Decanted ~3 hours before serving. It needed the time and air to open up. This is a monster wine with everything turned up to 11. I served this alongside a Niepoort Coche to illustrate the difference in body and alcohol level you can see in white wines. This aptly played the role of the big-bodied exemplar. Very ripe, and in some ways almost cartoonish.

Birthday/Valentine's Day bottle at Alexander's Garden......Carol was so cute arranging a birthday dinner for me, not knowing that I was arranging an early Valentine's dinner for her.......
Slow ox'd this with cork out of bottle for 2 hours before putting it under stopper and taking it tableside.
Vanilla, lemon cream, pear, oak and barrel spice on the nose and palate. Thoroughly enjoyed with her beet salad and my escargot. Last glass at home, after 4+ hours of slow ox reveals a bit more oak on the ending. So smooth, classy and rich.....Happy Valentine's baby.
Absolutely brilliant The nose was peach and white flowers. The palate is white flowers, peach, a hint of tangerine and a little oak. The finish is just beautiful. As said by others, this vineyard, as with all Aubert chardonnays should not be served too cold. Served with a platter of sushi.

Better than my last bottle which may have been off. Lovely classic Aubert, seems to be more restrained with the oak, but still has the Aubert precision. Great drink.

Decanted two (2) hours. Displays intense aromas of apple, pear, lemon meringue, roasted nuts & warm brioche. Wonderful texture. An array of ripe orchard and citrus fruit flavors are united with notes of honeysuckle and marzipan placed upon mineral base. Well balanced, viscosity is leveled with active acidity that leads to long even finish. Just entering its drinking window and should reward well through the decade and beyond.
Maybe I was off this day, but this wasn't as good as other Auberts I've had. Still great, but not the precise flavors I've had recently. Still a wonderful drink. I won't score it and say it was me.

PnP, chilled w/10 mins glass time. Clear, med straw color. Mineral nose. Great stuff. Med/full body/intensity. Cold stone, sharp tart edge, big fruit, red apple, young, long finish. Delicious stuff, hold at least 3 more years. Nothing off, D/J winery direct, $105
Such clean and crisp and powerful wine. honeysuckle, robust bouquet on the nose, with lots green, citrus, and stone fruit notes. The palate is quite conectrated and delicious. One of the betterAubert wines I’ve had - and they have all been delicious.

Simply killer, with each bottle better than the previous one. Lime and green melon give a zesty feel to this fully fruited, substantial white. This is serious and I just love it. (96)
Another expressive, complex Chardonnay from Aubert. Rich tropical fruits with pineapple, orange peel and pear flavors. Perfect balance with great acidity and floral notes. This is lush and delicious.

Wild and Crazy Memorial Weekend - Sunday (Chris' Castle aka Melissa's Manor): See sfwinelover1 for prep. Way young, even with all the oxygen it received, but hey, it's Aubert! Even in its impetuous youth, Aubert manages to stand out in a crowd! I prefer these wines with 6-8 years of age on them, but I am not adverse to robbing the cradle with these wines! My second favorite Chardonnay of the night....not quite up to a 17 Lauren, but still pretty darn tasty! CIX is one of my favorite vineyards at Aubert (who am I kidding, I love em all!) Stone fruit...yada yada yada...creamy ... yada yada yada...good juice! 93+ to 94 but huge upside....don't touch these until 6 years old minimum....unless you are opening one for me!
Best of the World Wine Night (ex-Italy) (The csimm_M Estate): Second of three from my ‘19 Aubert tranche. I don’t have a lot to add to my 8/22 note except that 1) I think it showed better than fellow guests and CT friends WBW and Bsumoba but agree that the ‘17 Lauren beat the pants off of it, and 2) despite giving it an hour and a half of air, then slow oxing for another hour and a half and having it open for 6 hours at the event, it showed considerably better on days 2 & 3, both with additional air and being given an hour at room temp before drinking. Lowering my grade ever so slightly to 96-97+, but there’s upside here, too. Highly recommended.
Flavors matches nose completely. Nice bitterness that works as an underlying support of the fruits.
This was also good but kinda had me wanting a bit more depth and complexity. Or maybe it just wasn't fair having this next to the Lauren bottling. Still showed well though.

A brilliant bottle of wine. Our guests came to the house prior to going to my club for dinner. We opened this bottle and a bottle of Meursault (that will be finished tonight and rated tomorrow). The nose is pear and white flowers. The palate is white flowers, pear, a hint of tangerine and a little oak. The finish is just beautiful. As said by others, this vineyard, as with all Aubert chardonnays should not be served too cold.
Similar to my prior note--a real beauty. Tasted next to '18 Kistler Durell and '18 Ramey Woolsey. The most luscious of these three excellent chardonnays. Interestingly, out of 8 of us, 3 picked this as WOTN, 3 picked Kistler and 2 picked Ramey.

