Poured a transparent, raspberry red colour. Palate was light on the tongue, lightly sweet with the familiar cola and red cherry flavours. A little touch of bitterness that other reviewers, I think, attributed to age.
Overall a nice little Williams. It’s no Hirsch or Allen but enjoyable nonetheless.

With a beautiful burgundy brown color that effervesces a smooth earthiness, this wine only gets better after opened and left to breath for an hour. On the palate you get a more visceral hit of that smooth earthiness along with a punch of tangy rasberry. A very enjoyable Pinot that is still great to drink regardless of what everyone else says.

Black cherry. Nicely balanced but still a bit ponderous at 14.2%. Tasted against a much younger Littorai that danced circles around it with fresher aromatics and a more youthful demeanor. I get that it wasn't "fair" to pair these up but sometimes the old dogs surprise you - just this time they didn't. Still, an enjoyable wine well worth the bottle (and the bottle didn't last long.....)

Seemed surprisingly youthful to me. At first a bit out of balance with a bug punch of acidity but settled down. Having it with food later helped as well. Overall interesting - sort of big cali pinot although fruit has faded somewhat but has a lot of acidity more like a burgundy. Still as far as enjoyability goes call it a 89 - just comes up a bit lacking.

This walks the tightrope. The alcohol is a bit high. It has an extracted tending towards sweet flavor profile. But it does not veer into confection. Good acidity and a spicy earthiness pull it in bounds. Food will make a difference here. We used a WS recipe for pork scallopini with arugula. The winery recommended the Sonoma Coast bottling and it works together with the food extremely well. Much better with the food than on its own. I can't imagine that anything would work as a better pairing.

Bright. That's the word that describes this. It's tart red cherry fruit, a touch of cedar to go with the oak, and plenty of acidity. As the previous reviewer wrote, it's a summer Pinot. I actually like this better than my number rating indicates, but that's more to do with it not having the complexity and subtlety I normally associate with Pinot. Good accompaniment for fish or chicken on the grill, though.
11/25/12 Pretty much same impression as last time. Very light and fruity.

Strawberry and cherry on the nose, these and red fruits on the palate. Light in color and in flavor, flavors are pleasant and seemed better with food. This seems like a summer Pinot, not big and chewy but with light though pleasantly layered flavors and a medium finish.

Alicia's surprise birthday party (Denver, CO): Open 6 hours before serving, cork like new. Light toward medium garnet, slight bricking. Opens with signature W-S nose of toasted bread, red berry, spice, caramel, herbs. Medium+ body, bold red fruit, grippy tannins and very lively acids. Long, layered, spicy finish. This will be fantastic tonight. Drink thru 2018, 14,2% abv, score: A-

I was getting worried I may have waited too long on this being one of the entry level appellation wines but really enjoyed it. There was a lot of particulates floating around in it so I stood it up for a day. Very clear light ruby color. Nice nose of strawberry, cherry and rhubarb, approaching a candied aroma, but just shy of that. Nice red fruit flavors on the palate, similar to the nose, hint of spices, little earthy. Finish was short initially, but as it opened up became quite a bit longer with some noticeable tannins still, and all balanced with some nice acidity, so it was food friendly.

Opened, not decanted. Cloudy light crimson in the glass. Perfumed aromas of ripe cherries, blood oranges, spice, and black tea lift from the glass, and are joined by strawberries and earth notes on the palate. Feminine in style; this wine has refreshing acidity with soft tannins and rich flavors.

Really not fair to have this wine tossed into such a powerhouse lineup. It shows that it's more simple, but the purity and class are there. Black cherry, oak, and earth on the nose. All those flavors are delivered on the palate nicely, with great mouth feel and bright acidity. Solid finish. B+

Light to medium in color. Wonderful cherry, berry nose. Classic Williams Selyem Pinot - not a typical big California Pinot - with great fruit/acidity balance. 88 pts initially, 91 pts Day 2. Great nose, but initially a bit too tart and somewhat unfocused on the palate. With 40 minutes in the glass, the acid is diminished, and the palate is generally more balanced and consistent with the promise of the nose. Consistent performance to the 2000 Central Coast I had a year ago, though I was kinder to that one re: score. Update: Much, much better the second day. Fuller, less acidic, more in line with what I expected.

Decanted 75 minutes. The wine presents a hazy purple-crimson hue, with delicate but distinct aromas of ripe raspberry with some sandalwood. The palate has high toned, tart fruit flavors of ripe cranberry, with strawberry and orange peel. Traces of smoke and earth show through the crisp, medium finish.

Very delicate nose, best enjoyed in warmer weather. On the palate I get rose petals, cardamon, and sour cherries. On the finish there's a chocolate flavor that stays with you for a long time. Wine gained more weight and the tannins became more pronounced after a one hour decant. Overall a very pleasant--perhaps even elegant-- Pinot Noir, with low acidity. Drinks great now, might improve with 6-12 more months of cellaring. 90-91 points.

Decanted. Typical 06 CA Pinot elegance here. I enjoyed the pine forest floor the Sonoma Coast bottling exudes in the nose and on the palate. Nose was effusive throughout the night with moments of candied red fruit, milk chocolate and orange zest. Will purchase the 07 of this appelation series upon release.

Another CT tasting note nearly matches my impressions of this wine in that it is very easy to drink and enjoy but it is just lacking a bit of earthiness that would go well with this lighter, Burgundy styled wine. I don't see the rather low acidity of this wine as a flaw, although it not be able to stand up to as wide of a range of foods as some other similar wines. Professional reviews on this wine are all over the place with 91 points from IWC and 82 from WS. I personally think that James Laube (WS) must have had the flu when he rated this wine (and just about everything else he rates lately) as this is nowhere near as bad as what his score implies.

Very easy drinking medium bodied wine with true Burgundian color and palate. Missing much of the earthy components of a true 1er Burgundy, this one is about as close as you're going to get. Medium persistence and low acidity are the only real flaws here. Delicious and very satisfying. Drink thru 2011. 14.2% abv, approx $48.

A summer Dinner (Chez JJclips): My 1st W&S. Hopefully I'll try one from the good 'ole days. This was a solid showing, but I think they're getting away with the name a little on this bottling. It was nothing memorable. However, it did pair extremely well with some Grilled Salmon.

Weekend Dinner (JJCLIPS2): Simple and straightforward PN. Well made with forward red cherry and berry fruits, touch of spice, and pretty good acidity. A touch alcoholic towards the finish. Was better with the cedar planked salmon than it was on its own. After realizing the price tag on this one, there are better options out there.

This is an example where an '06 is developing into something really delicious. Great balance and fruit. Maybe a tad light, but less so than many '07 pinots from the region.

Not bad but not my favorite WS. A little light and simple.

Loving the 06s, in particular the balanced elegant examples from the SC appellation. Wish I had bought more of this.

This has improved with time; light, even delicate body with a bright garnet color; cherry and spice on the nose, very refined and elegant fruit-forward PN with a hint of spice in the background that grew more pronounced and complex with air. This is much better than WS stated.

The nose had raspberry and cherry, with just a touch of earth and oak. The palate was smooth and a little sweet, with cherry, raspberry, spice, earth, and a slight vanilla finish.

Light red in color, cork is barely pink, slightly cloudy. Nose of cherries and a bit of spice. Crisp decent complexity but not too deep, ok finish.

Extremely light in color...almost looks like a rose. Nicely perfumed and showing light cherry and spice, but falls short a little on complexity.
