In 2016 I had written that this was the best young Pewsey Vale that I had tried. That quality is shining through here 7 years later. Excellent Riesling that outclassed several much more expensive wines last night.

Typical Eden Valley nose of apple, quince and a hint of petrol as the wine warmed in the glass. The palate is fulsome though not particularly complex with lemon and apple and a ginger note coming through. The acid is unlikely to support further development of the wine. Pleasant enough but not a hallmark Riesling from this maker and has fallen away somewhat since I last tasted it.

Unmistakably Riesling on the nose with lime, apricot, and a touch of petrol, dry with more weight than I expected but lacking the acidity it needs to fully come together, though it showed better with slightly spicy Sichuan fried fish and Zhong style dumplings than it did on its own.

A hint of petrol on the hose but tropical fruits are more evident. Lemon and orange rind are also in the background. The palate has good acidity to accompany the tropic fruit amalgam which is quite fulsome on the palate. With more time the palate may broaden further and the tropical fruit and orange rind notes will most likely be accentuated. Very good drinking now.

Still drinking well. Notes of citrus, lemon, apple and mineral. Paired well with our grilled scallops with smoked applewood bacon. Also good with the 5-cheese ravioli (XX, blue cheese, Grana Padano, mozzarella, sheep cheese) with hojiblanca olive oil and salt. Both brought out the Riesling flavors. (I have to remember Riesling with smoked meats).
I thought there were no bottles left but I dug and found this one.

Hard to think of Australia as having such a long wine past --the Pewsey Vale winery was founded in South Australia in 1847 by Joseph Gilbert [any relation?]; this wine was imported by Negociants USA, Napa; 12% alcohol, screw top, fast legs, transparent yellow; nose is fruit forward; tasted at about 16 degrees C; full bodied, notes of bread, citrus, starfruit, rhubarb, appeals to the center & back of the tongue, lasting finish; pair with cold water fish/seafood

Riesling, along with Chard, is supposed to be a white that ages well. This is my third bottle of the wine and it doesn't seem to be ageing well. My scores over the last year are 92, 90 and now 88. Still a decent wine but it has lost some of the spark. Am thinking that the Boundary Break dry from NY is a better bottle of new world Riesling.
Clear, very pale yellow, almost water-like. Nose is clean with lemon and lime juice, no petrol/gasoline, a bit of sea spray. Became gradually muted over a couple of hours. Light bodied, medium plus acid, more lemon, lime and citrus peel, salty rocks, slate and very mineral driven. Finish was medium plus. Still very fresh and young, the acidity hit felt dialled down one notch compared to when tasted before but not in a bad way. Very refreshing and will easily hold for 5-10 years.

WSET blinds; 5/15/2017-6/11/2017 (Chicago, IL): Screwcap. The nose shows quite a bit of tart citrus, as well as a nice touch of minerality. Definitely not Mosel, there's something quite unique about the nose here that I quite enjoyed. However, the palate was a lot thinner than I expected (for whatever reason, and likely wrongly, I somehow expected a bit of a riper wine). This is crisp and light, but lacks on the density, although there is definitely some good minerality here.

Perfect balance of elements at a super value price. Not a towering World Series grand slam into Waveland, but a definite weekday inside-the-park four-bagger. Finished six bottles quickly, ordered a case, and glad I did. (Historical note: far the best Aussie Riesling ever tasted came from Tasmania, brought to U.S. by Keith Brien, last vintage made from a vineyard soon after chopped down to make way for Chardonnay, the new fad. Travesty! That Tasmanian could have slugged it out with Egon Müller).

Straw-pale lemon, fast moving legs@12% abv. Medium(-) are of apple, pineapple, lemon, eucalyptus. Dry, medium-medium(+) acidity, medium(-)alcohol, medium (-) body. Lime, kiwi, pineapple. Balanced, good length with racy focused finish lined with delicate fruit sugars and flowery notes. Clean, well crafted; not terribly complex but immensely quaffable.

Pours a light>medium straw color, nice and bright. Enticing aromas of poached pear, green and red apples, and chalky stones at first. The palate is pitch perfect as it starts at 46F, it's well-layered, with everything in its place, i.e. no flab or jutting lines. As it warms, more minerals on the nose and palate, which adds a really nice contrast to the pear and apple aromas and flavors. Not terribly complex, but whatever it may lack there, it certainly makes up for it with its textural appeal, balance and purity. Another excellent effort. 12,0% abv., thru 2025. Will absolutely look to repurchase. recommended
Served non-blind. Enjoyed over a dinner of pulled pork and cheesy polenta. This was served s/b/s with the 2007 Pegau Reservèe. The PV was empty at the end of the night, the Pegau, at least half the bottle remained, as it was just not nearly as good of a food wine.

Dry, medium minus body, medium minus alcohol 12%, elevated acid (on the high end of medium plus), significant malic character - probably hasn't gone through malo, slight carbonation (young wine), medium phenolic bitterness.
Semi-terpenic white:
Albariño - not floral enough. Pinot grigio - a bit floral for this. gruner - no vegetal notes.
Final conclusion: pinot grigio, alto adige, 2015 (youthful hue, still has bubbles). actually pewsey vale 2015 eden valley dry riesling.

