Meine Flasche war noch sehr verschlossen, öffnete sich ein wenig nach längerer Belüftung. Immer noch warten….ungewöhnlich für einen Soave. Ich bin gespannt

Quite a deep gold/ yellow colour Rich nose, bruised apple and satsuma, leesy, some spice and vanilla, Full body, gets fuller with more time open, orange and lemon, almonds, creamy texture. Long finish. This is wonderful. I can't really fault it for £15.50 a bottle.

Light yellow colour. Nose is shy and mainly consists of tropical fruits and candy in a restrained and attractive way. In the mouth: woah! Had to check out the pricetag again… This is a serious bargain! Intense, muscular with pineapple and peach juice, beautiful minerality and good acididy, medium for the type. Agree on the notes that speak of lack of complexity. Big and good is what it is. Feels like a dry botrytis wine.
My life's first huge Soave and I will not mind more!

Still clean, bright yet a bit of lemony richness in the middle. Tons of minerality and clean acidity on the finish. I know they can age a bit, but what I like on northern Italian whites is lip-smacking ability to pair with light food and that diminishes after 3-4 years.

Tropical fruit, almond, sweet grain with minerality. Nose is not intense but stays strong quite a long time. Mid+ acidity makes this nicely matched with fried chicken.

Always a delight. Robust, tingling texture across the tongue. Cherry blossoms, almonds, subtle stone fruit, carried with a substantial weight but always refreshing rather than palate-fatiguing.

From 75cl, good cork, P+P. Well made medium-dry wine, low acidity and a soapy texture. Reminiscent of a low-minerality, slightly portly Albarino? Best with salty, sharpish food. Don't understand why this is praised as the standout wine of a 4**** producer in Hugh Johnson's pocket guide, and this vintage gets 93-94 points from the usual US critics. Maybe all it needs is another year or two in the cellar? Not convinced, but ready to wait and find out. 88-89P for now.

Ordered off the list at San Morello in Detroit. A bit softer and richer than other vintages of Calvarino, but still crisp with lovely minerality and impeccable balance. This shined with my asparagus risotto and partner's scallops.

I purchased this wine after reading a Karen McNeil posting in which she claims this is one of the 3 best Soave Classico bottlings. I don’t have the experience she does but I can comfirm this is a lovely wine that is just right in terms of intensity and balance for an afternoon tipple.
Pale gold in glass. Med+ intensity nose of pear, lemon, honey and mineral. Palate was dry, med acidity, med alc, med body. Well balanced, medium length with nice complexity. Good to very good Soave Classico.

Straw yellow. Nose: Green apple, some minerality and I think a slight wiff of petroleum. Palate: follows the nose, with green apple and apple pealings dominating. Very smooth and pleasant, loving the acidity. It almost has a fizzy mouthfeel.
Maybe not the most exciting or nuanced of wines. Had it without food, delicious likeable sofa wine, . Will buy again!

I am not sure I understand the scores of some users below. The tasting notes appear to be quite positive but 88 seems punitive. This is an extremely mineral soave. I was impressed by the minerality. It feels almost sparkling in the mouth. I think that this is a tremendous effort for a soave. In fact, I have never been impressed by the basic soave from Pieropan and also the reserve La rocca, grown on a very different soil has not impressed me in the past. In addition to the minerality the wine is very balanced with the right amount of acidity (although I would have liked to have a bit more as a personal preference). The wine is very slightly unctuous, concentrated. There is some tangerine and tropical but the apple dominates as it opens up with some flowers in the background. The structure reminds me of a top notch Austrian wine.

Finale lungo e persistente.

My Fair Verona (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Savoury, slightly meaty, a little gamey note here as well, lemon, creamy underpin (lees?), a tiny sulphur prickle. Juicy, mouth watering acidity, textured burr is drying but muted fruit persists long. Balanced, rather nice.

Ripe and plush, lacking cut and precision both in flavour profile (all apricot, white peach, sweet peppery spice) and structure (missing acidity). Acceptable as an aperitif maybe but it’s not satisfying or refreshing, nor opulent enough to make an impression

Pale golden color. Ripe citrus and maybe even a little stone fruit on the nose along with some honeysuckle and crushed powdery rock. Similar flavors on the palate with medium+ acidity and a textured mouthfeel. Has a bit of dried almond or walnut skin on the finish as well. A bit riper than expected but still balanced. Nice wine but missing a little something for me.

From 75cl, good cork, P+P. Gentle honey and lemon rind scent; medium-bodied, emollient texture on the entry lifted by good acid balance; initially attractive mid-palate, with herbal action and plenty of guts (a good accompaniment for pasta with fresh sage). Unfortunately there is a soapy element in the finish which became stronger as the wine warmed up from ice-bucket temperature. Like that cheap pink liquid hand soap beloved of German public institutions. Hope this is a passing phase, and indeed I have seen a recommended drinking window for this starting 2024. 88P(?)

Pale straw.
Light bouquet, stone, citrus peel, tropical fruit.
Syrupy mouthfeel but lively and fresh. Citrus and citrus peel in the mouth, waxy. Bitter citrus peel finish.
Really like this wine and prefer it to the more expensive and oaky La Rocca.
