My second tasting of this wine and vintage for CellarTracker -- the first was June 5, 2021; done totally independent of the first tasting; heavy-weight foil, real cork, 14 mm maximum wine penetration; cork aroma of generic fruit, pepper, menthol, alcohol; long legs, the color is a yellow/pink; medium to full body; opened, tasted at approximately 18 degrees C, then tasted again at room temperature -- 25 C; nose of cassis, minerals, gooseberries, kiwi; not fruit forward or overly sweet, fast to medium finish; pair with fried or grilled chicken

It's simply good. This is quite possibly the first time that I've had a non-sparkling rose not bouncing around on a Caribbean beach or somewhere around the Mediterranean. This is also the first time that I've thoughtfully consumed a non-sparkling rose with the intention of evaluating it in a non-chaotic setting. Nose of white florals with indiscernable or amalgamated fruit: perhaps peach, citrus. Palate was a little more concrete: strawberries, faint peaches, some grapefruit. Light to medium bodied with a rounded pleasant mouthfeel. Enough acidity to pair with food, but not intrusive - perfect. Light powered finish at adequate length with an herbally spice kick. Objectively solid and well-made; balanced and delicious. *Made from Grenache, Cincault and Rolle. *Sacha Lichine purchased Chateau d'Esclans in 2006. *LVMH acquired 55% stake in 2019 and unleashed an even bigger behemoth marketing blitz. *Whispering Angel debut in 2007 selling 800 cases; more than 300,000 cases sold in 2017. By 2022 it is now THE omnipresent summer rose. Just crazy.

Opened this bottle at Yummy Palace over lunch with a wine mate. We had Fried Shrimps with Kai Lan, Roasted Duck, Iberico Pork, Mentaiko Fried Rice and Beancurd.
Salmon pink in colour with a very refreshing palate. Some wild floral on the nose with orange peel and citrus fruit flavours on the palate.
A straightforward wine that is ideal for a simple meal. Serve well chilled.

Brought this wine to Long Ji Zi Char for dinner with two of my ex-colleagues for a farewell. We ordered crispy fried baby squid, garlic and spicy clams, romaine lettuce sir fried with fermented beancurd, crispy chicken with cereal and pumpkin sauce, and their signature crab bee hoon.
Orangy pink with a rose hue. On the nose and palate the freshness, light cherries, berries and citrus stood out nicely. A very refreshing rose that goes well with a wide variety of food items.
Very good QPR for this wine; do consider going for their Caves d'Esclans Rock Angel if the budget allows.

This seems to be a good example of taking a good product and expanding its sales by cutting corners and costs. A mere and mediocre shadow of what it was. Dull, muddy, and mediocre more than bad. But WAY overpriced for what it is. So long Angel! There are so many better roses at half the price - and far more wonderful roses at this price.

Very reliable even on the slopes albeit for sure this is much better by the beach. Consistently pretty and in no way confectionery, round and welcoming but also firm and really a very dependable choice when looking for a fun loving but good quality wine.

Pale colour, Provence style. Nose is muted. No distinguishable fruits. Mild acidity. It is super flabby and has a really unpleasant finish. I have had a lot of Roses, some good, many bad, and this is simply not good, at least for me. If you enjoy it, wonderful, but please don’t bring it to my house.

Retail $25. "Consisting primarily of Grenache, Cinsault and Rolle.” I do not know how many bottles of this wine/vintage I have opened, but it is significant. Since its inception, it has been one of my favorite rosés and that holds true: great red fruit (strawberry, cherry) along with stone fruit (peach, pear), minerality, and a touch of earth. On the palate this is tart, on the verge of luscious, and certainly fruity (in a reserved way). One of my favorites, for sure.
I don't think I have ever been disappointed by this rosé and the 2020 vintage is no exception. Attractively fresh with tangerines, peaches, and red berries, all imbued with a kiss of ripeness and ocean spray minerality. Clean, taut, lots of poise, with nectarine pit on the bright, seamless, and refreshing finish.

Pale salmon. Aromas of stone fruit and cherry, with savory salinity, ginger spices and fresh florals. Succulent and bright on the palate, plenty of fruit and a nice savory secondary density. Lean with nicely rounded edges and nice acidity. Very solid and very consistent with past vintages.

Retail $25. "Consisting primarily of Grenache, Cinsault and Rolle.” I was about to just insert the rote "Consistent Notes" and not give a numerical score for this wine since I have already rated this on a handful (or close) of occasions. Giving it another score would only skew the average and who wants that? Well, that was my plan until I saw that this wine received several "average" scores (86-87) and even an 82! Come on. Either drink more rosé in order to make an informed judgment or remove your pretentious (and clearly not rosé-colored) glasses. Sure, this is ubiquitous and distributed by one of the evil empires, but it is *really good* if not more. Fruity, but balanced by acidity, minerality, verve. I understand the sentiment that any wine that is sold to a Kroger, Safeway, Piggly Wiggly should be chastised by the snobby somm crowd, but this really is good folks. Consider it the Veuve Cliquot of Provençal rosé.

