh and vibrant, but it's also showing so much in terms of tertiary depth with an array of savoury mushroom, leather, and mineral notes augmenting the fruit. Powerful with a fair bit of tannin still lingering on the palate - I have no doubt that this'll be amazing with more time.

Salil does Chicago 3; 4/6/2017-4/8/2017 (Chicago, IL): A stupendous bottle of one of Jadot's best wines. This has just a slight bit of barnyard and Burgundian mushroom funk on the nose, but that is followed by lots of red fruits. The palate shows very nice balance between the minerally fresh earth and the red fruit. This is a very tightly-knit package -- the tannins are still pretty coarse, which I found a bit surprising, but given the density of the raw materials here, I'm in no rush to open the rest of my bottles.

This has finally entered a mature stage, with some earthy mushroom and secondary aromas appearing over the still present black fruit. Lovely balance of body and acidity. Drinking very well right now.

Belated Birthday Dinner (Table 6 (Denver, CO)): Decanted 20 minutes. Light reddish violet with some light orange edge. Nose is quite fresh, featuring cherries, a little pinot funk/mushroom and an interesting unique 'other' aroma that folks called fresh cucumber cut from a distance or watermelon. Whatever, it added a very nice dimension. Palate was velvety, with medium weight fruit that had plenty of just balancing flinty acidity by midpalate which followed to a finesseful finish. Tannins had no edges at all; just added a sense of power. Table's WOTN.

This is a spectacular Burgundy. Soaring nose of red fruits, crushed rocks and herbs. Layered on the palate with fantastic earthy notes of frui, mushroom, spice and leather. Lovely texture and acidity. It begs you to go back for more. In the zone right now and should hold for many, many more years. A great choice by Cheryl!

Popped and poured and enjoyed throughout dinner. BTW, the wild mushroom fettucini was to die for and went perfectly with the wine. It was an interesting comparison to the 1990 that I had a couple of months ago. The 1993 was dark garnet with some bricking on the edge. The perfume was wonderful from the get go. Lovely smells of dark cherries, smoke with some nice secondary aromas and a bit of burgundy stink that all seemed to come together as the wine opened up. There was a nice tart acid backbone to a rich expansive mid palate of dark cherries, minerals and earth. There are still some fine tannins lingering on the long finish. As compared to the 1990 a couple of months ago, I think this wine will age longer. The 90 was softer, more ripe and did not have the smoky notes noted on this wine. It was delicious now, more showy, but did not have the acidic backbone of the 93.

Mature brick-red color. Burnt sour cherry flavors with toasted oak and a little cigar box. A little vegetal (cauliflower) with stewed prunes and a little hint of greens. Very smooth finish. Lovely with roast goose and plums, raisins and pecans. Very good match with meal. This is really at peak for those who like mature wines.

Deep, youthful color. Wonderfully complex nose of tart cherry, earth, and smoke. Medium body with great acidity, red fruit, some menthol, and Gevrey iron. Crisp but not overly raspy acdity as on the nose. Very well positioned for a long, graceful evolution but already excellent now.

Ready for business, but will improve with a few more years. Feels good, with slick balance, very very concentrated fruit - mostly cherries and some plums, and solid acidity. Has a very tasty smoky old oak in the background, which adds a lot to the offered flavors. Full body. Big tasty finish. Everything about this wine is very good, but lacks personality in my opinion. I do believe this one would be hard to identify in a blind tasting. A lovely solid bottle of wine though that does offer fantastic value as well. Wish I had a few more..