Enjoyed with some friends last weekend. This is a very well structured Chardonnay and has depth. I just feel Aubert is getting very expensive and there are just so many other great wines at half the price. I need to consider if I want to even stay on the list at these prices.
Pale gold in color. Pronounced aromas of apple, lemon, pear and pastry. High acidity, high alcohol (but not "hot"). Medium body. Flavors of apple, lemon, pear, pineapple. A long finish.
Perhaps a bit too much malolactic conversion/butteriness for me to rate it higher; nevertheless, a really good chardonnay.

First of 3 ($100@) from the winery last fall. On the nose and palate, medium powerful notes of pears, peaches, lychees, white melon, white flowers, river rocks, marzipan, sweet mint, and caramel with a snap of ruby grapefruit and orange peel on the back end. Light to medium gold, full bodied, thick legs. Medium+ acidity, surprisingly potent tannic backbone for a chard, no heat despite the 15% abv. Great complexity, persistence and intensity. Youth continues to be served, enologically, in Noe Valley this week. I’ve found young Aubert chards, while super delicious, can verge on fruit, alcohol and creaminess overload, kinda like a creamsicle for adults. And Mark Aubert may have the same worry, as he advises, perhaps cautions, the impatient American winedrinker, if drinking within 3-5 years of the vintage date [what about those who drink it straight off the truck at @2?], 1) put the bottle upright for 24-48 hours before consumption (D- for me, as I didn’t do this until 6 before), 2/3) pour into a decanter to allow ample air contact and drain sediment for 3-4 hours (a gentlemen’s B, since I gave it that much time but kept it in the bottle (who wants to unnecessarily wash a decanter for anything other than a giant cab?), and 4) serve from the decanter at 55 degrees (no grade, as I drank at off the pour at 62, after refrigeration at 48, then with air at approximately 54, all of which, while slightly qualitatively different, gave similar levels of satisfaction). But I digress. This was more than acceptable off the pour at cool room temp, then just kept getting better and better with more air each night, so that the last glass on night 2 was the most complex, and while this was never unbalanced, the most integrated. This is a wine in full already, without the alcohol, oakiness or creaminess sticking out (I never find Aubert chards to be buttery), with minimal tropical and stone fruit notes more than held in check by crisp minerality and a citric tang. This may not have the elegance or sophistication, yet, of the ‘16 Morlet CDC (100, 2x), but it feels closer to that wine, or even something on the carte at the Hospice de Beaune than at Chez Rombauer. Yet while it’s rigorous and taut, none would ever call it austere or ungenerous. While you can savor this wine on its own from the deck of your manse in the Mayacamas overlooking the Valley on a perfect summer evening, it would, unlike some of Aubert’s offerings which threaten to go over top, work with almost anything not red or bloody you might find while noshing at Auberge, as it perfectly complemented my more humble crab cakes one night, crab macaroni and cheese another. I once told a CT friend I could be happy quaffing as my sole alcohol intake Aubert’s chards, Helen Keplinger’s Rhones, and Andy Erickson’s BDX wines (I know, I also said I could be happy just drinking QCs, PM LPs and Flacs; can’t I have more than one side to my personality?), and this has done nothing to disabuse me of that notion. I didn’t exercise my 2020 allocation—bad reviews and a price hike—and am now regretting, because, really, how many less than great wines has this man made, anywhere? Don’t know how much better this can get, but it sure isn’t infanticide to drink it now, even if it’s certain not to get worse for a long time to come. I’ve probably said nothing more of value than CT friend kjd and taken a lot more words to do so. A screamer, and an easy 97-98+.

If you are looking for overoaked buttery style.., This isn’t it.., complex, interesting, balanced.. Just quite delicious … Thanks to my buddy John for introducing me to this label …
I really like this wine though it continues to be very young. Lychee, rock and a light touch of oak bloom on the nose. There is a rich feel to the wine yet amble acidity to balance everything out. Will age well if I can keep my hands off the remaining bottles. Happy birthday USA. (95+)

Gorgeous gold color with slow legs. Banana, grass, cantalope and green apple on the nose. Pear, honey dew, lemon and apricot on the palate. Long creamy finish.
Bold, lemon and almond nose. Smooth and creamy with citrus, apple, oh so subtle pineapple and a mineraled, toasty lushness that just won’t quit! One of the best Chardonnays I’ve have the privilege to enjoy. Accompanied cedar-plank salmon with friends at home. They were impressed!

