  • Well, this was disappointing. Considering the producer and the pricetag. Glad I popped one before buying more. A correct wine but utterly boring and bland. 85 points is being generous.

  • Deep ruby color. On the nose, there are bright aromas of blackberry & black cherry...hints of dried herbs, leather and a slightly volatile, rubber-like note.

Medium to full-bodied, with juicy black fruit flavors framed by fairly rigid tannins that stick out a bit. There's a core of dark fruit trying to emerge, but it feels a touch constricted overall.
Notes of black olive, tobacco and an earthy character. A bit disjointed.

The palate has decent length, but the finish shows some warmth & slight bitterness that detracts from the experience. While not flawed, there's a lack of seamlessness & overall completeness.

Solid, decent, but not firing on all cylinders. The quality of fruit is there, but the components seem a bit muddled and the structure sticks out in an uncomplimentary way right now.

Perhaps more cellar time will allow better integration, but at the moment it lacks the pedigree of Gaja's top bottlings and doesn't quite measure up to the 2019 vintage in Langhe. Decent, but unspectacular for the price point.

  • It’s gorgeous wine. Correct, balanced. Glad to see the 13.5% — hard to find these days for Nebbiolo in the Piemonte. The price is the only downside here.

  • From the wine list at Ninety Acres. Decanted at the table. Red fruit, roses, and herbs. Savory palate. Softened by the Barbera blended with the Nebbiolo, says sommelier Alexandra, allowing us to drink so young. Excellent pairing with the mushroom and black truffle Taglione, and not at all bad with the lamb white bolognese or the charcuterie starter.

  • 35% Nebbiolo 25% Barbera 25% Merlot 15% Cab Sauv. Decanted for 30-40min and followed in the glass.

Transparent ruby color. Red florals with more textured darker red fruits underneath. Little bit of stemmy herbs as well. Palate is medium body and has some roundness to it. Rose petal, gentle raspberry, shrubs. Gentle acidity and refined tannins that show just a hair of textural grit. Finish shows tart raspberry and structure with stony character.

Intriguing wine with plenty of finesse but a bit underpowered. Didn't gain the weight or muscle to really show its fruit and structure. Might just be coiled up and will unfurl in the coming 3-5 years.

Drink now with a 1h decant or hold for 3-5 years. 90ish with a point or two of upside.

  • A good but far from great example from a reputable producer. It delivers core Nebbiolo flavors of red fruit with a subdued nose. Good drinking but for 50 plus dollars a bottle not a good QPR. Needs an hour of air. Maybe will be less austere with bottle age but I am not optimistic.

  • Picked up for a good price on Wine Spies, but overall was not my cup of tea. Or wine. A bit austere, although it did have a nice bouquet of red fruits and floral qualities, just wasn't quite put together.

  • Opens with a bouquet of flavors, raising expectations but fails to deliver with an unimpressive mid palate . Finish shoes a lot of acid, which is expected for a young wine made with nebbiolo grapes.
Better the second night with the acids seeming somewhat tamer. Was going to give a slightly higher rating but then drank it without food. Not a good idea, this wine needs food. It might develop in the bottle with cellaring, but at this price, it needs to show more now to justify its price.

  • Good but on the simple side. Not a good value at $40. Good mouthfeel but never really developed in the glass.

  • this is probably a little early in its life and could use more time on its side yet. absolutely delicious though. a very interesting blend and my first time trying this. definitely has a cooler climate feel and profile (to its bordeaux varietals). sprightly acidic, bright red fruit, some very nice florals. classy entry level gaja.
