  • 13,5% d'alcool, 100% Pinot Noir

  • Nice balanced fruty, rasbery tones. No decanting. Nice out of the bottle.

  • Nez : Terne à l'ouverture, il a pris environ 90 minutes à s'ouvrir un peu. Alors de projection 3/10, frais, fruits noirs acidulés, fort accent végétal, crayeux, presque anisé, pointe animale, pointe de fumée, cendres...
Bouche : sec, ample, tanins encore charnus mais en voie de s'assouplir, amertume moyenne, acidité rafraîchissante, persistance moyenne, rétro fruitée, végétale, minérale, amère, fumée
Conclusion : Fort bon.
Note : Bouchon en mauvais état à l'ouverture, fortement imbibé. (?)

  • Red berries. Cherries, strawberry. Probably at its peak now, but still lots of fruit. Lovely glass, but not spectacullar.

  • Good straight forward burgundy experience. Derivered without frills to the enjoyment of the full table. Suited turkey very well. Good job.

  • Not overly complex but enjoyable. Sweetly fruited with red cherry and strawberry, touch of blueberry, dusting of spice and smoke. Plenty of fruit on the palate, smooth tannins and mineral edge, finishing dry and savoury.

  • 13,5% d'alcool, 100% Pinot Noir

  • Pop and pour. Bright cherry fruit on the nose accompanied by a little oaky swirl and chocolate sprinkles. Broadens delightfully into real fresh strawberries and vanilla cream with just a fleeting hint of savoury meatiness lurking in the background. Medium-bodied and smooth on the palate. Nicely balanced with good earthy richness. Tight grippy finish just a little rustic, tannins still a touch surly. Excellent. You don't hear much about Monthelie - it's like the stuff they make "out the back" - but from a top name like Bouchard it can be delicious at an affordable price. Should improve but if you have a few no harm popping one now while it's still so vibrant. At about £15/$25 this is great value from Burgundy. 88+

EDIT : +24 hours recorked. Holding up well and stil flashing plenty of juicy red cherries. Little more of the savoury character coming through. Unfashionable region maybe but a lovely wine

  • Pale burgundy color with slight translucence The nose initially showed only red cherry aromas, but with an hour or so in the decanter it took on a more savory aspect, evoking bacon fat. On the palate one first notices the impressive weight, then detects some cherries before the acidity (just enough) and tannins (in check but slightly coarse) kick in. The finish is slightly dilute and mostly structure. This sounds less pleasant than it is, though... A very nice and balanced wine, if lacking a bit in elegance.

  • I really liked the first nosing on this wine but now it seems a bit casual and flat.

  • tasted at bouchard's cellars in beaune. lovely red fruits, predominately cherry. good palate weight and a soft finish. four square and simple but a step up from most bourgogne rouge's at not much more. bought for €15

  • Dense dark blueish red hue. Not the barnyard from the sample, but a lot of decaying, wet forest floor, with mushrooms and leaves.
Nose is already big and generous, the fruit rounded with dark berries. The palate is soft, rounded, mouthfilling, generous, bit rustic, with forest berries, briar, pinot spice and herbs. Acids are not marked. Very drinkable with brie right now. Not for long cellaring, will come around soon or with long airing. This one had been double decanted at lunchtime, then open until the evening. Domaine vineyards, and much more powerful than the 2005 Savigny.

  • Tasted at Erik Sorensen Vin in Copenhagen. Bottle opened three days ago. Big meaty nose with barnyardy, slightly rustic profile. Dense and rich pinot fruit from the fine vintage. Certainly very good.
