This is very appealing with lovely rich fruit flavours trading the stage with tartness, a moderately tannic backbone, wood spice and perhaps even light herb notes and impressions of sweetness at times. This is not overly complex (yet?) but certainly delicious and with a sense of quality. 91+

Nice overall balance. Better on 2nd day ... taste filled in and less shrill on the acidity. Good fruit flavours of red berries and dark cherries. Spices, and some herbal component on the finish. Tannins still present ... slightly chewy/grainy. Medium length to finish.

Super-Tuscans, once among the world’s most sought-after wines, have fallen out of fashion recently. I’d pretty much stopped drinking ST some years ago, probably for the same reasons as everyone else – they were $$ & confusing, generic if you will.
Now, if you have not enjoyed an ‘-aia’ wine, this one would be a good introduction to these bad boys of Tuscany.
With big brother Oreno in the background, I really like the alluring flavors of fleshy plums, tender berries, dark cherries, delicate spice, & licorice.
The palate is full-bodied, with intense tannins, balanced acids, & a long, engaging finish. This wine will only get better as these vines age…Sucking, you were right!

Restaurant service. Cherry, plum, camphor, sage, allspice and lavender aromas and flavors. Richly layered with succulent fruit and plenty of savory depth, pleasantly nervy, closing with ripe round tannins.

Incredible value from the second wine of Tenuta Sette Ponti. Pure black fruit, menthol, tobacco and leather. Deep and complex. Medium bodied, well integrated, piercing acidity. Flavours of bay leaf, tobacco and rich black fruit. Concentrated wine. Better in time but lovely right now. Drink through 2030.

This was medium bodied with medium tannins. The fruit was balanced with cherries, wild berries and a hint of smoke. There are better options at this price point. Will try again.

Under synthetic cork. Pnp. Maroon with a bit of earthy red at the rim. Lovely modern Italian nose of black cherries and plums, stone dust, ink, charcoal and dried herbs. Full bodied, sweet round fruit extract, good acidity, sandy tannins, slightly elevated alcohol and a long, very dry finish. Sweet tart black and red fruits, more cherry and plum, well integrated charred oak, some blackberry as well and dark minerality. Finishes with sweet fruit and sandy tannins. I have to agree with the Suckling on this one and go with a 93 points.

Concentrated currant/cherry fruit nose with an earthy, pastoral note. Full, rich palate with good flavours and grip; long and solid, youthful, but accessible finish.

Gambero Rosso Tasting (Doltone House, Sydney): Cherries and sweet spice, cream on the nose. Medium plus intensity acidity, cherry, cream, a little fresh tobacco leaf, grainy tight tannins, all persists long. Simple but not unpleasant. Balanced. Okay

Ordered a bottle at Bruna’s restaurant. I previously had the 1999 and 2006. 95% Sangiovese and 5% Merlot. Young and tight with firm tannins. Full bodied with black fruit notes and tar. This needs a good 3-5 years to show better. A bit of a bruiser at present. 88+ points.

A powerful beam of cassis and blackberry fruit, but the herbal aromas of dried herbs, incense, and barrel spice make this particularly appealing.

Pretty fruit on the nose. Soft, easy does it. With some grip on the back. So a little bit more than just soft.
