Nice stuff, not in the highest echelons of Crianza value, but still a solid example of the classic style for $15.
Gentle nose with black cherry, plum, and a decent dose of that Rioja oak spice- interesting how they're using a hybrid American/French oak barrel thing. Vanilla and nutmeg make me think of Fig Newtons on the nose, which I get in a lot of Crianza.
Palate a little less interesting for me, being more about dried, tart cherry, puckery acidity, some earthy tobacco- some will love this, but it just isn't my favorite style, especially as here the fruit itself fades before the acid and dusty tannins, leading to a rustic finish.
It didn't last very well into day 2, with the fruit quickly fading and the palate becoming more astringent.
Still, I appreciate the energy at play, and it's well-crafted. Definitely good enough that I'll try their Reserva soon.

Not at the level of better Rioja Crianzas at this price range. Acidic in the end. There are much better options for the extraordinary tempranillo grape.

Another really solid crianza for mid-week drinking. While this may improve with another 6 to 12 months in the cellar, it’s very enjoyable right now and a total bargain for $11 locally.

Nice enough, but a bit one-dimensional. I suppose in line with the price.

Fun, fresh, smooth, with currants, clay, earth and tobacco. Straightforward but shows solid complexity, too.
