Purchased upon release, decanted for sediment. Far less structure than I would have hoped for Howell Mountain fruit. Initially not bad, pleasant red cherries and leather. With time in glass, lots of cedar and fruit faded quickly. Dissapointed. Hopefully anyone still holding this has a better experience.

Popped-and-poured. Loads of dark fruit. Light tannins. Some leather and tobacco. Had with grilled meats, and was a perfect match. My last bottle - wish I had more. Still has some time on it.

Mt friend Lew surprised us at dinner by bringing this wine. I opened one earlier in the year, and still have a bottle left; which I'll save for 2017. After a 30 minute decant, this was really dark and smooth, with a few tannins. Taste of cherry, chocolate, tobacco, and leather. The '07 was perfect with a NY Strip steak.

On pop and poor, beautiful dark fruits, great texture long finish. Fruit, soft tannins, oak, all well integrated. Can't see this getting much better, but should go for many years. Loved it!

Drank this with WineBerserkers at Di Fara's pizza in Brooklyn. Drinkable on pop 'n pour. This was singing after being opened for 90 minutes! Several people at my end of the table were 'in love'. Glad I have another bottle. Drink or hold. I'll save my other bottle for 2016.

Color is dark purple. Some mint and band aid on the nose. Tobacco mint and dark fruit on the palate. Decent finish. A very good wine lacks a little in complexity and mouth feel to rate higher.

Left to breathe in the bottle for 2 hours. Dark red fruit, green vegetable and a little eucalyptus on the nose. Medium plus body with black cherry and plum on the palate with notes of menthol, cedar and a little graphite. This had very nice balance and acidity which nicely reflects the Howell mountain terroir. 20 second finish with surprisingly well integrated tannins for a cabernet this young. Put on weight and improved over the course of the evening. This is a very good, restrained cabernet which should improve over the next several years. However, i just couldn't help being a little disappointed having tasted several of Sojourn's other cabernet offerings. (88+ pts)

This just got better and better after opening. Didn't decant as it was ready to go immediately. Lots of plum and dark berries on palate along with some chocolate, cherry and cola. Tannins were soft...and there was what I tho't was a bit of leather on a medium finish. Really a delicious cab. Hated to finish the bottle....but am glad I have more.

This was a pop and pour and followed over three hours. Nice red color. Nose shows some camphor and sage. Tastes of cassis and herbs; some parsley notes. A bit of basil and menthol.

Drank over two nights. First night lovely fruit and tobacco on nose. Same on palate with some oak, but there was a strong minty flavor as well. Second night, mint receeded to a large degree, and flavor profile was more balanced.

Pinot Days 2009 (Navy Pier - Chicago, IL): With 9 months left in the barrel. I don't know whether its unfortunate or not that the best wine at Pinot Days was a Cab, but that was the case. From Howell mountain this gorgeous bottling has the nose of a cult Napa Valley wine. Gobs of cherry cola, creme de cassis, leather and blueberries soar out of the glass. The palate is endless showing massive amounts of glycerine and structure. Lovely dark fruit, scorched earth, charred leather and wood lead to a monumental 60 second finish. Fantastic.

Drinking perfectly now. Integrated tannins, blue fruit all over the palate. Finish seems a bit short but still delicious. Drink now.

Good, smooth drinking cab that only lacks for a sense of distinctiveness.

Sadly this is my last bottle. I enjoy the subtle richness present on my palate as compared to the Spring Mtn Cab, which I also like very much.
