[Blind] Although blind a bit of profiling would suggest some commonality / lineage with the preceding Rouget. The initially dark and stormy nose of black cherry and sous bois immediately suggested Meo Camuzet stylistically. Wonderfully spicy with terrific earth influence. The Palate is pure, fresh, and clean with cool red and blue berry fruit. Growing and expanding in the glass with sweet black cherry and even a sappy core. My notes on paper included "Excellent example of whatever this is, fucking glorious" An awesome comparison to the '91 Rouget Cros P, this has it all with high florals, perfume, and spice.

During a Paulee dinner so only brief impressions. From Magnum. Deep, blue fruit, minty nose, lots of spices. Very precise and structured, underbrush on the finish. A very complex and reserved wine. Chateau Latour style. Masculine but really nice. 95+

A little blunt in this showing but great soil tones and dark fruit, with a good deal of evolution yet to come. Opened up considerably over the course of two hours. Would still give this another 5 years before touching. 92-93+

Deep ruby. Gorgeous nose shows mature Pinot fruit, loads of exotic spice, and just a hint of sous bois. Such finesse, plush, fully resolved tannins, classical in style. The 1993 Clos Vougeot significantly evolved over several hours with a decant, initially showing some plummy liquor notes, moving on to sappy berry, and finally settling into mature fruit and a Vosne-style spice. Excellent balance, this should drink well for another decade.

Very good. Started off a bit burly and solid, but with some air aromas of plums and cherries emerged. With time in glass it became a bit spicier and more soil inflected. Kept changing and developing over 1 hour plus. Excellent Clos Vougeot and in a good spot now, but give it some air.

From magnum, this was a stunner with ooh's and aah's all around the table. Cloudy medium garnet color, lots of exotic spice, soft tannins, and enough complexity to keep me interested in following it along over a couple of hours. My favorite red wine of this event.

Brick red with orange rim and amber reflexes. Nose is vigoreous and lively with red and black fruits, blood, flowers, minerals, bacon and spices. Light on its feet but intense and with concentrated aroma profile. The aftertaste lasts for minutes. Good acidity and oh so smooth. It presents itself best from bigger glasses, e.g. the "Goldfish bowle" from Riedel with more than 1000 ccm capacity, to get the nuances. This bottle was cellared at 12°C since release, so it should be on the young side for a normal bottle. In spite of the colour, I believe it is going to hold for at least three to five more years. I don't recommend decantation, because it took too much of the complexity.

Garnet red color, aromas took about 20-30 minutes to appear (at 55 deg) dark berry fruit with definite spice aromas increased over time. Dark cherry earthy fruit mostly, long finish. Overall similar to our last bottle in 2013 and don't think it has improved any since then.

A real star in a star studded lineup. Wonderfully mature nose of black and red fruit. Similar spice to the Richebourg. Ripe and sweet red fruit on the palate and this kept improving over 2 hours. Nice backdrop of earth and ferrous notes. Long finish. Meo does the best Vougeot.

As soon as the cork was pulled there was nothing but clean cherry and dark berry fruit aromas, nothing funky appeared. The bouquet intensified over a couple of hours. The color was a clear pale red with a colorless edge, light medium weight, actually very light on the palate with an amazing amount of clean fruit layers, tannins were undetectable, everything seemed in perfect balance and the finish lasted for at least two minutes. This was a memorable bottle of wine well worth sitting on all these years since release.

Second La Paulee Warmup Dinner (Corton - New York NY): Second year in a row I've had this at a pre-La Paulee dinner, and it was even a little better this year. Black cherry and blackberry aromas with Vosne-styled spice. Black fruit again on palate with some earth undertones. Very impressive power, density and length.

A Special Night at Taillevent (Taillevent Restaurant, Paris): Showed much more life than I would have expected. Very light in color. Still powerful and lush out of the bottle, with a rustic nose of mushrooms and leaves. Complex and beguiling on the palate, with a smoky earthiness yet never heavy or clumsy.

La Paulee "Warm-up" Dinner (Spruce and RN74 - San Francisco CA): Black and red fruit on nose with good background spice. Still very fresh and powerful, this is another excellent 1993 that will last for decades with the same powerful and precise black and red fruit going strong on the palate. Very silky, elegant, textured finish.

Shy nose to start, then smoky and stemmy. Blind I guessed a Dujac from the 1980's, didn't seem to have enough acid to be from 1993. With time in the glass, the acid emerged somewhat, but still balanced. I'm not a huge fan of 1993 red Burgs, but this was quite nice.

Rustic nose, lush and deep. Spice, mature fruit. Delicious on the palate, and similar to the nose. Juicy fruit, plummy, almost salty, tomatoes, blood, iron. Tasty. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 2/2 = 17.5/20.

Still young. Flavors just beginning to go secondary with acid and tannin still prevalent on the palate. Great fruit and just beginning to gain weight. This is a fabulous wine that still needs 3-5 years to reach its peak.

Medium ruby, showing a touch of garnet on the fairly broad rim. Full and spicy on the nose, but rather solid. This took a couple of hours to open up properly, when it showed lovely richness. Ripe and full-bodied, and well endowed with earthy, chocolatey notes. Bare ****

Quite full and aged looking blood red, but no browning to note really. Nose is an instant hit of pinosity - lovely violet notes, blood, a touch of VA and meatiness with great autumnal hedgerow scents underneath. Palate entry is really sweet and yet incisive - there's great acidity and rich red fruit underlaid by lots of spiciness and a touch of chocolate.
