Ullage high. Cork intact, but soft and soaked almost to the top. Aged nose: cherry jam a hint of soy sauce, with a dusty library background. Concentrated flavour of cherry jam, with a hint of liquorice. Tight, neat palate, with silky tannin and juicy acidity.

Opened my last two bottles tonight. Great drinking Syrah which proves the value of long term cellaring. Even after 16 years this is a lovey complex wine with the last remnants of fruit, lovely soft tannin and balance

Initially opened, smell of old leather Oak. Needed to be aired several hours. Cork is still pretty good for age, no seeping into the cork. Not as rich and intense as Liandra. Smooth tannin obviously Not as sweet dark fruit as well, medium I would say. Some tannin present with bitterness or dark chocolate rather. Sediment is minimal which is nice. Still pretty good.

Dark violet with mild/moderate bricking. Medium(+) aromas of blue/black fruit and black olives/anise component. Meat/smoky background - really nice and complex nose. Medium(+) palate of black fruit/olives/ meat and bacon fat. Medium(+) tannins but well integrated at this point. Medium acidity and high ETOh as others have mentioned. This is drinking nicely now - nice classic example of warmer weather/ New World Syrah.

Still travelling well, with a depth of blueberry, blackberry and soft plum on the nose. Palate has fine tannins, coupled with a oak notes, and some savoury spice and tar. Decent length finish. In a good spot now.

Thick and chewy concentrated fruit. Very expressive nose, with smoked meat/bacon. OK structure. Noticeable bricking. Tends towards hotness; Rocknroller makes a good observation that the alcohol is fine if you let the wine glide over your tongue, but turns obnoxious if you swish it around. Not bad, but overpriced at $35.

After last bottle, was afraid this wine would not pull itself together. This one a excellent balance of meaty fruit and good balance of tannins with a medium to long finish. Two left, think this will have a very short prime drinking window.

Brought this to a family dinner at Dragon Phoenix Restaurant to celebrate the 1st birthday of my niece.
Rich and balanced with lush notes of plums and a touch of spice. This is a wine in harmony with the elements though it was relatively closed and short at first. The extraction of fruits and flavours were relatively muted.
When the wine opened up the meat juices were evident in the body with chewy tannins and medium finish.
Had higher expectations of this wine but it didn't really paired well with the Cantonese food we've had.

There's blueberries, blackberries, plums and lashings of vanillin oak. Silly smooth tannins. Not much spice though. It's a light, elegant cool climate Syrah, however was going downhill by day 2. A drink soonish proposition.

Ripe, raisins, prunes, a touch of olive, great concentration, silky and smooth slightly viscous mouthfeel, enough acid to balance, paired extremely well w Asian grilled tuna, ponzu, fried rice.

P/w 2 hrs decant, fairly heavy sediments. Dark purple/red. Big nose, classic Syrah notes. Bold, not over extracted, intense flavor with long finish. Excellent window, great with bacon wrapped scallops and prime grade rib eye. Nothing off. I like this label in general so another fine showing. Gift

Damn, It's Cold Out (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Very dark purple color. Decanted for about 30 minutes plus. Drank 2 glasses over 90 minutes. VEry meaty and savory nose, blackberry pie, plum, dried herbs. The palate is dense and inky, blackberry cobbler, roasted meat, gravel, dried herbs, tangy, medium plus finish. The alcohol monster plays here, it comes and goes. If you moves this too vigorously about the mouth it volatizes dramatically and overpowers the wine. If you just let it glide across the palate the alcohol remains fairly contained.

Very good bottle with solid fruits and mid level tannins so it could last a few more years if I had more. Contrasted it against their Hickenbotham which was much more earthy and leatherish in the overall profile.

Lots of blueberry pie, but unfortunately marred by the rest of this hot, harsh, somewhat bitter, disjointed mess. The second night this was much better. I'm putting off the rest of my bottles for several more years. I bought a bunch of Clarendon when they were selling off large quantities of back stock, and so far, I'm not all that impressed. I think these wines might need 15+ years on them.

This wine needs several hours of air to really show. On the nose, bacon, blackberry, and a bit of heat. On the edge of full bodied. Blackberry, plum, smoky vanilla and a hint vegetal. Integrated but present tannins, medium acidity, medium+ spicy finish. Still a lot of years left to enjoy.

Spice, licorice and blackberries on the nose. Deep fruit and spice again at the finish. Great balance and power, but not overwhelming. Had for Easter lunch with grilled lamb and was the clear favorite among the guests when compared with some great Cabernets. Better compliment with a little more "jamminess" but with enough structure to balance.

Powerful, dark, and complex Syrah with a long finish; my earlier indecision on this has changed after another 7 or 8 months in the cellar. Very nice and I'm looking forward to the remaining bottles to taste them as they evolve.

As with many Australian Shiraz of a certain quality this has a lovely nose with a mix of blueberries and blackcurrants. However while it is densely extracted and full of ripe fruit I find it a little dull and flat. A bit hot, tannins aren't pronounced but what is there is a little rough. For the price, disappointing. Perhaps 10 more years would see it shine but it does nothing to re-kindle my interest in this type of wine.

Second bottle opened from the shipment. Much like last time, required some time to open up. Started out with heavy smoked meat bouquet and flavors. Over a few hours, evolved substantially. Heavy cocoa and graham cracker - like a s'more in a glass. Some licorice notes on the finish.
Still a little bit of heat. Will probably benefit from a few more years. Great wine at this price point.

Nice black/blue fruit, but in a leaner, more elegant style than may Aussie Syrahs/Shirazes. Not a fruit bomb and not overdone with oak or alcohol. I'm a big fan of Clarendon Hills' style and I don't think they've let me down yet, this one being no exception.

Needs some time - still a little hot. Been decanting for four hours and its still needs time to open up. Luscious mouthfeel. Cured meat, leather and graphite - lots of mocha on the finish as it opens up. One to revisit again in a few years. Not as complex and round IMHO as the Brookman or Hickenbotham.

Powerful, dark, and complex with a long finish, but I'm a bit undecided on this one. Blackberry, dark plum, eucalyptus, licorice, leather & machine oil, and some pepper on the finish. Certainly not your typical fruit forward Aussie Shiraz, and a little "hot" and lacking balance. Better after some additional time to open up, and I'll see what more time in the cellar does for my remaining bottles.

A bold nose of dark fruits and spice, dark black purple in color. A full bodied single vineyard Syrah, with blackberry, blueberry, bacon fat and smoke, with a very smooth and long spiced finish. A delicious wine, what I still enjoy about a good Ausi wine that has the alcohol under control. Still many years of life left but why wait. www.winelx.com

PnV, then slow ox'd for 7+ hrs. Rich & dense w/complexity as it revealed many nuances over the course of 7 hours. Fragrant aromas of plum, crushed blackberry, leather, spice & vanilla. Meaty & concentrated w/savory flavors of plum, blackberry, black cherry liqueur, black licorice, black pepper, herbs, toast & w/some more air time emerging chocolate & iron notes. Sweet integrated tannins, moderately low acidity, full-bodied & lush moderate finish w/bit of heat that dissipated after some breathing time. Exquisite & well made.

I can almost image the hot day(s) that these two bottles were in some warehouse before being sent to my tender, loving cellar. For those of you asking, I got this bottle from wine.com in December 2012.
Nice, moderate aroma and taste of dark fruit and vanilla spice. Initially there was slight burning aftertaste, but next day that subsided. A good quality wine. Enjoyed it better on day 2. Would like to try their Liandra at same price point to compare.