Popped and poured; consumed over two nights out of Schott Zwiesel white wine glasses.
To my palate, this is a big, commanding chardonnay. There's plenty to like here -- pretty, ripe tropical fruit and a somewhat oily mouthfeel. This was popular around the table at my in-laws, who prefer bigger wines. I'm a little surprised no one here has mentioned the alcohol. At 15% it stuck out to me a bit on the finish, and kept the wine from being more quaffable.

Wow - this is a great but very young bottle of wine. Pale gold color. The nose erupts with ripe pear, mango and lime zest aromas. Punchy, I think someone said palate dancing. Lots of fruit, oak and flavor depth. Lots of structure. Needs to settle. Should be great in five years or so. (94+)

My first taste of this high-end chard (any cuvee) and to be honest I'm hardly in position to judge a chard. But opened Saturday night instead of a cocktail. Held up all night. Carmelly but complex, screaming to be rolled on the tongue for a long time. Nice balance especially; i.e., not too acidic and not too oaky. Long way to go.

Thanksgiving 2021. Lineup included the following: M Etain 2018 Morlet Estate Cabernet 2012 Canon La Gafferiere 2015 Ca' del Baio Autinbej 2017 The Wise Men of Gotham 2018 Aubert Chardonnay CIX Avignonesi Vino Nobile 2013 Outpost zinfandel 2018
Wow this started the day and it shined. Once again in mouth the wine immediately starts with a creamy mouthfeel. Mid palette is all tropical fruit with mango and bannna rounding out the flavors. Like in my June posting the wine just dances around the tongue. Mango, tangerine, some grapefruit, & ripe melon. Again it finishes with wet stone and a tropical fruit basket. This is a full-bodied and intense wine.

Medium yellow with some haziness. Nose of apple and honey with a whiff of sea air. Tastes of dried pineapple, apple, pear, and orange. Texture is velvety. Acidity is medium plus. Long finish. Big flavors but nicely balanced even at this young age. Certainly one of the best chardonnays I've ever had the pleasure of tasting!

Decanted for an hour first, though I know this wine needs plenty of time to open up right now. A few months ago I noted that 90 minutes was the bare minimum for air time, but I'm not always so patient. Oaky aroma that takes time to integrate and settle. Lemon and lime flavors with a creamy beginning and a long finish that is remarkable. Hard to describe how good this is...I need to be careful not to drool into my glass as I go back for another sip. I like the prior comment about getting emotional and feeling transported to happy places by this wine. I concur. Transcendent.
I found this last night still in my refrigerator unfinished from June 13. Now 7 days since first opened and this wine is singing !! Frankly better than a weeks ago and outstanding.
In mouth is that distinct creamy mouthfeel with so many tropical fruits just dancing around. Mango, tangerine, some grapefruit, & ripe melon. Finish includes some limestone and a floral essence. This is a full-bodied and intense wine that is a real treat.
If my seven days is any indication then I would say this wine is 3-5 years away from being ready.
A PNP experience which really deserves some time. Closed nose at the start with a lemon driven in mouth dominate flavor to follow. In the mid pallete type fruit just morphs into citrus, mango, tangerine, lemon peel all set in a viscous mouth coating wine. Finish lingers for about 1 minute.
I am going to let this sit overnight. Stand by. Not scoring now but it's at least a 95.
Wow! I haven’t been inspired to comment on this site before but what a spectacular wine this is. Made me emotional, brought me back to happy places. Mark Aubert has a gem here. Montrachet like you dream about in a perfect year. Full bodied but with finesse. Tight but slowly evolves on your tongue as it warms. I had it with homemade pecan tartlets and whipped cream. The nuts/brown sugar/butter and the wine were so perfect together. More please.

This is the fourth vintage of this release that I've tried. It was actually a bottle of 2016 CIX that hooked me on Aubert Chardonnay. As expected, the 2019 is not accessible right now without a lot of patience. After 90 minutes of decanting, this wine is just barely beginning to show itself. Definitely hold your bottles for 2-3 years at a minimum.

This isn’t it.., complex, interesting, balanced..
Just quite delicious … Thanks to my buddy John for introducing me to this label …

Similar to prior comments, it’s difficult to not drink the CIX! The usual spiciness of younger Aubert, complex as ever.

This stuff rocks! South Pacific Mangoes 🥭 Pineapple 🍍 … tropical very delicious and long, lingering finish. Great balance, not too acidic … yummy 😋
Probably the best Chardonnay I’ve ever tasted.

Great wine but young. Could drink all day long. Never stays long on restaurant wine lists so you drink them when you see them. My favorite US producer of chardonnay.

Lineup included the following:
M Etain 2018
Morlet Estate Cabernet 2012
Canon La Gafferiere 2015
Ca' del Baio Autinbej 2017
The Wise Men of Gotham 2018
Aubert Chardonnay CIX
Avignonesi Vino Nobile 2013
Outpost zinfandel 2018
