A more predictable tasting of this wine vs when I had it last in May 2023. It still has some meaty, savory notes and is still dominated by red plummy fruit. That said, it has a wonderful nose and long finish. Early maturity but it will age for many more years.

I’m perplexed. The nose on this wine is amazing. On nose alone, I give it 94 pts and love that it could be a great ringer in a blind tasting as it would confuse everyone as Sangiovese. Only Bordeaux purists would call it Right Bank if blinded. On the finish, it is semi-sweet but also savory and almost to the point that it turned my stomach. Why is it so meaty on the finish? Other reviewers say blue fruit, but to me this is red fruit all the way. Having recently had the ‘07 Pichon Baron, I much prefer it to the ‘07 Trotanoy. Maybe time in the cellar will benefit. That said… I’m still perplexed. Is it mature or is it disjointed and needs time? The nose and finish don’t agree with each other.

Wow, what a wine. Trotanoy is my favorite right Bank Bordeaux, ahead of Petrus. This 2007 is wonderful. Jumps from the glass with blue fruit and also some pin elements giving it freshness. Complex and aristocratic. They managed the 2007 vintage well, not diluted at all but of course lighter than the big years, which are still sleeping in my cellar.
PnP. This is lovely and mature now. A nose to die for, even with no time in the glass. Gorgeous fruit on the attack, sweetness and wonderful balance on the mid-palate, and a long beautiful finish. Tannins mainly resolved. Hard to believe this is a 2007. Will still last a few years I imagine but there is no reason to wait, it can't get better than this.

Tasting: A second time with the 2007 and this time a notch better than last time (93). One of the best 2007 I have had. Needed 2-3 hours in the glass. I have had multiple vintages of Trotanoy and I have almost always been very content.

Real good for the vintage. Blackish crimson color, hardly evolved from 2015 when I last tasted this wine. Decanted and aerated for an hour then drank over 90 minutes. Nose of blackberries, mushrooms, truffles, spice and mocha fully reflected theough an opulent and full body mid palate, and a long bitter chocolate finish with tannins starting to resolve. Not the best Trot out there but clearly hedonistic and quite an achievement for the vintage.

A youthful purple colour. Quite leafy nose with some briary red and black fruits. A creamy mid-palate with enough herbal edge to add interest and freshness. Nice balance and proportion and a clean, minty fresh finish.

Right in the middle of its drinking window and will last another 3-5 years. Smooth yet fairly powerful, especially for the vintage, and with a long finish. Tannins are fine but still present. Given the price (about 100GBP) it's hard to say that it is a great QPR, but probably one of the best for Trotanoy. I am happy I have a few more.

Medium-bodied, plummy, round and floral with intriguing notes of mint, herbs, thyme, truffle and wild cherries. The nose is more complex than the palate, which offers earthy plums and herbs with a breath of cocoa in the short finish. This is quite good for the vintage, but it is only a moderately good vintage for Trotanoy.

Starting with dark fruits supported by some coffee, toffee, cocoa, tonka beans. Over the next few hours, the fruit gave way to more and more of the secondary and tertiary aromas. Amazing how this wine developped over the evening.

My first Trotanoy - Black fruits, creme, menthol, plums bouquet. Tasted black fruits, liquorice, espresso toffee, with slight truffle tertiaries. Nice menthol finish. This is alluring and moving into its prime. Enjoyed this thoroughly tonight.

Really liked this. Expected less given the vintage. Can only imagine what this would be like in a better year. Although mostly merlot, didn't have the plummy softness you often see with high end CA merlots. This was more complex, certain more wild notes. Long finish. Could drink now or wait a number of years. Would recommend. And certainly cheaper than Petrus.

Alas my last two bottles. Trotanoy at its best where the terroir and wine making prowess clearly outshine the poor vintage. Excellent pomerol, complex, rich albeit less opulent than Trots in top vintages. See previous notes.

Outstanding given the vintage. Blackish crimson, opulent nose of blackberries, truffles, toffees and spice cake. Hedonistic palate enters fat, coats the mid palate with black fruits, and a decent mocha tinged finish, full bodied with excellent acidity. Reconfirms why I love Trots.

Decanted and drank over two hours. Blackish crimson, excellent nose of mushrooms, earth, blackberries, cherries, and stones. Velvety and opulent entry on the palate, black fruits and spice mid palate, full bodied and masculine, this wine needs another few years to mature fully but is a joy to drink. Great structure, very fine granular tannins and a decent finish.

Excellent wine ready to drink after a two hour decant. What a wine given the vintage. Blackish crimson, no signs of aging. On the nose, blackberries, truffles, spices and mocha fully reflected on the palate. Great structure, very velvety on the palate, not a hint of any hard edges, not overly complex but very hedonistic whilst retaining that Trotanoy class and elegance. Finishes round in the mouth on a touch of old leather and silky tannins almost fully integrated.

I am partial to Trotanoy having had 8 vintages of this lovely wine. Same as previous bottles, surprisingly good given the vintage, still a few years from maturity but very enjoyable after two hours in the decanter. Excellent nose of blackberries, truffles, earth, full bodied palate, masculine and very well structured, solid but integrated tannins and a decent finish.

Second bottle confirms my previous tasting note. Very well structured wine, hedonistic, ready to drink after a one to two hour decent. Black fruits, asphalt, unsmoked cigar tobacco, full bodied and savory, only missing a long finish and complexity towards the end. Nice indeed.

Lovely Trot nose of blackberries, truffles, wet earth and a hint of graphite and roasted green peppers on this masculine wine, with surprising weight given the vintage. Blackish crimson, great acidity and structure to this wine, fat entry on the palate which made it a nice pairing with pan fried foie Gras, coats the mid palate with ripe black fruits, no greenness, again graphite but the finish was slightly short. Tannins well integrated. Will benefit from another five years of cellaring.

Really nice plumby, earthy Pomerol aroma that shows no greenness. Flavor between red and black fruits with complex truffle and soft, supples tannins. Very delicious right now. Touch low acid and not rich, but wholly true to Trotanoy. A real pleasant surprise and would recommend for current drinking.

Pomerol Tasting (Wine Route Tel Aviv): This wine made a lot of expectation among the panel. I have to admit that I didn’t understand what it was all about. The nose was too close although elegant. Light bodied with soft tannins, predominant acidity and long finish (160$)

The 2007 Trotanoy is a balanced, harmoneus and one of the better 2007:s I have had.
