Not profound, but still surprised to the upside. Very Margaux-ish, with good fruit and lots of florals around a well-balanced frame. A couple of more years in the cellar wouldn’t hurt.

Consistent notes, but I am bumping it up a point--the second day this was certainly better with more fruit and depth. Three bottles left, and I have to remember to decant the next one. thedrunkencyclist.com

As one might expect, this is rather austere on the nose, particularly when compared to more recent New World wines: dark color, almost inky, with tar and dried black raspberries and plums (I guess that would be prune?). The palate, although far from austere, is certainly reserved, with subtle dark fruit, black pepper, anise, and that tar (which, although it seems rather off-putting, certainly fits). Look, most people used to Napa or Sonoma Bordeaux blends might find this a bit lacking, but this is a legit Bordeaux, folks. From a killer appellation, and a mind-blowing vintage. Yeah, it’s baller. thedrunkencyclist.com

I purchased this almost a decade ago and was not really sure what to expect, but it is a solid producer from an outstanding vintage, so I was confident. Good reason: subtle fruit and some green notes (which I like), paired with fine acidity and a hint of tannin on the lengthy finish. I have another five bottles and while I don't plan on waiting too long. thedrunkencyclist.com

12-year old Médoc nearing its peak. I went for a ride on the Left Bank (naturally) looking for some good dark juice filled with those tantalizing aromas of a barn floor couple with some after effects of a plug of chaw spit carelessly about and looking like the fresh blood of a stuck farm critter. I got a bit of that but I do believe the thin soil that these grapes were grown was a mite too thick, which made the Margaux less than desired.

Drinking quite well with a feminine nose and excellent mouthfeel. Quite popular among the winos we had over for dinner and held up well with some other more expensive wines.

Last time I drank this was over 3 years ago. Brought this to a dinner with non-Geeks at a trade show. Dark color. It was acceptable, but my friends went crazy for it. Like I said, non-Geeks. I paid $15 for this, so not complaining.

This wine is almost at its peak.I love the truffle on the nose and red fruits that this wine has.45 minutes in a decanter and this wine was good to go.It had a touch of acidity on the finish which makes it a great food wine.

Bright purple to the rim, lovely nose of black cherries and a floral component. Decanted for two hours, not terribly complex but very enjoyable and for the price it offers more complexity than I expected. Medium bodied, very little tannin left, black cherries and flowers on the palette with some oak and a hint of Bordeaux funk, silky smooth finish. Great QPR.

Wow - super bargain! Margaux typicity, so that despite the ripeness of the vintage, it has focus, with dark red fruit, a nice stony backbone, great balance, and silky tannins.

Drank over 2 nights. On pop and pour, this was tannic. The color had some rust tint to it, that eventually faded away. There was no taste to this wine, other than it had a herbal feel to it. Same at the 2 hour mark. A mid-weight wine. Some heat going down on day 1 and day 2. If I would have paid full retail for this ($30), I would have been upset, but at $15, I can't complain. I'll save my other bottle for a couple of years. I know for a fact that my non-wine friends would have enjoyed this.

Delightful wine with very approachable fruit and a mellow backbone. Not overly complex but went well with home-made pizza cooked in the Green Egg! A great everyday drinking Margaux.

Had it over two nights. This bottle split the difference between my last two - a bit of leathery funk, but it leaned more towards the dark red fruit and earth tones of the first. Still supple and solid.

Good Manison Friday Night Tasting - Tour of France: Delicious nose of red and black fruit - predominately red cherries and sour black cherries. More earthy in the mouth with chocolate notes scattered with mint and dust. Long finish - should age well. Favorite of the night.

This bottle seemed to have more funk on the nose than previous bottles, and perhaps even some VA as well. But as in the past, this was still enjoyable for it's litheness and structure. I don't think this is a "big" wine or that it will last forever, but it is a pretty decent value.

Plum and subtle raspberry fruit with notes of cassis and vanilla and a hint of toasty oak. Classic Margaux soft and feminine yet nice moderate structure and balanced tannins.

I'm not sure if this was flawed or if it is supposed to taste this way, but the nose was old wood, stinky peat moss and the taste was dirt, stale cabbage and sticks. I've not had many Margaux and no first growths, but I have 6 more bottles so sure hope this stuff gets better, or my palate somehow engages.

LIke the other poster mentioned, this is a big wine. It's very acidic and tannic, but the fruit underneath is wonderful. Drink now with a minimum of 3 hours decanting, or store for a few more years. Excellent QPR.

Old world, some roughness, and green notes at times, subtle dirt, dark. Good stuff but not worth the 29 i paid for it 13 years ago.
