PnP, having a glass and saving the rest overnight. Intense golden-orange color. Smells like grain, honey, dried fruit. Concentrated apricot flavor, heavy and sweet. Adequate acidity for decent balance and a tart finish (a relief, since notes seem to vary in this regard). Overall, a bit overbearing, but tasty, and at $10 worth drinking.
Day 2 - Not much change. Big pungent grain aroma, along with honey and dried fruit. Lacking in freshness, despite a decent amount of acidity; sort of like the syrup from canned fruit. But it is enjoyable nonetheless, at least with a suitable foil like cinnamon graham crackers slathered with peanut butter.

Pronounced raisin-like nose, and syrup on the palate. It could well be white juice concentrate with some alcohol in it. Monolithic, unchanging, lacking complexity and freshness, and no acid to speak of. Concentrated for sure, like a handful of golden raisins, but otherwise completely uninteresting and flat. Have one more bottle and am hoping that a pairing with cheeses will help it show a little better.

Solid gold color. On the nose this has a surprisingly concentrated aroma of salted caramel and toast in addition to the expected honey and candied lemon notes. The concentration persist on the succulent palate, where it is joined by robust but pleasantly integrated acidity. In its entirety, this wine is viscous, lavish, forceful, and delicious. A pleasure now, but with ample time to continue maturing.

One of the darkest late harvest wines I have had. Ripe apricot and juicy peach along with bright citrus. Viscous on the palate but not overbearing. Long finish with balanced acidity.

Medium yellow in color. Thick and sticky as it should be. Lots of honey and tropical fruit. Nice value at $19 from the state monopoly store. If scoring 89-91.

Deep gold in color. Tropical fruit, apricot, vanilla and honey on the nose and on the palate. The nose is medium plus in intensity and developing. The palate is sweet to luscious and consistent with the nose. The acidity is only medium, which is this wine's only limiting factor. The alcohol is medium; the flavor intensity and length are medium plus. The body is medium plus and the mouthfeel is rich and luscious. Drink now, but has potential to last for many more years. It is not likely to imrpove with ageing, however, because it does not have enough acidity. Very good by itself, but it is really good as an accompaniment to a sweet and rich dessert. The best pairing was baklava, which helped the wine's acidity shine through while really playing off the nut and honey and buttery flakyness of the pastry. Not recommended for diabetics...

Tasted at the Cellar Door. Great upfront nose and flavor profile of rich, ripe fruits, citrus, honey, with fantastic acidity and structure. Can't wait to try this again in 10 years' time.

NobleRottersSydney - Two Hands wines with Matt Wenk (Alio's, Surry Hills): [500ml, 12.5%, screwcap, A$50] A late-harvest style; there are those who think Barossa semillon is good for little else. Cheers, Matt. Made on a whim it seems, from fruit with no other use! Sweetly apricotty nose, with a sort of custard-apple note to the aromas. The palate is quite sweet, with dried fruit flavours, if that makes sense; and there’s a coppery tinge to the luscious flavours. It’s a bit one-dimensional; an attractive enough drink in its youth, although I doubt it has the acid (& possibly too much alcohol) to age with much glory. Pleasant, although ambitiously priced, to say the least…

Apple crisp nose with a little plastic, unctuous heavy palate with apricot and apple preserves, ending with interesting salinity

This has improved significantly since my last bottle. Much richer, deeper and complex. If scoring 91-93.

Tasty and solid, but perhaps not exceptional dessert wine.

Australia Trip: Tasted at the winery. Very sweet, bland with little taste. No acidity to offset the sugar. (Doris 86)
