This is a light/medium bodied wine made with 100% Syrah, with a fine nose of black cherry, blackberry and spices. The fruit develops slowly on the palate and the flavors increase the longer it sits in the glass. A pinch of pepper and some oaky notes add complexity. The tannins are soft, but it posses a good kick of acidity that makes it very food friendly (retail $14.99)

Popped and poured. Nose of black fruit, moderate intensity. Medium bodied. Quite good without food, had steak with it and felt it was overpowered by the steak. Good for about one hourthen started to fade.

Initially simple aroma/flavor but high acid, thin palate and short finish prompted me to recork and store it in the fridge for another day. Day three rounded, filled in, still high acid but balanced with generic Rhone fruit. Overall, average to below average.

Wines of France Tasting (Binny's, St. Charles): Notes of plum, pepper and spice. Medium- to full-bodied, with flavors of white pepper, violets and dark fruit. This would be a good burger wine.

looks like a pinot. I would have never guess syrah. there's spice on the nose and pepper on the palate without much fruit and flat. finish is medium/short. I completely lost interest after 10 minutes of hunting around for the treasure.

Ripe, lush cherry on the forepalate, some mineral tannins on the finish. Shows fruit all the way through. Well-balanced, medium-bodied wine. Tasty and enjoyable. Drink through 2013.
Probably the lightest Syrah I have tasted, with a garnet color, medium body, Pinot-like mouthfeel, but the dark berry and iron of a Northern Rhone; I can see why this isn't for everyone, but it is worth a try to see one end of the Syrah spectrum.

A bit tart and astringent to start, but that softened into some nice ripe, round red and blue fruit flavors. This is simple and somewhat one dimensional, but it is exactly what I would expect in a Crozes-Hermitage in terms of flavor profile and texture, especially at this price point. I debated whether to put this into the "Very Good to Excellent" range with an 85 score, but decided that this is a good wine, but wouldn't consider it very good. Nice everyday drinker, but don't think this is going to blow you away. Don't let the 83 average CT score fool you, this is totally worth checking out.

Pretty nose of dark fruit and a little vanilla. Getting that earthy/olivy taste on the palate with less fruit. But the acidity is gone leaving a flabby sensation in the mouth.

Dark purple in the glass. Pretty nose of dark tree fruit, brambles, spice, and a hint of vanilla. Palate did not live up to the nose. Fruity but no complexity and a bit lacking in acidity.

Did not decant. Very dark purple in the glass. Fruity nose that seemed to alternate between dark fruit and a kind of raspberry with a lot of spice and earthy notes. On the palate, quite a different expression of dark fruit and spice. Rough but not terribly pronounced tannins. A little bit of vanilla. Quite good and fairly interesting. Finish is not very long.

A very disappointing wine. No discernable nose; dilute, insipid flavors; and a limp texture. The wine was not flawed, just almost flavorless. Purchased from a reputable merchant with good storage conditions. Had purchased to feature as a French Syrah alongside New World Syrahs/Shirazes, but decided against it given the poor quality.

Lightweight, light fruit. Tart. Not much of a nose, not a lot of Syrah character. Nice dryness, but you keep expecting more. It's OK, but that's about it.

Peppery on the tongue. Disappears immediately after swallowing. Leaves slight tarry/oily sensation.

Okay but not real interesting on the no or the palette. Flavors were tame and a little bland in many respects with a definite tar component.

Nose shows primarily mineral notes. Abundant, tasty flavors of raspberry, vanilla and spice, with earthy/mineral tannins. Decent balance, long finish.
Not as bad as other tasting notes indicate... at least this bottle. Perhaps there's a QC issue?