Used to be a fan of German riesling (Circa 1970-90) but somewhere along the way either the wines changed or my taste buds did. This, of course, is from Australia and I was impressed. None of that "petrol" taste that I find unappealing. And not too much citrus. Lots of dry fruit and mineral and a full mouth feel more typical of a chablis style chardonnay. After this bottle I might just return to Riesling. Great QPR.

Clear with very pale lemon. Crunchy sliced granny smith apples with some lime juice on the nose. Very sharp and acidic with more unripe green apples and lime on tasting, this tastes so young, not really ready to drink and will need more years before it becomes more enjoyable. It's not too bad if you want this style, should be more suited for a warmer day. I don't think i'll drink the next bottle for a couple of years. Finish is medium plus. Pretty good example of a young, ageable, riesling.

Light gold colour. Fresh but firm with a strong nose not of the crisp style but showing more body. Clean with a full round flavour of Riesling oil but this wine is still young and I suspect will age with a rich broad mouthfeel. Initially this wine showed a brashness but mellows with a bit of breathing.

Ding Ding Ding we have a winner! My official 2016 summer white will be the 15 Pewsey Vale Dry Riesling. For $14, one gets a wine of pleasure, refreshment, and even a little personality to boot. The palate shows a really nice interplay of traditional Riesling fruits such as green apple and peach spliced with thirst quenching fresh pressed lime juice. A few more sips in, one get a feel for just a touch of a rich back bone and acid structure, and plows ahead with little effort on a precise and clean finish. Off the charts QPR.

Just a hint of color. Unripe pineapple on the nose. Lime and quince on the palate with an undercurrent of chalky minerality. Great balance. On the lighter side of medium bodied. Long, mouthwatering finish. At $14 from Vin Chicago, a steal. Would be great as a summer sipper. Good with or without food. Screwcap. Should age beautifully, but hard to resist now. Back up the truck.

At around $16 this a step up both in price and performance from your typical entry level Riesling. They have a pretty long history of producing quality Riesling with it's own special flavor and aroma characteristics on this particular property. Totally bone dry, it is pleasure to drink now, but also has the acidity to hang around for quite some time. Although there is plenty of bright, expressive, lively upfront, lemon lime, citrus and orchard fruit, this one is by no means all about fruit. There are an equal amount of flavors like wet shale, talc, kitchen herbs and minerals. Deceptively rich mouth feel. Superb natural balance where no flavor component dominates, and i'll bet it can only get better. The kind of citrus peel, mineral and stone fruit taste on the finish that would last for close to an hour if you didn't eat or drink anything to interfere.

First 2015 wine we have had...this is a dry, crisp and I mean DRY Riesling. It could easily be mistaken for a Sauv Blanc or Pinot Gris on first taste. Good fruit, medium acidity so good with holiday fare or seafood. It probably is a little young, even something like this deserves a bit of time on the shelf.

Apperance is pale blonde slightly luminous Nose is quiet open and floral, being on the ripe side of citrus and some pear there is also an over tone herbs adding interest. Palate is bright and round with almost crunchy acidity flavours of lemon lime and pineapple meld to a lemon pith and mineral closing. Finish is medium Good. 90+ Drink now zippy and refreshing or hold as with all good riesling medium to long-term potential Match to any thing you would eat on a warm summer afternoon

Stupid hot so breaking this out. Aromas of lime, mineral, slate and wet stone. This is bone dry with flavors of lime, stone, mineral and petrol. Ends with a mineral driven finish. Nice wine for the moment net but no way 96 points Suckling.

Put in the freezer to chill and forgot about it. Pulled it out 90 minutes later but way to impatient to warm up properly. No score but I could taste that wonderful cooling lime character just waiting to burst out.

Crisp dry riesling with flavors of apple, pineapple and citrus.
Nice value for the money and nice warm weather wine.
Had with mustard and balsamic crusted salmon - worked well
Great QPR - worth stocking up a few extras of this one

The best young Pewsey Vale I've had so far as this wine has a weight to it that puts it ahead of the previous 4 vintages. Lemon sherbet with ginger - will be incredible in a few years.

Clear, pale lemon appearance. Nose is clean with medium+ intensity. Notes of citrus, melon, apricot and mineral. Palate is dry with high acidity, medium body and a short+ finish. Green apple, apricot, mineral and a slight hint of petrol.
Good wine, young and probably will evolve over the next couple of years.

Blind tasted. High acidity, bone dry, and lime notes eventually led me to Aussie Riesling, initially I also had Austrian Riesling or Gruner.

Apperance is pale blonde slightly luminous
Nose is quiet open and floral, being on the ripe side of citrus and some pear there is also an over tone herbs adding interest.
Palate is bright and round with almost crunchy acidity flavours of lemon lime and pineapple meld to a lemon pith and mineral closing. Finish is medium
Good.
90+
Drink now zippy and refreshing or hold as with all good riesling medium to long-term potential
Match to any thing you would eat on a warm summer afternoon
