We opened a bottle and paired it with some mild cheese. Still has light complexity. Very smooth with notes of leather. It aged very well, yes probably to long but that's the fun of it.

Pretty good with some complexity. Certainly not profound, but a good wine for weeknights. On occasion I thought I detected a hint of oxidation. We have ten more bottles so we'll see if that occurs in others.

Good wine. Experimented to see how this wine would age. Tasted fresh. Balanced with good fruit. Surprised as to how good it tasted. Enjoyed with a steak. Guess I can't find any more although the stats show a good amount of this wine is still in cellars.

A bit disappointing at first open. Next day, very full bodied, long finish, somehow lacking balance, perhaps too acidic and tanic at the same time. Wouldn't hurt to mellow in the bottle for a while longer.

- Garnet color with slow forming legs and aromas of artichoke and fig. It's unbalanced and has flavours of black currant and acetic acid with a medium/full body. Leathery texture with a long finish - Wondering if this is over the hill. Let me decant and comment vs time. Initially tight and pungent, sour even. Fruit is lacking.
20 mins: aerate in your mouth intensely and it begins to wake up.
60 minutes: better, but have had it better.

After a few mediocre bottles, this one was firing! Figures it was my last one. Typical Souverain nose of cinnamon, cedar & spicy cherry fruit. Medium body, there's the cinnamon & cherry fruit again on the palate, maybe some licorice and walnut too. Nice complexity for a "common" wine. No great length but a pretty & spicy finish. Superb QPR!

A nice showing, good varietal expression, though I agree with comments below that the cedar element is most dominant. Tannins present and guide the midsection/mouthfeel. Nothing unique, but a fine QPR for a wine I think was $15ish.

Definitely past its prime, but still drinkable. The cedar is taking over the fruit, and the palate has become monolithic. Still very smooth, but drink up!

Very good. Decanted 20-30 minutes. Smooth tannins, dark fruit on the nose. Classic CA cab characteristics. I've always liked the AV cabs. Hints of chocolate through the mid-palate with black cherry and currant. There was a little oak, but nothing overpowering. On the down side, it has probably past its prime and is in decline, so best to drink up what's left. Body and finish were well defined and quite full.

Soft as silk, and similar profile as last tasting note. A very nice inexpensive CA cab. Nothing intellectual about it, just a great everyday drinking wine that wont break the bank. Probably starting it's decline, so drink over next 3-4 years.

Solid, every day Napa cab that has reached its mature zone. Classic on both the nose and palate. Dark fruits (black cherry and blackberry), vanilla and oak, and some more mature notes of cedar and cigar box. Medium to full bodied on the palate with a touch of heat. Not overly complex, but a solid, well made wine.

Modifying this note upwards as the last glass or so on the 2nd night was actually better, which is very hard to believe... notes from 1st night follow: Disappointing... clearly past peak... somewhat flabby, jammy and hot. Some black fruits and leather, but not enough to carry the day. Drink up if you have 'em.

Boy some time really seemed to change this for the better. Last bottle I had. Decanted in the glass for 1hr. Showing a very nice nose of dark fruit and light oak leading to a fully bodied palate of raspberry, currant and a little lead pencil. Very well integrated tannins and just the right amount of oak leading to a long finish. A bit lite on the mid or else I would of given it a score of 90. This surprised me by how well it has integrated over time.

I really like this wine. It has a wonderful black cherry, chocolate taste with a hint of vanilla. It is not over oaked as so many CA cabs tend to be. There are still some tannins left, but overall this wine is drinking very well right now and probably has at least 3-5 years left. There is not a very long finish and the nose is fairly muted but the taste is most enjoyable and it is a very food friendly wine as well. Great QPR. Note: One of the 5 bottles we've had over the last couple years was slightly corked.

Really enjoyed after a few dissappointments from some other red lately. Full bodied with fruit forward. Very fruity with berries and cherries. Nice smell with berries and cherries, with a slight earthy smell at the end. Really enjoyed mid-palite with extremely full taste of berries. Finish was long, and taste stayed for up to 10 mins. I enjoyed.

Complex nose of sweet toasty oak, red berries and leather. Lots of red berries and a slightly high acidity level, which is anusual for a California cab. Balanced and medium body. Nothing special but easy to drink. Drink 2006-2008.

My experience is in line with most of the others here: a nice initial aroma of cassis and fruit, but 30 minutes later it was all herbal and green. Mid-palate was thin for a cab, but pleasant and balanced. Not a bad mid-week wine, but don't open it up for foods you would typically have with cal cabs.

Well, I had higher expectations for these based on the RP review. Unfortuanately, I find too little to like here. This was flat, with a bit of green pepper and not much to recommend it. Paid $10.50/bottle; certainly not getting more than my money's worth even at that price point.

My problem with this wine isn't that it's green but that it's so plain-jane. I find blackberry, currant, and some vanilla on a pleasing nose, but I also find an utterly vacant palate. For me, the balance is fine, which would make this a satisfactorily drinkable everyday Cab, but why would I drink something so flavorless again?

I had one of these a few months ago and disagreed with the notes here as I thought it demonstrated nice black fruit without any of the green notes others have picked up on. However, I opened a bottle last night and was very disappointed. Thin, disjointed and green, although a pleasant initial nose was present, just like many others have noted. I will see if it improves this evening and will repost if anything changes.

Decanted 2hrs. Aromas of black cherry and anis. Full bodied flavors of black currant and dark spices with notes of vanilla and anis in an oak structure and just a touch of vegan. This has a nice balance of flavors, but it’s a touch muted on the fruit and with only a small amount of depth.

Don't know about this bottle. Color is a healthy purple color. The nose contains black currant and toasty oak, but what follows in the mouth is a disappointing midpalate and an overall disjointed feeling with greenish tints that I usually associate with the 2000 vintage. Perhaps my expectations were high, but clearly this bottle was not what I expected after tasting a few other 01 Cali cabs. Travel shock crossed my mind but this sat for at least 2 weeks before I opened it. I am willing to revisit if it shows up here for a decent price. Got this one for $12.99 at Winex - still though, a bit of a downer.
