Such a dud compared to my last bottle of this from the same batch. This had nothing interesting at all about it. Hard to believe it fell off that much in year. The last one was a perfect luncheon claret.

The cork is in perfect condition. Perfumed on the nose, red rose ,ginseng, ginger spice, blackberry, inky/graphite, violet, medicinal, tobacco, red plum. Consistent note on the palate with some dark chocolate and lingering prosciutto characters. Tannins are well integrated, smooth and fine. Balanced and delicious! No pressure. Very good wine to enjoy now.

Palate: Dry, high acidity, med tannins (smooth), med alcohol, med body, med+ intensity, iron, coffee, wet forest, La chang, tobacco, smoky, red plum, dark chocolate, meaty, blood orange, black tea, woody, truffle, med+ finish. Tertiary notes like tobacco, truffle is lingering at finish. Overall, this is a very good wine. The wine aged perfectly with a lot of complex notes. The fruit notes come out beautifully on the palate showing great age ability.

Gloria at just the perfect age. So much structure at first but balanced quickly. Had everything I like in quality aged Bordeaux. Some fruit left, good acidity. Nice leather and tobacco. I'm a sucker for peak drinking windows though.

Gave the wine half an hour in the decanter. A good vintage for Gloria and whilst having a slightly funky nose and tobacco, the fruit came through with purple fruits on the palate, and a good finish. A very nice wine.

Deep ruby color with a musty, mixed dark red fruit nose. Decanted 45 minutes. Black cherries, currants, cola and earth showing with some cedar, leather and mushroom. Moderate and still noticeable tannins outweighed the remaining fruit by a small bit. Good QPR.

Brought to a BYO dinner, no formal notes. Strong leathery nose with cedar and tobacco. A bit of funky and lean on palate, with leather, black fruits and cedar. Good weight, long finish and rich velvety tannins.

A lovely, classic Bordeaux. Dark red color. Fragrant nose of tobacco, graphite, leather, and lovely dark fruit. In the mouth, pure and expressive, with well-concentrated black currant and dark plum fruit, with prominent graphite and earth notes that lead to bright acidity and a solid finish that still shows some tannic grip. Drinking very well, charming as Gloria can be, but no hurry to drink it as it's just beginning to develop secondary characteristics. A-

From 375. Been sitting on this a while, waiting for the right occasion. Well, with the wife and kids away, it seemed like the right time! Popped and poured, paired with a rib eye. Somewhat muted nose, which opened a tad to some darker red fruit, but nothing fantasmagorical. On the palate, a bit thin and lean. Nothing really remarkable in any way. Not bad, but just not great. OK finish. Look, I am trying to find something to say that would warrant a 'very good' but it is escaping me. That means I should drop the score down to at least a 84, but just can't do it. I mean, it was alright....

What a nice glass of wine. And in a wonderfull balance right now. Medium red color. Plums, black-current, leather, earth in a nice mixture. Good QPR. Got to find some more of these.

Last 375 ml. Drinking very well now but no risk of over the hill. Wonderful St. Julien nose. Taste of cherries and plums with some saddle leather, herbs and earth.

Still nice, but lacking the balance of a nice bordeaux. Leather, mushroom, sandlewood and light cherry dominate this wine. A little over the hill....even from magnum.

PTA Wine Tasting; 6/14/2008-6/15/2008 (Our House - Minnesota): Earthier and more rustic in character than the others opened, making it Chris's favorite. For my tastes, it drank a lot better the second day, where the earth and rusticity seemed to blend up and integrate in a way that yielded a nicely aged Bordeaux.

Moved to make room for some new purchases. Drinking quite well now. Bright red fruit and cassis on the nose along with just a hint of mustiness that gives character as opposed to being distracting. Much of the same on the palate, which is surprising depth and richness. Medium fine tannins on a 30+ finish. A good QPR at retail, a great QPR @ 50% off (could be the best $15 bottle I've ever had). One of the auction pickups that was an extremely pleasant surprise, and far exceeded my expectations. I'll have to find the other bottle of this, as I think it's right in its drinking window.

Cork in excellent condition. Decanted about 1/2 hour. Deep garnet color. Aroma musty at first, but then changed to cassis, gravel and faint plums. Light to medium bodied. Very nice taste, mellow tannins, cassis and blackberries or plums on the palate. Solid finish. This is a nice, reasonably priced St. Julien that is reaching a quite drinkable stage. I would consider drinking now or over the next three years or so.

Well, the Parker note is bad, but I thought this was great, and even performing above its level. Classic St. Julien, drinking great now (a little aeration helps, but didn't need decanting) and will last some.

rather fat and low-acid, I think this is pretty thin at first, and tannins stick out a little . But the fruit fills out and makes this into a nice medium-bodied Bdx as the tannins soften with the air. Nice cassis and dark berry fruit, plump with a smooth texture, light cedar and vanilla notes, decent finish

oddly enough this bottle seemed completely different from the one i drank six months ago. very tannic, thin and slightly acidic at first, then over time began to open up. far better on the second day

This is a St. Julien that tastes and smells like ... a St. Julien. Very representative, just not particularly remarkable or deficient in any way. Decanted about 90 minutes, although it was better at the two-hour mark. Still has some big tannin, but the still-present red and blue fruits do not seem likely to outlast it, so drink this soon. Fruit is most pronounced on the fairly long finish. Decent quality for the $25 price tag.

deep garnet purple hue. musk blew off after an hour or two, revealing a very strong floral, blackberry and spice bouquet. full-bodied, good structure, some complexity and a medium-long finish. dark fruits abound. somewhat tannic still. this is a big, opulent french cab. p.s. began to take on an unpleasant graphite/rubber aroma after several hours. drink now.

To start with, it has that good St. Julian aromatics of crushed berries, heavy cedar, and earth. However, The finish, with it’s one-dimensional, leathery, unripe bitter dark fruit, just does not live up to its nose.
