It is of course young but still drinking nicely at this point. Intoxicating nose. Brigth red fruits, some spices and earthy notes. Very elegant but also with some concentrated underlying power. Very nice.

Sushi Dinner at Hatsu (Hatsu): Blind. Decant since 2pm, initially had touch of spritz on the nose which blew away. Red cherry, strawberry, lovely aroma of red fruits, Crunchy on the palate, good purity of fruits, revealing candies notes slowly.

Clos de la Marechale Vertical (Decatur, GA): Red fruit, riper, almost liqueured and confected fruit, sweet with juicy acids; good but does it have the extra gear to age well?, seemingly simple at this stage of its development.
Quick decant. Some rustic NSG qualities. Good balance of fruit and acidity, if fairly forgettable as a whole. Should have the structure to develop some interest over time.

Excellent! 91 pour le moment

2022 Excellent Burgundy Adventure; 10/31/2022-11/6/2022 (Burgundy): Expressive nose displaying rich black fruit, blackberry pie, black cherry, licorice, dark flowers, roasted meat, animal and earth. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of rich black fruit, dense and deeply toned, medium acidity, earthy mineral, and a long ripe black fruit driven finish. M. Mugnier’s Marechale clearly expressed the terroir of Nuits St. Georges versus all of his other reds.

Just arrived, so I gave in to curiosity for an early preview. For me the 18’ was a hot mess of low acid 14% alcohol jam-I hope the 19s fare better.
Day 1: Dark, ripe blackberry fruit, low-medium tannin grip, low acid, label says 13.5% alcohol. Tastes like an easy-to-gulp new world Pinot right now-all about that ripe fruit. Without the balance of a stiffening spine of acid and tannin, I wonder how it will be able to integrate and deepen over time. As an early-drinker its fine, but I hope for more from my Burgs.
Day 2 (on Coravin/argon): Fresher tonight with balancing acid and tannins more evident. Bodes more positively for future development. I like this much more than yesterday. Will forget about these bottles for 3-4 years.

wanted to get a baseline for this one. perfectly enjoyable and much better than a recent sampling of the 2018 (which was, um, not great) but not particularly complex at this young age. hints of the future earthy mushroom depth are there but lurking in the background still. my first thought is to give this one another 5 years before resampling.

Yes it's a baby, but I had to try it. This is already a fabulous wine lots of bright red fruits, cherries, a touch of cranberries, a little orange peel, some earthy tones and beautifully balanced. Will be superb with time.

Says 13,5% ABV but... This is dark fruited, plums, blackcurrant, blackberries, some bacon and hanged meat. Peppery, sweet, purple and dense. None of the usual elegance of Mugnier. He did say that he was struggling in these warm vintages, and will have to experiment with other ways of binding and trimming the vines, as they get too ripe and dense. This is clearly an example of this. Slightly better than the 2018 version, but I'm not a fan, and will sell my remaining bottle soon
