Nick A's Pomerol Part 2 (67 Pall Mall, London): A treat at the end of the evening, absolutely in-character as a joyous fully mature Riesling. The nose has a charming torn tarragon leaf character and a touch of butter mintoe, palate not that sweet in the grand scheme of things. Lovely.

Orange in colour and whilst there are alluring aromatics ( whiff of super unleaded meets seville orange - in a balanced and good way!), nothing prepares one for the narcotic experience on the mid-palate. It's full bodied, viscous, fresh, there's serious concentration, huge scale and persistence showing through in textural layers that cascade, on and on. It's sweet but its savoury and the is a complex citrus dance that tantalises and teases. Bravo. Not officially in the vote for WOTN fortunately for those preceding. A real treat unlikely to be revisited. From Zalto.

Pomerol, part 2 (67 Pall Mall): Star-bright mid orange - very pretty. Bright on the nose, too, and delicate, with tangerine, saffron and cedar. Easy and elegant on the palate, with an interesting balance between richer spongecake flavours and the tartness of lime cordial. After a few minutes in the glass a strong note on slightly underripe mango developed - delicious. Lingering finish, too. A lovely wine!

Online Blind Tasting #11: *** Note is based on 2x0,1l bottles filled about 2 days before the tasting from 0,75l bottle *** Glass: Zalto Universal Clear, glowing deep golden color with amber hue. Clean, medium+ intense, fully developing nose. Classic Grünhaus / Ruwer. Candied fruit, cassis, elder, woodruff and slate. Deep and complex. On the palate very lean, precise and elegant. Never fat or cloying. Sweetness is perfectly balanced by the high, racy acidity. Only 7,5% abv. Cassis, candied fruit and exotic fruit, beautiful mineral core. Very good pressure and tension, very dense and balanced. Very long, elegant and fruity finish. Full peak, but this bottle would have stayed on this level for several more years. Way better than my last bottle! 93

One of the greatest rieslings I’ve ever had. Incredible on every dimension - nose, length, depth, complexity, structure ... this is already gorgeous and has 20-30 years ahead of it. Shows as quite dry on the finish!

Superb wine. Amazing nose of ripe stone fruit, peach, apricot, ripe melon, blossom, honey marmalade. Palate is very fresh, delicious, stone fruit, melon, apricot. Very tasty wine, really at its apogee right now.

Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: 4 Guys and mostly Grünhaus (@Private location): Glass: Zalto Universal Popped and poured. Clear, medium golden-amber color. Nose probably also not perfectly clean, at least not with classic Grünhaus flavors. Lively acidity, some earl gray tea, some herbs. Nice wine, but not even close to the others we had this night. Potentially tainted bottle. Not rated. (87-89)

V mature colour golden brown. Gorgeous nose, wafts of mature Riesling , hint of sweetness and botrytis. Beautiful elegance depth and lightness on palate, hint of sweetness but really quite dry for Auslese Very long perfectly balanced finish. Fully mature but will probably stay at this level for years.

Last of 12, pnp but drunk over 3 nights, all notes since 07 fine to very fine, this bottle beginning to show age, but lovely, quite rich, light but very long and complex, almost tending to tropical fruit! F+ (18).

Wonderful wine, a real explosion of flavour. Still plenty of grip. Tropical fruits. No longer sweet at all, really. Wish I could get some more. Not the easiest to match with food though. Cheese course maybe, or pre- or post-meal. 18.5

Notes of apricot, smoke, tobacco, orange zest, incense and crushed stones. Ends on a slightly bitter note. Meidum+ bodied with medium-high acidity and medium sweetness. Great length.

Nick's Pomerol Part II (67 Pall Mall, London): An unscheduled Auslese to perfectly bookend a decadent Pomerol themed dinner, thanks Nick.

Nice one and great form for its age. I found this a little too light but that was good so I could drink the whole bottle on my own!

Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: Mostly Grünhaus with some side kicks (Private Location): Also a hint of cork here, what a pitty! On the nose more ripe apricot and a bit of Earl Grey with a bit of citrus. On the palate intensive, the acidity is well integrated into the wine but by far not as light as the 1990. No Rating.
