Geht Wein besser? 99-100 vvPunkte (Verkostet am 2. November in St-Gallen) www.vvwine.ch

Surely too young but beautifully accessible. I preferred the La Tache 2016 I had two wines later. Thanks Ingo. 99

  • DRC 2019 Vintage Presentation: Usually the La Tache is my favorite wine of the DRC line up. I thought, this year the RC had the edge because it defied the ripe vintage with a sublimely elegant wine that was complex, ripe, ethereal. So elegant, so fresh, yet with a strong palate presence. The squaring of the circle. Wonderful and probably the last time I taste this, given its price.

  • Tasted in a arrivage tasting of all DRC 2019. Overall, the 2019s DRC are beautifully perfumed, very ripe wines, but they also carry a nice vein of acidity that is making them brighter and fresh. The bottles show incredible class, but also a certain ripeness that might be something that needs getting used to for purists. I thought that the terroir was showing beautifully, despite the ripeness of the year. The wines seemeed very different and true to their cru, especially at the beginning of the tasting and again with quite some air. In between the differences were just a tiny bit muddled.
Wow… absolute fireworks. So perfumed, full of finesse and elegance, oozing class. It‘s layered, and deep but with superb litheness. There are flowery notes of rose petals and violets, sweet red fruit, sweet and savory spices, minerality, cedar wood, also some darker plum as well as some underwood. More subtle than La Tâche, but equally great. Medium+ bodied, with superb persistence, high acidity and medium-high tannin that is extremely silky. Super length. Greatness without weight. A sensational wine and as good as it gets.

  • Not much to say other than the obvious…. The finest expression of red fruit, texture and delicacy in the world. If you’re lucky enough to taste the finesse of the greatest Pinot in the world, savor the moment. Though highly enjoyable, opening this at this point felt a bit like slaughtering a baby, but will be useful when tasting this again years from now. The vintage will be highly sought after for quite some time. If you have the means and access I suggest buying, though pricing increasingly becoming atrocious. 19.5++

  • 98-99/100 Fabulous, the greatest Burgundy of 2019, just behind the sumptuously magical Reignots from Arnoux-Lachaux (100-101/ 100)
