Introduction

Some of the most impressive wines: 85 Ramonet, 90 Richebourg, 71 Richebourg, 85 Jayer and 05 Dujac.

Flight 1 - Whites (12 Notes)

85 Ramonet is the textbook perfect. Mostly Ramonet/Coche night, with some Montrachet mixed in. DRC Magnum was a close second!

Flight 2 - Engel Engel (6 Notes)

Flight 3 - Leroy (7 Notes)

No night is complete without Leroy. Richebourg winner for me. La Romanee showdown was interesting.

Flight 4 - Jayer (2 Notes)

No introduction needed. 85 is another textbook example. Literally.

  • 1990 George et Henri Jayer Echezeaux 95 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru

Did not have enough time open to appreciate its true beauty... still very classy for what is in the glass. 95+

  • 1985 Lucien Jayer Echezeaux 97 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru

We opened and tasted and wondered if Henri made this wine? I served to many Jayer enthusiasts and did not reach a conclusion. However, this is a TEXTBOOK example of terroir, everything expected is there, with the dried flowers, sweet spice, ethereally elapsing through every breath. Example to remind me why Burgundy. Strong contender for WOTN. 96-97

Flight 5 - Dujac (7 Notes)

Dujac is on fire! These punch so much about their usual weight. Stunning. 05 CSD another contender for WOTN.

Flight 6 - Rousseau (9 Notes)

There seemed to be a lot more Rousseau around. Good to revisit some of these wines and serve as context comparing them to memory. 1988 Ruchottes stood up against many Chambertin and Beze.

Flight 7 - DRC Extravaganza (22 Notes)

Of course, the most popular producer on the floor. 90 Richebourg absolutely on fire and strong contender for WOTN, followed by 71.There was also another bottle of old LT without vintage identification (~50s), and it was good of course. Montrachet to start the party!

Flight 8 - Assorted Burgundy (23 Notes)

There was also a fairly good Ponsot CDLR but cannot remember the vintage... maybe 2002/5. Producers also bottle 2018s Meursault into Magnums/Jeros/6L and those are nice ways to start.
