Wondurful deep purple in color, jammy and rich in the mouth. Went well with chicken cordon bleu but I saved 1/2 of bottle in a .375 ml. Bottle and better 4 days later when finished

Great Syrah. Upon opening, I thought this was maybe past its prime, but after about 30 minutes it opened up and gave a great structure of white pepper, juicy purple fruits, and a long finish. Ready to drink with some air!

Wonderful nose of dark fruit and vanilla/toasted oak. Medium to long finish with some spice but very well balanced and went great with a chicken cordon blue with a Parmesan cheese sauce. Got even better 2 hours after dinner with out the food.

Medium bodied with big oaky black fruit nose. Palate of black pepper, vanilla, and blackberries. Not the most full bodied wine but does have a nice long finish. Excellent quality for the price.

So glad that we cellared this wine, based on some off the earlier reviews. This Syrah displayed wonderful dark fruit with that earthy quality and black pepper that displays the great depth of this Novy wine. We enjoyed it with a braised lamb and olive entree. Great pairing!

Decanted 2hr, pepper still dominates the nose, blackberries and hints of vanilla. Very dry finish that still has some tannins to shed. Been 2 years since i last tasted and improvment is obvious.

Very good wine that went well with sauteed chicken and multi colored bell peppers, portabella msuhrooms and onions. Very good flavor, not necessarily Syrah like to me, but flavorful and enjoyable.

One of the few Novy 06s I have left, this for sure my last of these. Open for about 90 mins, I think this wine is showing fine with this amount of air. Like with many of Adam's SLH syrah, shows the signature of the AVA with pepper, smoke, meat and potpourri. Fuller-ish palate, with what would seem to be a nice mix of Rosella's grapefruit and peppered jerky alongside the bbq sauce, blackberry and soy of Garys'. Finishes with a good whip of citrus, cooked meat and dark fruit. I like this bottle because it conveys the opulence of CA fruit with the terroir of what SLH shiould show. The acid says to me the wine will last but I think it's in a great melded stage all things mentioned above so drink now for a nice pleasure.

A very nice syrah displaying smoked meat, dark fruit, and pepper; medium acidity; the tannins are mostly intergrated. I don't see much improvement so drink up and enjoy.

Lots and lots of pepper. Really gave way to a nicely integrated wine. Drank after a Syrah Blend so the full Syrah effect was lost. Polished off way too easily. It was clearly a good bottle.

Unmistakably syrah with some funk and lots of pepper on the nose. LOTS of white/black pepper, but not in a bad way. We picked this up at the winery a couple of years ago and it was just as good as we remembered it. Adam makes nice syrahs and we are going to start buying more of 'em.

Lots of pepper in the nose, with blackberry and blueberry. Rich, concentrated and jammy on the palate with loads of blackberry, and pepper. Seems a little disjointed at present with harsh tannins. May improve over the short term. 88+

Poured this one and waited for about a hour. This is a wine where I clearly differ from everyone who has reviewed in the past. On the nose, its blackberry and blueberry cobbler and some spice I can't really pin down - very nice. The palate is strange. The black fruit hits you on the attack for a second and then dies. Harsh pepper from the mid-palate all the way to the finish. It's like the fruit is sucked out of your mouth. Mouthfeel is nice, but the wine is out of balance for me. Maybe it needs more time?

Have not opened one of these since the 2008 XMAS season so been a while. Starts off slow, as it needed to air to unwrap. Soil, mint and sage on the nose. Nice juicy and medium + palate, with blackberry, black cherry, cooked meat, pepper, citrus and soy. Pretty classic SLH flavors. Finishes with the citrus notes and bittersweet chocolate, a bit tight too. Here's the thing--with Adam's SLH syrahs, I know what I am going to get: the flavors, profile and weight. Paid $27 for this wine--well worth it and it's why I buy a mixed case of the Novy SLH syrahs year after year.

Drank with leg of lamb and provided a very good compliment. Hints of pepper after decanting the first bottle for an hour. Decanted second bottle more briefly and picked up much more pepper, but a good enough balance of fruit to make the wine very enjoyable.

Great Syrah nose of spice, dark fruits and that little bit of funk. Well balanced and structured although the tannins did poke out a little with the first glass.

These wines are big and powerful, but very easy to describe. A ripe, deep, dark, earthy, extracted wine. Somehow combines the California fruit forward style with some of that old world earthiness. Very bold in every respect, color, aroma. flavor profile, and finish. Very strong, but balanced acid character on the nose, and the palate. The fruit is still hiding behind all this structure. They have tamed the tannins. This should last a while, wish I owned a case or two.

intense with lots of dark fruit and pepper on the palate. Definately agree with prior reviewers that should decant at least an hour prior to drinkng--it opened/evolved tremendously over time. A powerful syrah--i look forward to its further evolution over the next few years.

Big blueberry, dark berries, bacon, and citrus on the nose. Beautiful wine that opens up trememdously with air. Needs a good decant or more time to really strut its stuff. Love the peppery finish. Great QPR!

Decanted for 1 hour, needed another hour to really open up; nice dark garnet, medium bodied wine; nose showed blueberries, a little smoke; some citrus, blue fruits, spice and peppercorn on the palate - on the second night it was less peppery and some tar notes were starting to show; fine tannins, lingering finish. This was a very nice bottle - I'm going to try and let my last bottle rest awhile - I expect it to be even better.
