Siggy Turns "Fitty": The Big 5-0 Blowout! (Spoon & Stable, Mpls, MN): Translucent light medium ruby red color. Small glass over 30 minutes. Wow, this is lovely, pristine and pure, red flowers, tart cherry, cherry skin, dried spice, graphite, sous bois and such pretty red berries, beautiful wine filled with a silky texture and fine tannins. What a treat, thanks Craig!! Geez these are good.

Took to wine buddy Siggy's fabulous 50th B-Day party at Spoon & Stable in Minneapolis. Opened one hr prior to leaving home. Finding it open & resolved decided not to decant. Upon arrival, removed the cork again & further slow-oxed till poured 2hrs+ later following champagne & still whites. Perfuse aromas of roses, berries & underbrush. The palate is as elegant & tastefully luxuriant as the interior of a brand new Jaguar F-Type. Perhaps better than any other producer in Burgundy, Rousseau captures the essence of Pinot Noir as it thrives in Gevrey Chambertin's marvelous terroir. This is a wine of weightless high toned red fruit, site geology, fleeting spices & game bird notes. Most of all, that stunning purity & finesse evident in every Rousseau btl. 13% alc. A great btl to mark the occasion! 2 left to further explore in 3-5.

94-95 pts our moi aisément

A 59th birthday wine that did not let us down. I think TZ scored this 86-89pts??? Fine by me as it helped depress the market price a decent amount. Most people are all hung up on the "big 3" / now the "big 4" from Rousseau but I find this wine a very very close 2nd cousin to the Ruchottes and drinking better than the CSJ would at this young age. The CSJ would still be showing a lot of oak right now. This wine delivers all of the marvelous purity of fruit and ethereal structure that is signature for Rousseau. This not a huge wine but rather very intellectual and intriguing. I quickly bought the last btls today. This is only a minor step down from the Rousseau Grands. Someday the critics will be bold enough to give this wine the scores it deserves. Paid $112 and drinks like $200 plus. Unfortunately this store no longer gets any Rousseau and this was the last they had. PnP

Better than expected. Sweet, floral aromatics with candied tinge.

I find this one notch better than the 07. This is a very good Gevrey but somehow I always expect more from Rousseau.
