2-3 hour decant. Totally consistent with notes from 2018. Lots of cassis/blackberry on the nose with some tobacco and woodsy forest notes in the background. Medium body. Smooth and fruity palate, very pleasant, not a fruit bomb. Solid core of cassis with fine tannins. Medium long finish with a bit of spice. A delicious wine.

I bought this directly from the winery, so I know it has been stored properly. Still plenty of life left...I’d say it still has 3-5 years for sure. We opened the bottle at a restaurant and immediately put in a decanter. Drank it over a 2-hour period and it did improve with some air and was starting to drink fairly well by the end. I wasn’t impressed with this wine straight out of the bottle. Fairly one dimensional in flavor profile with tannins that didn’t add the backbone that you’d expect at this price point. Left with a dry finish that wasn’t pleasant. I would be interested to try this wine again with a 3-4 hour decent to see if that helps. Drink now.

Pretty wine, holding up well for an 11 year old wine. Cork was on the brittle side so we ended up destroying it trying to get it out. Nonetheless. Great wine that improved over 2 - 3 hrs. Did not decant, although had to strain cork bits out. WE love Viader wines....

I shared this bottle during a tasting of very expensive California cabs. Harlan, Bryant and Maya among them. It was a blind tasting and the Viader took 2nd place out of six different producers. Harlan won 1st place and deservedly so.
I wish I could say I was surprised but I was not because Viader makes very good wine year after year. It holds its own against the best and for less than half the price. Recommended. It should still age well for another 3 to 5 years.

Lush and silky. With age the fruit notes have mellowed and evolved into a juicy and creamy mouthfeel with currant, spice, and slight oak. Moderate tannins with balanced acidity. Wine can be aged for at least 5 more years.

This is a perfectly aged wine at this point. Unlike many Napa wines, this is meant to be more Bordeaux in style and it is. Still with slightly fading but still vibrant red in color. Nose of pencil lead, dried herbs, cherry, and just a bit of funk. Palate medium and layered with smooth tannins. Drink now.

Private Dinner at Craft Butchery (Craft Butchery in Westport, CT): Another wine with a high quantity of Cab Franc in it. Nice nose of pepper, cherry, herb and a touch of funk. Little bit of old world aromas mixed in there. This really delivered on the palate though with flavors of blackberry, cherry, mocha, currant and spice. Nice complexity there. For someone not looking for an over the top Napa Valley red this would fit the bill nicely.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. It smells like forest floor, and mineral. It tastes like ethanol, and dust. The body is medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes short. Its has a high alcohol content at 14.8% so thats the reason is still hot to the palate. I should wait a few years and retaste.

Friggin' huge. I wish I had decanted this, as it clearly didn't have enough time to aerate. Upon opening, it was a little closed. Muted nose, but the palate suggested a whole lot. As it took more air, it opened up - Nose of blackberries and black cherries. Intense, huge palate with lots of oak (not over-oaked, in my opinion), fruit and lots of acid. This is really young and has the potential to last 15-20 years. Did I say huge? Please, please decant this.

A very nice blend, well balanced, great body, solid finish but a bit tight, could use a few years and will undoubtedly become a great wine. My sense on the flavors were black fruit on the front, a heavy dark chocolate and vanilla midpalate, and nice legs on the palate. Mid 90s with good potential to go higher with time Give it time but enjoyable now. -S
