This needs a 15/30 minute decant to blow off some funk and relax the overall feel. The fruit isn't as intense as some estates but it is a wonderful expression of classy Sangiovese. It's together/complete at this stage in its life and ready to drink. If you like older wine it has the structure to easily last a few more years. Very enjoyable.

I was not as impressed by this bottle as much as some others were. I think this may reflect differences in preferences as much as anything else. The wine seemed to be fully mature, nicely balanced with some of the "dustiness" that I associate with Italian wines. It needed some time to open (30 min or so), and I decanted it to help. All in all a good bottle -- can't see any reason to wait any longer

Really good now and in a great place for drinking. In its youth, this was obviously Sangoivese but the fruit was not pure and expressive. Now with some age the Sangiovese is really beautiful, medium intense, showing mostly aged characteristics of tar and leather and no primary fruit. It had a light harsh finish at opening but with time and after raising the temperature the rough finish disappeared. After time it was light/medium in the mouth with some richness, good beginning/middle/end transitions and a very pleasant overall brightness. Drink over the next couple of years.

This wine has a great Sangiovese nose. The beginning of the mouth feel and taste is also extremely enjoyable. The middle taste holds your attention, but the finish is the downfall of this one. An annoying harshness appears and gets in the way of a long joyful dance of the Sangiovese on the tongue. It does not destroy the experience, but limits this wine from being one of the truly excellent Chiantis of 2006.

My last bottle of this great little wine. Decanted for about 20 mins. Surprisingly dark, almost black in the center. The nose is very pleasant, perfumey, rich, enticing. The palate is likewise pleasant, with good acidic zing, quite a bit of tannins and a dried cherry finish. Too bad it's my last bottle!

{cork, 13%, A$25} Fairly dark ruby, but clearer at the rim. Developing nose; a touch of sour cherries and a note of tobacco - not unripe, but sort of weedy, and overlaid with a kind of dry mustiness that never really went away, even a day later. There are sour cherry fruits on the palate, with drying, gritty/dusty tannins which are integrating into the texture. It has distinct, at least medium-bodied weight, but the flavours never seem to stand up to the structure. It sort of makes an impact on the tongue without tasting of anything very much. Oh yeah, except that faint musty, old attic sort of flavour. It's not corked at all (although I have to say the cork was stained pretty well right to the top); perhaps it's showing a touch more oxidation that it should. In all, at 25 bucks I'd not be inspired to buy it again. Pity I don't have a second bottle to compare against.

Still drinking well and should continue to hold up another 2-3 years, at least. Getting softer, which is helping the flavors balance out well. Had with pasta and good homemade marinara sauce. The wine didn't overpower the meal and complimented the San Marzano tomato bases sauce well.

Boerne Wine Club - Tuscany (Scenic Loop Cafe, San Antonio, TX): Roasted and rainsy nose, with currants and plums on the nose. Palate is rather soft, with ripe dark fruits and licorice highlights. Finishes with a hint of coffee and a saline minerality. Fine drying tannins. Delivers for the price.

The Antinori came across as heavily oaked, with almost sweet raspberry fruit. It lacked structure and lacked the usual medium bright cherry that I love in many Chianti. Instead it behaved very… ah, sorry to say, Californian. However, everyone at the table LOVED it and that's all that matters.

Made by well-known Italian prodiucer from its Pèppoli estate. 90% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and Syrah. Drink alongside with a Sangiovese from Australia - 2005 De Bortoli Windy Peak Sangiovese. Dark garnet red with purple hues, aroma of black cherry, raspberry, with sweet vanilla & earthy notes. Medium bodied, with sour cherry, sour plum, earthiness & hints of vanilla oak on palate. Balance and supple character. Sweet & firm tannins with medium+ finishing. A well-made Chianti Classico, although still far from other top notch Chianti Classico Riserva.

A nice big chianti from one Antinori's labels (I think the rep mentioned a more accessible one?), that was quite smooth - I had with a beef panini w/ mushrooms and raspberry jam at a wine dinner and the food was well balanced to this wine. Wonderfully rich, deep flavors and fuller bodied for a Chianti. Ripe blackberry and raspberry with pronounced floral and mineral notes. Has a meaty character to it. Silky texture and loads of flavor. Nice rounded finish of polished tannins, red and black fruit. - Tasted at Marché Bacchus 6/26/10

This modern Chianti has a deep ruby color with the juicy aromas of strawberries and raspberries, amplified by vanilla and toffee notes imparted while aging in American and Slovenian oak barrels. The flavors are fruit-forward, but not sweet, with full body and soft, round tannins that play out over a long finish.