I picked up a few bottles of this summer stunner from Costco for $15 each. Served well chilled on a hot afternoon it was delicious, light and fruity. It is medium salmon colored and has a delightful nose of orange peel, nectarine, lemon and peach. On the palate I also sensed acacia. Medium acidity and a medium body lead to a refreshing mouthfeel. The finish of this dry blend of Grenache and Cinsault was relatively short and crisp. I really enjoyed it and for the price, this 89 point wine gets 4 stars. Drink this summer!
Nose: Pretty minerally aromas (almost a cornbread aroma I've gotten from other Provence Roses). Palate: While a tad more ripe than some of the Provence Roses I drink this is quite good (have had many D'Esclan offerings over the years). The soft strawberry is primary but there is some minerality there although not to the level of other more spendy Roses I typically drink (Tempier, Ott, Terrebrune). Quote solid for the excellent $16.99 price I paid. 89+ points.

Retail $25. "Consisting primarily of Grenache, Cinsault and Rolle.” I get that is “hip” or “cool” to dismiss large or popular (or both) producers since they lack uniqueness or the approval of the sommelier crowd or … fill in the blank. Listen, there are a sheet-ton of wines out there that are widely available but still full of character and, well, good. This is one of them. For $15 at my local grocery store (I love my H-E-B)? Back up the friggin Tesla….
Tasted this wine at the Online Wine Dinner with Burnt Ends organised by Wine Exchange Asia tonight.
Rosy pink in colour, with floral nose and fresh strawberries and unripe pomegranate. On the palate the wine presents bright pink fruits and berries.
Not really a lot of complexity or engagement, but this is a good wine to indulge in on a hot, sunny afternoon. Refreshing, enticing, and keeps conversations going.

Retail $25. "Consisting primarily of Grenache, Cinsault and Rolle." While some may disagree, this has become the standard bearer in Provençal rosé. Sure, some might cling to Domaines Ott or even the Bradgelina Miraval, but for my dollar, this is it. Classic Provençal color of faint salmon with a floral nose dominated by strawberry and rhubarb. The palate is classic Esclans: rich but reserved fruit (strawberry reigns supreme), laser-like acidity (tart from start to finish) and a minerality that connects the two. Whoa. While I have had a ton of Whispering Angel over the years, this might just be the best thus far.
Kleur: Bleek roanjerose. Aroma / bouquet: Fris, vooral fruitige aroma's. Aardbeien, frambozen. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 8 + Smaak / Afdronk: 12 + Algemeen / potentieel: 7 = 82/100
Colour: Pale pink rose. Aroma / bouquet: Fresh, mainly fruity aromas. Strawberries, raspberries. Pleasant but one-dimensional. Taste / Aftertaste: Fresh and sour start with a candy-like (Raspberry-Fruitella) accent. General / potential: I was very enthusiastic about the Château d'Esclans Garrus, made from 80 year old vines, aging in wooden barrels, a concentrated and complex rosé. However, the Whispering Angel is insufficiently distinctive and insufficiently interesting compared to the countless alternatives. 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / Bouquet: 8 + Taste / Aftertaste: 12 + General / Potential: 7 = 82/100

13% alcohol; imported by Moet Hennessy USA, Inc, New York, NY; medium to heavy weight foil, the extra-long 50 mm real cork has a maximum wine penetration of 47 mm, almost the full length of the cork, rarely seen in non-spoiled wines in my 7 years of tasting reported in CellarTracker; the cork has an aroma of stone fruit garnished with citrus peel; the wine exudes a penetrating steely nose of alcohol, tannins, and stone fruit, with an intriguing overlay of Cattleya orchid blossoms; the wine was opened and tasted about 20 minutes later at room temperature (26 degrees C); in its full body, tannins, fruitiness and sourness balance well, mixing with steel and forest floor; the medium finish continues this enticing combination, with the Cattleya orchids making a re-appearance in the background; the rose' cries out for pairing with an oily, cold-water fish like wild-caught Pacific Coho salmon or Chilean sea bass, preferably slow grilled on pecan-wood boards over a charcoal or gas grill

I very rarely write a tasting note before we have finished the bottle, but here goes. At £20 a bottle this is disappointing. I would not buy it again. As a Provençal Rose, it is comparatively smooth, without that acidic tang which, for me, can make the wine a touch bitter. Nevertheless there simply isn’t sufficient excitement here.

Nicely balanced acidity that supported layers of strawberries, stone fruit and lemon grass.

Pink, orange in color. Red fruit on the nose, strawberries and some minerality on the palate. Good acidity level, slightly sweet, nice finish. Pleasant-enough rose

Solid Rose with decent balance and strawberry and minerality. A nice pairing here is baked haddock with sautéed brussels sprouts. OK QPR at $21.
