Initial notes of struck match on the nose, giving way to straw, beeswax, honey, lemon, and white flowers. Golden apples, ginger, and a hint of honey on wet stones on the palate. It’s always a special occasion when I open a Huet wine, and this one delivered.

Slight golden color. Caramel, beeswax, bark, pear fruit, stony. Oxidized notes. Toffee pronounced on the round palate. Good length with some RS balanced against acid, noticeable phenolics. I have enjoyed in past but not today. Lacks freshness, clarity. Maybe a slightly off bottle (though cork looked good)?

Can’t add anything beyond Cutlass’s note below. This is lovely, both great now and likely to evolve nicely in the years to come. Will probably hold the other bottle I have a few years to find out.

Unripe citrus aromas with lemon zest. Oily entry and then tart citrus. So much fresher compared to recent hot vintages and great acidity reminiscent of those taut Mosel Rieslings or of how Chenin Blanc used to be in the Loire… drink now or hold - this vintage will go the distance!

2nd of 4. This is so good - tart, rich, citrusy, acidic, penetrating and concentrated. See my April 2023 review for more details. Tons of life left on these, but they are so amazing to drink now.

Pnp with the fealing that's gonna be to early. Indeed: not much colors yet, mostly structure and balance between bakked lemon, peal, sorrel and mineraliy. By experience this needs two more years of evolution to show light honey, baked apples and of course souvereign acidity.

Klare helle Farbe.

This was really good, green apple crispness with a long finish of concentrated sweet apple. Just enough sweetness to keep you interested without too much blowsiness :-). 92+/100 score may be conservative.

Blind Tasting at the Wine Exchange. Light color. Winery Sauvignon Blanc? I'd bet on it. French, South Africa or North American in that order. Flavor much heavier, though. Sauvignon Blanc or something similar.

Pale golden color. Scents of flint lime zest, almond, honey comb, lanolin. Fruit of green apple/pear, melon, and white peach. Strong salinity. Quite racy acidity. Slight bitterness of lemon pith. Umami sensation in midpalate. Finishes long with floral, citrus, and mineral note. Medium body. High acidity.
The acidity is slightly higher, the body is slightly leaner in this vintage. But, it is still in balance. At this stage, it feels more minerally-driven. A wonderful food wine. Incredible QPR.

A survey of Domaine Huet (Chicago, IL): Like the 2019 -- why don't I buy more of this more often? It's such a value and the quality you get is so high. Yes, it's not Berthomé anymore (whose last vintage was indeed the 2019) but this feels like it's cut from the same cloth. Intense pear notes, but razor-sharp acidity and almost a saline tinge as well. A very complex and complete wine, especially for the price. Will these age into the same wines as the 1938 and 1969 we had tonight though? I'm not sure. The style is very different; this is leaner and more taut, the older editions almost showing some botrytis and stone fruit and much more broadness on the palate.

Yellow. Floral/honeysuckle aromas. Medium weight, relatively light for a Huet. Dry, good acidity, average concentration. This did not leave much of an impression.

Yellow apple and lanolin on the nose. On the palate, yellow apple, lemon citrus, lychee, and notes of ginger and something green on the medium finish, with a hint of sweetness and moderate acidity. This was an average to good value at a little over $30.

PnP. Pale yellow. Discrete aroma of ripe sweet fruits, apples behind, very primary. Harmonious palate, pronounced and high acidity, m-B, discrete fruity finish leaving the mouth rinsed in a good way. Drink now - 2035

Didn't make a note for this, but it was lovely, classic and clean expression of Loire Chenin Blanc. Has a bit of upside.

Trumpet nailed it—delicious dry Vouvray. Apples, lemon, crisp acidity but balanced. Bottle empty fast. My go-to Vouvray from here on.

Reveals a beautifully balanced Vouvray. Lemon, bees wax, savoury minerality. I like it