ChTR kokous 9.12.2009 (SKO-toimisto): Decanted for an hour. The colour was quite a dark red with a hint of orange on the edge. The nose was quite expressive, lots of flowery and barnyardy smells, some oak coming through, but in a nice way, with air time cherries and licorice were evident. On the palate there are quite a bit of tannins, but in a smooth way, as well as lots of red fruit, but not sweet. A very nice wine, I'm glad I still have a couple of bottles in the cellar, at €7 (from Viking Line) this is a bargain! 50+4+11+16+8=89

I was surprised to read so different descriptions.I found this to be quite basic chianti. Medium nose with strong tea flavor and little fruit.Light to medium bodied palate, tart cherries, tea,a small hint of spice and liquorice on the short finish.Good tannic grip.Very quaffable and supple though. But perhaps not worth the spend of nearly 20 €.

With 3+ hours of air. Nose: Anise, cedar, sour cherries, otherwise fairly muted. Palate: Smoke, gravel, sour cherries, strawberries on the attack. Loads of acid shows up mid-palate, along with some drying tannins. Young, lively, and refreshing.

Bought this yesterday on the boat to Stockholm for €7.20. Popped and poured. Quite a dark red with a violet edge to it. The nose is quite pungent, flowery with vanilla on the side, some barnyard. On the palate nice smooth tannins, red berries and a nice smoky finish. A very nice wine and surprisingly cheap! I think I'm gonna load up on this for the cellar. 50+4+11+15+8=88

This is very polished and modern compared to most CC. It is ripe with low intensity cherries, dried herbs and a hint of green olive. At this stage in its life it is mostly fruit focused without any typical secondary flavors. It is soft and ready right out of the bottle but improves with time in the decanter. It's very well made wine, but not expressive sangiovese. Overall, it seems indifferent and doesn't express a sense of place. Second day lots of dirt and less quality. This would be a good, easy drinking restaurant wine.

I came home one Thursday night to find that my better half had chilled, popped, and poured this wine. It wasn't great. I put the cork in the bottle and put it back in the refrigerator. On Friday night, I pulled it out of the fridge and tried again. At first it was very raisiny, but as it warmed up, it came back, that bottle I thought was so great last time - lots of black pepper and black licorice spice cake over red cherries with a grippy finish. Note to self, hide this in the back of the cellar for a while.

Decanted about 3 hours before dinner. Nice typical nose of cherry and plum, started off very acid leaning (which was fine, Sunday is pizza night), and mellowed into a typical, but not special, sangiovese. But a funny thing started to happen after about 6 hours in, the spices started to build with a very concentrated black pepper and spice cake aroma layering over the cherry and more tannins gripping on the finish. I am glad it took so long to get the kids in bed because it really gave this wine a chance to open up in a way that I hadn't expected.

Solid, decent Chianti. Some cherry fruit hiding in there. Not too dusty or raisiny as I have found some Chiantis. Not clear what more aging will do. The wine improved somewhat through the bottle, but not dramatically. I have one more bottle that I will leave alone for at least a year or two, if not 3 or 4, just to see what happens.

Tasted at Tenuta Tignanello. Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of red berries, red cherries and red licorice. Flavors of red berries, raspberries and cherries. Medium to bright acidity, medium tannins, light to medium body. Drink over the short term. 13.0% alcohol. 90% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and Syrah. Spends 9 months in oak with 1 year in the bottle before release. First vintage of this wine was 1985.

This wine was so good, we ordered a second bottle. Nice spice (fennel seed/anise) and not too tannic (some Chianti's are so dry/tart). Case-worthy purchase!

This wine was classic representation of Chianti Classico. Medium bodied with notes of red cherry, tea leafs and cedar with plenty of acidity and a soft finish . Reasonable QPR. Paired very well with Pasta Bolognese.

Red berries and rich floral scent. The taste is full and smooth. One of our favorite varietals with food and this was no exception. It was great with pasta and meatballs in vodka tomato sauce.

Nice, dark color and a good nose with cherries and red berries. Good tannins and acidity. However, the palette was lacking intensity and was very ordinary, quite boring really with a short finish.

fun little sangiovese. Pepper and mint on the nose. Maybe a hint of basil. Excellent with food. Acids to stand up to steak. \Not terribly integrated, but not distracting. Big wine. Moderate to high tannens. Definitely a steal at $20.

Improved over the couple of days I consumed. A little bland on first opening, but fruit came forward on day 2. Reasonable Chianti, but did not deliver for the price level.
