In great shape. Not even a hint of oxidation at this stage. Still quite mineral. Fruit was there but tart. Some florality. A linear, acid-driven wine to be sure. Did take a little time to fully open up but definitely singing. Excited to try these in a couple more years.

Pale colour. Fullbodied, structured, elegant and Long. Perfect - almost great - Riesling after more than eight years of aging.
Very versatile in food pairing: Mussels as well as modern oder traditional and rather rustic food from Pork or Calf (like Baeckeofa (Backeskrumbeere), Choucroute Garni (Sauerkraut mit Schlachtplatte), Pfälzer Läberworschd (Pate de campagne a la palatinat), Saumagen (stuffed pork stomach a la palatinat), Tafelspitz, Wiener Schnitzel, Züricher Kalbsgeschnetzeltes, gebratene Maultaschen (fried "big Tortellini" with a very savoury meat, sausage, leak and spinach filling) etc.

Wow this is in great shape. Incredibly direct, laser-like acidity and a great balance between complex mature notes and youthful energy. Initially seems extremely concentrated but the finish falls off a bit, I guess this is a factor of young vines. Makes me very very optimistic for the ageing of the GG wines.

Is this a bit tired? Or just needed some more time to open up? I will never know it because we drank the wine in less than 45 minutes with a good plate of charcuterie. Last glass was the best one so I think that maybe it just needs air. There is some reduction on the nose, which then opens to yellow fruit and some minty notes. On the mouth the balance is great, with sweetness, acidity, good width and length. Maybe it lacks a bit of complexity, but it is only Von der Fels after all.

Needs a short turn in the carafe to open up. Then we get some absolutely fabulous pineapple aromas and nicely developed mineral notes. Palatewise this is super-harmonious, with a fresh yet smooth acidity, perky little love-bites in the finish and a long, refreshing, salty mineral aftertaste. So drinkable, pure lip-smacking pleasure - but maybe more fantastic than great, if you see what we mean ;-) "À point" at the moment, no need to wait any longer. Go get your remaining bottles!

Ohh, this has entered a really good phase right now. I like Loirefan's reviews, and I'm not sure whether bottle variation might be at play, but whatever disjointedness he/she detected is absolutely not evident here. I will say that this is easily the best (and unfortunately the last) of four bottles I've drunk over the past year and a half, showing both an almost Trimbachian richness and gravitas as well as classic Germanic precision and transparency. What's remarkable here right now is the combination of both fruit and spice elements, served up on a bed of bristling minerality. I don't wish to say this encapsulates the wine, but it's as though someone threw pineapple, lime, and gray slate into the mother of all Cuisinarts, hit 'Puree,' and then liberally dusted the resulting fruit-rock shake with cinnamon. The longer the bottle's open the more that cinnamon and nutmeg note comes to the fore, and the minerality becomes more rather than less palpable as the intensity of the yellow fruit flavors morphs into a savory lemon icing component. Drank with a moderately spiced green shrimp curry, which has to be one of the best food/wine combinations I've had in a while. A lovely wine to spend time with as we watched Chicago grind to a halt under twenty inches of snow. Wish I had six more of these.

Just outright good now. Sexy fruit wich gains a little fatnes and sweetnes in the glas. But still a cool refreshing drink wich leaves you thirsting for more. Best on day one. Lost a little fruit after two days in the fridge. Got a little more steely and mineral, but I preferede the fruit.

I think I like the 2008 better. This may have more weight, but the RS sticks out a bit and hides the cut of the acid. I'll try and let the other two bottles age some of that sugar away.

A limpid gold in color, with brooding aromas of wet slate and bitter citrus suggesting rainy, autumnal landscapes touched by more distant floral notes wafting in from sunnier climes. On entry this really covers the palate horizontally, with the slate and bitter citrus aromas becoming more visceral as they are released inside the mouth. The building acidity here energizes the mid-palate as faint tropical fruit notes are brought into focus on the finish. Holy Moly, better back the truck up for this one. A beauty…

Drank this bottle over several days. Opened it saturday and finished it wednesday and it showed no signs of loosing pace - in fact it becamed slightly more complex as the days went. It started of with notes citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit and ended op with more minerality. Great bottle of Riesling with some - if not several - good years in front of it. Good QPR. about 23$.

Assertive, intense, needs a little time. Great acidity, a little CO2 spritz still. Rather green/herby palate, but not in a negative way. Excellent and will mature very well.

Decanted for 2 hours. Very nice and focused nose with ripe peaches, some pear and a fine mineral dust. Medium body, but almost a creamy texture with flavors of peaches, citrus and slate/rocks. With some air the acidity integrates very nice and the whole wine is building up a great balance between fruits, minerals and acidity. The finish is long, persistent and fruit driven. All in all a pleasure drinking this right now with some air, but has a big potential for the next 3-7 years! Thanks to Martin aka "BerlinKitchen" for bringing this up!

Light yellow. Very delicious nose of yellow fruit and chalky minerals, good nerve and depth. In mouth it is in good balance with enough fruit and acid to promise for good development, yet already very accessible. Just how I like a dry Riesling - good fruit, delicious minerals and balanced.

If you like mineral driven, dry Riesling you needn't go further. Excellent QPR and probably the best version of this wine ever. Not as bonedry and almost hurtful as usual.

Weingut Keller Tasting (MAGMA German Restaurant): Popped & Poured
Colour: Light straw yellow with an ever so slight greenish tinge
Nose: Lime & sweaty sock but tight nose, will probably be better if allowed the breathe; but so far it was a little 'meh' for me
Taste: Decent acid, great heat control, mineral driven with some grapefruit. Could have used slighly more acid as the fruit felt a little 'soft' to me
