Soter Tasting with James Cahill (Knightsbridge - Northbrook IL): Popped and poured. Wonderful aromas of ripe black cherry with sweet spice, nicely matured. Good flavors, slightly less exciting and balanced vs the nose. Still a good combination of freshness and earth, just with a slightly tannic finish. My last bottle from a case purchased from the winery at release, this bottle was better vs my previous bottle opened one year ago.
- Crimsom color. It's balanced with a medium/full body. Linear texture with a medium finish - I never expected a 15 year old Oregon Pinot to last like this. Still full of fruit, good finish. Wish I had more than this last bottle.

Mature black and blue berry aromas and flavors with some umami, cooked mushroom character. Still a trace of pronounced new oak spice. Still drinking nicely, but time to drink up.
I'm not sure what the oak treatment was, but this has a toasty, spice driven nose. Color is quite crimson and vibrant. Dark fruit palate, smooth and sweet and delicious. Repeat toast, spice, and cinnamon finish which is a little too much as it seems to hide the purity of the fruit.

Nice, somewhat more restrained than the last bottles we've had. I'm not sure if this indicates a trend toward decline, or mere bottle variation. Pretty nose of typical OR Pinot earthy funk, but less in-your-face fruit on the palate, allowing greater acidity to emerge. Result is a more elegant wine, but I'm concerned that if the fruit continues to fade the wine will be unbalanced.

Black cherry aromas with some licorice and cloves, nicely balanced with forest floor. Palate shows a similar combination of fresh fruit and earthy development, with good spice emerging on long finish. While this probably isn't going to get better, I still expect it has at least 4-5 more very good years at this quality level.

Darker ruby hue. Nose of anise, blackberry, iodine, ocean air. Extracted raspberry and licorice flavors on the tongue with drenching and grippy concentration of fruit on the back palate. Still bracingly acidic with strong tannins even at age 9. Moderate finish with some heat. Overall, an impressive wine with lots of personality and enjoyable with some air.

Round flavors of cherry and spice. Somewhat muted nose. No noticeable tannins. Finish was a bit short. Turned slightly funky after several hoursi in the glass, but not unpleasantly so. Nicely mature, but time to drink up.

Consistent with last notes - this wine is in its prime, with mostly resolved tannins and just enough acidity to keep its ample fruit in check: lush raspberry laced with OR funk. Big, but beautfullly balanced. A crowd pleaser.

seems to be some storage issues with others. I've had this in my cellar since it was released and it is excellent. muted fruit, mild spice and soft tannins; just what I expect from a quality, aged oregon pinot.

Haven't tasted one of these in at least a year, so thought it might be good to check in on one, particularly after reading some of the tasting notes here. Enormously different impressions from those who found vegetal, astringent, green flavors. We got absolutely none of that - this wine is rich and powerful, chock full of classic OR pinot flavors and still in its middle years. Our wine was purchased at release at the winery and has been in climate-controlled storage since that time - as a result, it's barely showing any signs of age: in color, still a deep purple, fading to a crimson rim. On the nose, tons of dark fruit and earth - unmistakably OR pinot. I got a lot of intense raspberry, some smoky mushroom funk, and a long finish with a potent sasparilla note. Soft tannins and acidity. Although this style is not as much to my liking as it once was, it's nevertheless a solid performer in a jammy, full-throttle style.

one of the very few oregon pinots i enjoy. most are too much of a goopy blob to me. this wine manages to keep a more elegant profile, although it's still strong willed, and displays plenty of the region's characteristic spice and earth.

We decanted this and started drinking it within a hour. Pretty classic Oregon Pinot nose of dark cherries, plum, wet soil, nutmeg and pine needles. I agree with others here that this won't peak for another 3-5 years maybe more. Still has a decent amount of acidity and tannins. I got some really nice wild cherries, cranberries, mushrooms, and cloves on the palate. The finish is very tart but very pleasing and long. I could see scoring this wne a few points higher in the years to come. Looking for more.

Very good wine. This one is built to last. Made in a tannic, long-aging style. Somewhat like a Calera or Benton Lane First Class 2002. Still has tannins, deep dark style. May still be somewhat closed, but serious and balanced. This could have developed into slightly more. Let this one lay down for another year or two. Will last 5+.

Serious bottle funk upon opening, weird almost stale aromas and flavors, very distressing at first but blew off. Half hour in much more Pinot but still feels coiled and larval. Does have a distinctive note of tea and something wilder. Very tough to score at this point, so i won't, but it has 90+ potential, I think. Wait a couple of years for the next one.

Dark ruby color. Nose of plums, earth, tea, and musk. Fruit definitely more evident than a year ago, with slightly extracted flavors of black plum, raspberry, earth, and a bit of cream on the palate. Concentration and finish are evident but probably will improve with more cellar time. As other notes have stated, this is a wine coming into balance.

San Diego Pinot-fest (Cuvee Restaurant - Del Mar, CA): This was kind of a mysterious wine to me in that I knew there was more to it than was presented to me. Interesting nose of dark fruit, Asian spices, and what I like to call "antique shoppe." Dense flavors of dark then sour cherries that really didn't seem to go anywhere. It was just kind of there, and then it was gone. Where did it go? I don't know. That's part of a mystery for me. 87-88 points.

Color is dark garnet to the rim. Nose reveals dark cherry, leather, and toasty oak. On the palate, there is a big attack of dark sour cherry framed by smoke, earth, spice, and oak. Good balancing acidity completes a nice Pinot Noir.
